Quick question regarding telling Ardat, do verge even have Frigimon permission to tell her. Fu only told verge after having Frigimon consent. I'm worried about the possible blowback
Verge does not have permission at the moment. This is something he'd have to ask Leopardmon about. And will be doing when the topic comes up.

So speaking of Ardat I've been wondering something. Say that in the future Verg and Ardat do have a relationship but Verg gets a Craniamon or heavyLeomon form, will she move on when Verg eventually dies of something like old age? She's less likely to run into the old age problem as both he most likely forms have a do not die of old age thing going on.

Most megas especially royal knights live for a VERY long time. And they are Digimon with a known reincarnation cycle. Given decades enormous power and sufficient preparation there's probably a way to restore memory into a new body.Sparks nearly became a victim of it as an example. So doing that but better should be doable. Especially with a demon lord who specializes in that crap poking around

Of course that's assuming that Slayer doesn't have his own "in case of death" contingency we've yet to experience. Which should come up
In the next arc.

Eh maybe if this future comes to pass she might try to go that route but going after reincarnation and memory seem like an incredibly mixed bag.

I don't think slayer themselves had one but someone else might have for him, although I'm not sure if Verg creator is trying to help or harm such plans. On one hand she is likes one of the few mon who could have such skill to make something like that portrait contain memories made from the slayer's own data, on the other why make a mental guardian and stop those memories taking effect at all.

[X] Tell Fu that you'll attempt to help, but can't promise results. Truthfully you're not sure that kind of damage can be healed.

Shrug

Don't want to over commit, also I don't like that add on. I don't exactly trust Ardat to handle the info well consider her past record at emotion control.

Mrm... next update's probably going to be monday. In the meantime are there any Omakes you'd all like to see?

Maybe getting a look at Pit's/slashangelmon's headspace when looking at Orphanmon's tailspin? Seeing how they're reacting to questionable moral tactics. Or better the two of them discussing it in private.

Or maybe something from Luna?

-[X] Next time you see Ardat, tell her about Frgimons situation. She deserves to know the truth about her guardians suffering. And how it might be fixed.

Mum's depression activities. Which likely include staying in bed all the time and maybe eating something once every three weeks.
Or maybe something from Luna?
Yeah something involving either of these two character is an omake I'd like to see. Maybe a more in depth view of Malkimon setting up the tournament and what she thinks of all the people she;s invited or Luna running her little area and maybe her reaction after everything involving the battle royal ( Her reaction to an Apollomon mightbe interesting and if she either goes eh strong mega or has a deep connection to it)

Xia's tail lashes downwards- "Beat!" -only for a spinning hook to smack it away.
Hook as in the punch or did you mean hoof?
The Aegimon slowly climbs up out of the him-shaped hole, one hand rubbing at the back of his head.

Hrm… he had guessed correctly., but…
Remove the full stop.
Sadly the local gym doesn't have any equipment for that, and you don't have the various bars DinoTigermon to trained your own biting strength.

With that the MasterTyrannomon whirls about his horse towards a monstrously large cabinet.
I think you meant house, unless MayorTyrannomon was riding a horse this entire time.
The Mayor exhails in satisfaction and drops his barrel to the tiled floor.
Exhales.
Your teacher muses, stomping over to matt before flopping down onto it with a yawn.
To a mat, unless he crushed someone named matt.

[X] Swear that you'll do what you can to help Frigimon be healed.

It's great if Ardat could help but that's likely to be a very long term process and I don't want to just dump this off on her.

Your mind naturally snaps towards two extremes; first an oath to heal the caretaker, then an apology citing your lack of authority in Bulwark to assist the issue. However… both possess their own problems. A sworn oath when you're not sure if it can be completed would be exceedingly painful, and not being able to fulfill it would be devastating. But the opposite would mean eschewing said issue and… Frigimon deserves more than that.

The lack of a decisive answer is in itself straining, but in the end you only see one true path moving forward.

"I will... attempt to help her." You reply tentatively. "However I cannot promise results, the damage of which you described… I'm unsure if Bulwark can repair it.

Fu waivers for a few seconds in the air, weighing your words against her question. In the end she perks up, twirls about, then floats forward to put a cloth-covered hand on your forehead.

"Fufufufu, you should have more confidence in yourself Verge." The Phantomon giggles, still patting you like some sort of rookie. "I know you'll come through, you helped your big sis after she died, didn't you?"

That…

"I merely made sure you-" Fu summons her weapon and beans you on the nose with its flail before the sentence can finish.

"You helped me and that's all there is to it!" The ghostly Ultimate scolds. "And I know you won't let Frigimon down. Even if you think you might!"

You find yourself letting out a low chuckle at her words. The matter of factness of Fu's words, her confidence, it all brings that warm feeling back to the forefront of your mind. Despite the prior reservations, you find yourself nodding with a smile.

"Aye."

Although… given this is Frigimon's injuries. I must ask for her permission first… should I inform Ardat of her caretaker's injuries? She loves Frigimon… but the secret is not mine to share. It's up to Frigimon, not me.

Before you can voice your thoughts to Fu, a loud roar of "Student!" echoes over Electown. Which can only mean that *Boy* broke something and needs healing.

"A moment Fu, I'll be returning shortly."

"... 'kay." She shrugs as you turn around and dart towards the source of *Boy's* spirit. The fact that it took this long for him to need healing is a little disappointing. It can only mean that your master is going easy on his training, and your student is himself not pushing his limits enough.

However given how well the Aegiomon did yesterday… you're willing to allow him this day to work out lightly. For tomorrow he'll be forced back into the full course.

"Wowie! Auntie Fu where did this hill come from?" A Plotmon prodding your back gasps, her paws effortlessly sinking into your thick Gryzmon coat. "It's so… fluffy!"

"She's right!" Another rookie, this time a Sunlizamon exclaims after leaping into your fur. "I could… huah… just take a nap right now…" That breaks the metaphorical dam, and within moments there's a score of the young mon rushing over to your immobile body to play.

You take a strange sense of pride in this, providing such enjoyment and comfort to others.

"Fufufu, that's not a hill!" The Phantomon exclaims, soaring to the "peak" of your immobile form and planting her scythe like a flagpole in the center of your back. "This is none other than my little brother!"

A chorus of gasps and denials rise from the various rookies.

"There's no way this could be that scary mon!"

And that would be my cue.

While Fu begins to giggle, you slowly lift your head up from where it's buried in the ground. Cries of surprise gather up from the child-digimon, which quickly fade into silence as you look over your shoulder to regard them.

"U-uh-umm…" The holy dog digimon stammers out, shaking so hard she nearly falls out of your fluff.

"Greetings."

"Kyaaaah! He's gonna eat me! Help auntie! Help!"

… ow.

You resist the urge to bury your head back in the ground, which is fortunate since only a third of the gathered rookies share her reaction.

"Wow! He looks so different now!" The Sunlizamon and others seem to be more in awe.

"Don't be rude to your uncle Verge." Fu admonishes, lightly tapping the holy rookie's head with one hand. "He's being super nice by letting you all play in his fur."

"B-but… he's scary auntie!" The rookie whines… only to receive another tiny slap.

"Don't judge him by his appearance! Your uncle Verge is trying his best to be friendly, it's not his fault he looks super evil!"

I… I look evil?!

"Okay…" The Plotmon swallows, then forces herself to look at you again. She shakes, but manages to bow her head in apology. "S-so-sorry uncle Verge."

"It is of no consequence." You murmur, trying to sound as friendly as possible.

"Kyaaah!"

Spirits below.

It doesn't work.

===AN: first half of the update. I should have gotten it all out last night, but I was uh... kind of watching the Mandalorian. Next part will deal with Frigimon.

Poor Verge, he really does look like a monster. Good thing Count was dumb and left him, or he would be the perfect intimidation machine for the Gloaming.

A sworn oath, or a swear or just a promise.
The Phantomon exclaims, soaring to the "peak" of your immoblile form and planting her scythe like a flagpole in the center of your back.
Immobile.

Fluffy fur or just fluff.
The SunLizamon and others seem to be more in awe.
Remove the capitalization on the L on Sunlizamon.

Yeah I don't think he has a non-intimidating form not even his rookie would be not scary.

This is the best he can manage. Poor verge his megas are probably even more terrifying

14th Of Wood: Caretaker's Plea
Your next few hours serving as a living playground for Electown's youth is rewarding if a little boring. It's always nice to have your best aesthetic trait complimented and enjoyed, however the post also forces you to only make minute movements lest one of the rookies get injured.

Eventually Fu has to cart them off for schooling, leaving you free to go visit Frigimon.

… or rather, try to visit her. The matter of your size makes entering the mansion nigh-impossible and her presence deep inside caring for the very youngest mon makes it impossible to reach her.

And just roaring her name until she comes out would be rude.

So until Fu comes back you slide back up to GrappLeomon and take over *Boy's* training again.

=

"Mhrm… I know he wanted to train hard student but-"

*Snap*

"Argh!"

"A moment teacher." One healing spell later, you set *Boy* back to his weighted jumping, then tilt your head at the MasterTyrannomon.

"I know we discussed optimal training strategies before, but I believe that applies to skill." You explain, only to be waved off.

"Know that already student. I'm just concerned you're goin' a little hard on him." The Mayor replies, scratching just under his chin with a claw. "But forcing him to go so hard might hurt your relationship."

"He understands the necessity." You reply flatly, before intentionally raising your voice. "And this training means he's surpassing Aegiochusmon!"

"Da-damn right I… am!" *Boy* chokes out hoarsely. Your master gives him a dubious look.

"Something about that anger ain't right, fannin' it might not be a good thing."

"It provides immense motivation. Without it his progress would be far lesser."

"I get that student, but-" *Snap* MayorTyrannomon waits patiently whilst you heal the screaming Aegiomon's broken leg before finishing his point..

"Listen Verge, all I'm saying is, that anger might not come from a good place. Findin' out what's behind may be a good idea."

"I've asked priorly and he's unsure of why…" You pause a moment considering said past conversation. "Beyond him having a… *Stupid, arrogant face that needs punching*."

"... he's not wrong." Your teacher admitts with a shrug. "But this feels more personal."

"A fair point… I will investigate the matter." That sets the Mayor to nodding sagely. "Best find out sooner rather than later, could be a ticking timebomb-" You open your mouth to point out that *Boy* cannot tick, nor is a bomb, but your master coughs to pre-empt the correction. "*Ahem*. Metaphor."

"Ah…"

Fu's more than happy to carry your message to Frigimon once she's returned from the Host-sponsored school. So you take up a seat outside the mansion's main doors and wait… and wait… and wait.

You manage to get to ten million and twenty-five before Frigimon leans out of the doorway and instructs you to meet her outside her office. When she arrives three minutes later, her mits are closed into shaking fists.

"Verge." She greets you brusquely, nearly making you flinch. The gap that's opened between you while painful, is an unfortunate necessity. "Fu told you about my… condition.." It's not a question.

"Aye, and I intend to try and fix it." The caretaker stiffens at that, but quickly moves past the emotion and shakes her head.

"Don't trouble yourself with it. I've learned to live with... " The Champion looks away from you, her tone growing cold. "My condition."

"By permanently staying in the frame of a champion."

"Zhere's-there is nothing wrong with that." Frigimon counters, her voice trembling a fraction. "I'm content with my life now..."

"Nevertheless I will seek a way to heal you. Bulwark's ability to conduct surgeries is extensive and Ardat's trin-"

"No!" The ice digimon snaps, cutting you off with a shake of her head. "Not her… anymon… anymon but her." A handful of frozen tears clatter against the office floor before Frigimon wipes her face. "Sorry… l… little Ardat can't see me like that. I won't… she can't know."

Come again?

You blink at the womon and open your mouth to inquire further… then shut it again.

Ardat was her ward, and closer than most. She doesn't want my Lady to see her… broken. This isn't your secret to tell Verge.

"I understand."

"Promise me."

"I-"

"Swear it to me!" The caretaker shouts, stomping up to her window and glaring up at you. "Not a single word about this to her! Or Lord help me I'll-" The sheer venom in her voice and aura makes you take an involuntary step back. Suddenly Frigimon's face softens, and she lowers her head. "I'm... sorry for speaking harshly dearie."

"I understand your anger, it is no fault of your own." The aged womon sighs at your word, and slumps down. "I've lived like this for so long Verge… I'm so used to… this." Frigimon takes a deep breath, then squares her shoulders. "If Bulwark can help, and it won't be too much trouble for you, I'll… do it."

Thank the spirits.

"On one condition."

Ah.

"Very well, I would know what that condition is."

"Swear… make one of those fancy oaths not to tell Ardat. She'll want to know, and if she sees me…" The caretaker's eyes fall. "She's suffered more than most already."

===AN: Choose One:

[] Do as she asks. You'll stick with Bulwark's assistance alone.

[] Refuse, Ardat might be hurt, but you think she deserves to know.

===AN: Aaaand, here's the update. Lots'O heart-wrenching stuff on my end. Kind of hurts to writing. I hope it comes across. Anyways, tomorrow's update will end this vacation bit. Then back to Bulwark for Ardat, and then training.

She's hurt, she's traumatized, and she's really serious about this. I'm fine with acquiescing, if only for the sake of Frigimon's fragile emotional stability.
