Well I would agree with you if it weren't for the fact that our village is a rookie village. The team sent to us is far beyond the ability of rookie villages, plus they obviously came with the intent of wiping us out, unless we missed failed discussions or demands made by them. Multiple champions, with extremely powerful rookies led by a Devimon? Almost certainly more than enough of a force to wipe out pretty much any village of our stature.

Only reason we have a chance is that we have a wandering champion merchant in town at the moment, especially one as versatile and powerful as Wizardmon is, two extremely strong rookies on par with mid-low level champions, and a mech of another champion. An unusual amount for rookie villages.

So while I agree that this might not be a "crack team" per se. I would argue that they would more than suffice as a kill-squad for a target of our level, especially when our relative power compared to most other small rookie villages is taken into account.

30th Day Of Darkness: Ongoing Battle Part 1
[] No, you won't. Lunamon and Thresh are still inside the hut, probably wondering about what's going on. You have to get them out of here now - the escape tunnel can be used to get them away from the fighting.

===

Sh-should I follow him? No Verge! Th-his way is clear. Sparks will get to it just fine! Lunamon and Thresh are still near the danger, I have to get them out of there!

Decision made, you hurriedly turn and start sprinting back towards the series of huts to the left of the gate, leaving Sparks to try and reach the vehicle on his own. The many wounds inflicted upon you by the plant digimon still sting quite badly and what almost feels like too much pain for such shallow wounds, but you shrug it off, trying to focus on the task at hand. Your mind is already in the midst of formulating a plan for Lunamon and Thresh's potential egress from the village. The escape tunnel you'd dug with Auger a couple weeks back would work perfectly for getting your *Siblings* out of the village without the risk of being attacked.

Before you can even reach a third of the way towards your shelter, a multicolored ball of fire and light tumbles into view. You claw desperately at the ground, barely managing to halt your pace in time to avoid colliding with the two blurred figures. Just a moment later they tumble past, letting you see a glimpse of the desperate melee unfolding. Flamemon is clearly on the backfoot in this fight, constantly retreating back to avoid the whirlwind of blurry claw-strikes heading his way. With only one arm in use, your best friend is hard pressed to fully defend himself against the aggressive lupine digimon and already bears at least a dozen cuts over his body from the constant onslaught. What's more, for some reason he's not using his powerful flames, though as he's kicked into the village wall again you think you can understand why.

F-Flamemon doesn't want to harm any of us by accident! If that mon forces him into one of the buildings or-or knocked him into someone then...

You shudder upon thinking what his powerful fires could do to someone like Lunamon.

"At last!" The figure howls in clear unabashed glee, almost giddily shuffling in place as he waits for your best friend to recover "Someone like me!"

"I'm nothing like you villain!" Flamemon scornfully spits, wrenching himself free from the fortifications a second time. "You face a hero!"

"Pfft. Hero? Villain?" The figure laughs, laughs at the statement. "All that matters is strength! Now come on and fight me!" Flamemon obliges, letting out an angry roar as he charges back into the fray. Once again the two rookies (or at least you think the other digimon is also a rookie) turn into barely visible blurs, though thankfully this time they're carried out of your direct path.

Pushing back the guilt that comes with abandoning Flamemon to fight alone, you burst into a run, moving parallel to the village's central piece of forestry. Several seconds later brings you into sight of the other major ongoing battle, as Gramps and the three Bakemon fight a brutal brawl behind the tree of rebirth. You steal a couple glances towards the continuous fight on your way towards the hut and are a bit amazed at just how good Gramps is at getting out of the way. The old rookie speedily runs and hops around the area in what looks like a random series of movements, but his pathing keeps the three flying enemy digimon from all closing in at once and indeed actually results in them bumping into each other further, hindering their attacks and even making them strike each other a few times.

To make things worse for the trio, the scarred Elecmon has been attacking back, blasting any that actually do manage to draw close away before they can hit him.

The village's caretaker does look a little haggard and is breathing heavily, but from what you're able to determine from the few glances aside from a single sets of marks on his left side, he's not actually that hurt. Meanwhile the trio of virus-attribute have each been repeatedly shocked and are all clearly injured in at least some capacity or another. Judging by the fact that Gramps has taken out hordes of Goblimon before, you can't tell if these foes are just really strong rookies, or some sort of very weak species of champion.

One unfortunate specter takes a volley of nuts from Fu straight to the face and lets out a ghastly shriek of pain as one of the sprayed seeds hits him right in the eye. The digimon turns, breaking off from its assault on Gramps to start chasing after Fu.

That looks bad. Wh-what can I do?...N-nothing, I have no way to hit it...

A burning sense of shame crawls down your spine upon that particular realization, as without the ability to fly or attack from a distance you can't so much as hinder the mon as it chases after your now fleeing freind. Nonetheless, you grit your teeth and tear your gaze away, focusing purely on the upcoming hut, intent on gathering the pair of digimon and seeing them to the tunnel so they can escape the fighting.

Only, when you burst into the dwelling, you're greeted with a set of space that aside from the bed and *teevee* is completely empty. Both Lunamon and Thresh are gone.

No! I-I told them to wait here! Where! Where could they have gone!

Now fully panicking, you push off with your front limbs, pivot around then come back down, desperately moving to get back outside as fast as possible. You exit the hut just in time to catch sight of a vaguely glowing Gramps hitting one of his two pursuers with a massive bolt of lighting. The concentrated blast of electricity rips right through the enemy digimon, leaving a huge gaping hole in its midsection. It immediately drops, bits and pieces already starting to fade away into pure data. Now facing a one versus one fight, the last whitish digimon decides to tries to beat a hasty retreat, but the caretaker leaps after it, once again muttering to himself.

Shaking your head to try and clear away the ever growing feeling of fatigue, you frantically look around, eyes wide and searching for even a hint of Lunamon's or Thresh's presence. However in the end, it isn't sight which relays their position, but rather sound.

"Arp! Arp!" A familiar yapping sounds from behind the huts, alerting you to their presence. With all possible haste you rush around the side of the cluster of small buildings. Even with your now slightly blurry vision, the sight that unfolds before your eyes is a horrifying one. Two strange looking green digimon have cornered Auger against the villages wall just past the hidden escape tunnel, with Lunamon and a violently struggling Thresh hiding behind him. It quickly becomes apparent that the other members of your village are there as well, with the electric mouse hiding under your friend along with what you can only guess is the evolved version of Yuramon.

Auger spots you coming to help and suddenly his scared expression morphs into a happy grin. He gives up his position defending against the two strange digimon and dives forward, curling into a large spinning ball.

"Rolling Stone!"

His heavy body slams against the leftmost enemy, and while their sizes are similar their weights are clearly not. It's tossed back a half dozen feet, actually passing by you. However this leaves the group of immature digimon utterly defenseless, something the other takes advantage of, sliding forward and opening its utterly massive mouth to reveal a wide, thick tongue. It's intentions towards your fellow villagers are very clear.

No. You. Don't!

"Raaagh! Drill Spin!"

Your nose bores through the green digimons rubbery flesh and pops out the other side with a hideous *Squelsh*. Ignoring the high pitched screech and disgusting feeling, you continue pushing forward, claws sweeping in from either side to impale the smaller mon's sides. With a burst of anger-fueled energy you lift the entire digimon up and continue forward, rushing past Lunamon to slam the foe directly into the nearby wall. Data and some kind of sticky, slimy liquid mat your fur, but you pay it no mind. Your razor sharp focus is instead dedicated to one very specific purpose. Letting loose another roar, you retract an arm, ripping it free from the foe along with a hemorrhaging chunk of flesh. The very next moment you jam it the drill claws back inside.

When you come back to your senses a few moments later all that's left of it is the slime coating your fur, and a few remaining wisps of data. An odd feeling comes over you as they come into focus, something that's hard to explains. An instinctive piece of knowledge snaps into place and something becomes crystal clear. If you were to will it to happen, then those trickles of data would come to you. Become one with you, bolster you, make you stronger. In the next split second you decide to:

=== (Choose One)

[] Load the defeated digimon.

[] Let the last bits of data fade away.

Authors Note: First 1500 words of the update and decision point in case I'm not able to finish the rest tonight. As a note, the vote won't effect much of the direct next update aside from a few lines here or there. Though it will have some longer reaching effects.

[X] Load the defeated digimon.

Was bound to happen at some point, let's see what rabbit hole this takes Verge down :V

[X] Let the last bits of data fade away.

Character building moment here. We killed these mon in an uncontrolled rage , and while it was to protect the babies I dont want verge following in the path of the rage mon he prob reincarnated from.

Not trying to make him a saint but I'd rather him not go down "my enemies all must die rarghhhhh"

I don't think it's all that great an idea to do this in front of our siblings.

Well that's not quite it.

This isn't a vote about rage, since he's calmed down a bit here, but rather just about the loading itself. This will influence his future choices when it comes to loading deleted digimon. (AKA, he'll try to do it more often than naught)

Loading itself doesn't look very scary. Whatever trauma that would happen already occurred when Verge tore that one Numemon apart. As a side note, Thresh like Verge more now.:p

[X] Let the last bits of data fade away.

Let's do something different than a certain other Digimon quest protagonist who's driven by his rage.

Funny but your last arguement can also work to defend my vote

Like I can't imagine Verge chasing digimon down to absorb but if some fucker is trying to kill/EAT our family why hold the fuck back?

Knowing when to go for the kill is also important

CAN WE FUCKING NOT

THIS QUEST IS THIS QUEST

THAT QUEST IS THAT QUEST

KEEP THINGS PROFESSIONAL AND SEPARATE

Oh uh I can see how my words might sound like bitching about the other quest but I promise that's not what I meant.

It's more of since I've already seen that kind of playstyle in another quest, I wanted to try something new and see where it went. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was trying to restart the old argument

Ngl loading Digimon is tempting as all hell, and is definitely something that I think should happen on occasion. However, I'd rather our growth be powered by training, and using our money to purchase good quality food, bedding etc.

I mean, I don't think being willing to load a killed opponent means Verge will stop doing any of those things. This is just a matter of whether he's currently willing to cross that line.

Here's my reason why I'm against Loading other Digimon. And no it's not to be a goody two shoes.

Heck I fully accept the concept of putting down enemies for the sake of others. It's killing for power's sake is were I draw the line.

I believe Strength should be attained through Determination and Hardwork. Either for the sake of others or themselves. Not by Murdering those one deems Acceptable and devouring thier soul. For what is Data to Digital Monsters but thier very essence.

I mean, it's more like eating their flesh. The core still reincarnates regardless. The way I see it, it's the difference between making use of a corpse and wasting it.
