[X] You may not like one of them, but you have a team now. You should make the best of it. Go find Kiba and Mariko, and have lunch.
For the simple reason that Daisuke doesn't halfass anything. The teams are set, complaining won't change the Hokage's decision.
Kurenai's report on the team might, but that happens in three foreseeable circumstances:
-Flunk down.
-Promoted past the team early(i.e. Daisuke must demonstrate not only Chunin skills, but also loyalty and leadership ability)
-One of the team members has to be sidelined by injuries, or other fatal issues.
Thus Daisuke has to do his best. If the team fails to work its damned well not going to be for lack of his effort.
And from the village perspective, a Genin team is going to be running errands, conveying messages, fighting bandits, etc.
The Jounin is a certified badass more than sufficient to make up for any strife or lacks in their teams for anything they can expect to encounter on a C rank.
If it doesn't work they'll just never approve higher rank missions.
I am also now wondering if Kairi is the one drawing all of Katsuragi's art IC, and she just follows Daisuke around sketching him in all his glory. Take 160 XP.
Horrifying
They actually don't stop them from learning ninjutsu. We have cites for Hinata / Neji learning various chakra natures by the time of the Fourth Shinobi War.
It's more that Gentle Fist uses both hands + Rotation is chakra intensive, so we don't see them use ninjutsu except in support situations. Hinata does know medical ninjutsu in anime, and uses it for healing. There's no cabal of Ye Olde Elders stifling the best and brightest of their own family to that extent.
And also that simply put the Gentle Fist + Byakugan is just THAT good that its very rare that there is a more efficient way than using it if you are trained in it. Even massed opponents are fine, a tiny chakra injection shuts them down, severs puppet strings or pops bunshins
For a Hyuuga I suspect the best use of ninjutsu is likely elemental bunshins, medical ninjutsu and...pretty much it really.
I'd disagree, I touched on this briefly previously but I think it team is very well constructed if you take out personalties as a factor (something that seems to have done)
See, there's Kiba, an awesome tracker with his Ninken, you can't escape him and it's difficult to sneak up on him due to the dog senses, so to speak, once he gets in close to you he can give you a lot of trouble with his clan techniques and style which will fuck up most Genin.
Then there's Mariko, she's a middling Shinobi, nothing amazing, however she knows more about Genjutsu than most and is noted to be decent at taijutsu with a strong build. Not only that she's a Yamanaka, if you need info extracted, or someone unable to fight when the battle starts, they'll do you well. Her Genjutsu, if levelled up and trained, will also help her with this, stalling enemies and letting her get close or paralyse them, once her melee team mates have attacked the genjutsu'd or paralysed enemies, she can swoop in to help.
We all know Daisuke, know his extreme talent in Taijutsu and Kenjutsu, recognised as a progidy in both by the Green Beast himself. We also know his extremely advanced Genjutsu he designed himself, a feat that hints to most that he could easily become a Genjutsu master with some guidance. He can stall an enemy and leave them vulnerable to him closing into to melee, then, it's all over.
This is a pursuit and skirmish team. Enemy long range combatants are shut down quickly by Yamanaka techniques, Genjutsu fuckery or ambush due to Ninken warnings. Once in Melee all of the team, once matured, will be able to fuck you up. Don't try running, they can find you with Ninken, and if they capture one of you then can extract information and go on to use it to fuck you harder.
Overall, this team is potentially brutal in small engagements, which make up most Ninja encounters, pursuit and patrol actions.
If they're chasing you, you're fucked.
Also, for all of Mariko and Daisuke's personal issues, Daisuke is the one genin outside of InoShikaCho who is familiar with the complications of Yamanaka techniques and how to support them. Remember the Mind Body Switch is a projected ray attack that stuns the Yamanaka regardless of success or failure. Shikamaru fills that role for Ino by immobilizing a target, and Chouji follows it up by being a giant meat tank to draw aggro from everyone else and probably not die.
He is also familiar with enough Inuzuka work to act as a secondary for Kiba if he's either unavailable or needing to perform more complex coordination. Inuzuka dogs are finicky, if Kiba is taken out of commission they could well lose both dog and master. In canon, I believe Hinata fills that role as she's so aggressively harmless that she could probably win Akamaru's trust fairly quickly.
From the Hokage table dossier perspective, the value of this team if it works is greater than the sum of its parts. And most of the parts can do fine if its defunct and the team dissolves.
Who cares? Kiba has a crush on our mom so he can deal with his sister having a crush on us.
Also Hana/Ino Dog/Cat fight when?!
Uchihas are the cats.
Ino is a boar. Shikamaru a deer. Chouji a butterfly.
I don't mind Kurenai. Sure, she got beaten by Itachi, but...so did literally everyone else he ever faced. Sasuke won because he literally died while trying to take a dive.
He punted Orochimaru so hard that Orochimaru developed A man crush obsession for him. To put it another way, Orochimaru chose to invade Konoha instead of trying to face Itachi again.
Also he got way further attacking Konoha than Itachi.
Itachi be hax.
We've been over this though: giving away Jutsu, especially self-created ones, to your friends is not acceptable in Shinobi culture. These are techniques meant for yourself, your blood, and your direct pupils. You don't pass on techniques to your friends because that devalues those techniques and makes yourself less unique.
Worth reemphasizing. The ninja world is not a modern state or even a renaissance state.
They are more like medieval mercenary companies/guilds, where keeping their competitive advantages secret is king, yet they must advertise WITH hints at those secrets to earn prestige and reputation to get their next hire.
As a general question do people feel that it's necessary to be friends with our teammates? It would certainly make things easier but these are just people we work with.
And if there are team conflict issues who is responsible for fixing it? Individual team members or the Sensei? Are there punishments for poor team cohesion?
Just that Daisuke would not halfass anything IMO. He dealt with Mariko back then by ignoring everything she did without consequences and retaliating exactly as much as is allowed when it does have consequences. Nothing new
