I'm not going to lie, i'm very partial to the idea of gladimon myself. None of the other lines particularly jump out and scream at me about how awesome their outcome will be. I will admit Galantmon is kind of overdone but there are other royal knights we could end up as and I kind of feel like we are going to need that level of power to win in this quest.
I already loss hope on the first Mega evolution (Plutomon is basically impossible to get) that I wanted for Verge so I am pretty much just want three things on the Mega Form.

A) Be Humanoid.
B) Be just fucking badass
C) Be one of the strongest species to complete Flamemon dream.

So Royal Knight, God Digimon or someone that is marked as a final boss type of digimon.

One of the default Ultimate evolutions for Gyrzmon is the Dog Deva, who both uses magic and has a personality that fits Verge. Very viable to aim for a Sovereign species from there.

Not a humanoid, but very easily hits all the other points you mentioned.

Apollomon is probably the best bet for most of you're points, and we can get there by going full diggy diggy :p

A deva is more or less great if there is a chance of becoming a Sovereign, The White Tiger really fits as is the 'Youngest of the four' and if they began to exist after Verge becomes one then the Black Turtle fits too as he is the 'Oldest of the four'.

Yeah Apollomon is one of the best megas of existence and uses fire making it even better on a style of "I haved inhereted your burning will Flamemon." is basically really impressive if we manage to get him.

7nth Day Of Light: On The First Mission
[] Don't ask her. Frigimon has helped more than enough and you don't want to put more responsibility on her.

===

Pidmon arrives at the mansion early in the next morning to gather yourself, Sparks and Beat up for the new squad's first official mission. Oddly enough, the angelic champion now bears a new accessory; namely, a very large, extremely heavy looking backpack. Something that's actually weighty enough to actually keep the religious mon from flying.

Frigimon takes it well enough, wishing the group farewell and even gifting you each a loaf of Travel Bread in case someone gets hungry while on the mission. In the end, you'd chosen not to ask the champion to train your KoDokugumon as, she clearly has enough on her plate already given her position and previous promises. You didn't want to put anything else on the caretaker.

Sparks is caught between being excited to get started on the *path to vengeance* so to speak, and his natural nervousness over the fact that he'll likely see combat again soon.

On the other paw, you're still wary about the entire subject, and thus do your best to keep a level head about matters. Though honestly, leaving the KoDokugumon behind is more than a little painful. Not that you'd ever admit it, but you've come to enjoy their near constant presence on your back, even if carrying the brothers had been uncomfortable at times.

Beat meanwhile is very eager to go; even if he tries to hide it under his stoic exoskeleton you still catch his antennae wiggling. The small rookie is the first one out of mansion's double doors, rushing ahead of Pidmon and hurrying down the road.

However, before he can make it very far, a blue shape rips past you, knocking Sparks over in the process. The speedy Wormmon has perhaps a few moments of freedom before a crying round figure wraps her arms around him.

Despite his struggling, the insect digimon can't so much as wriggle an inch free from Drop's grasp. You can't help keep yourself from staring at the strange sight, even while hauling the one-armed Candlemon back to his feet with a paw.

...Alright. Maybe she's stronger than I thought.

Sparks briefly chuckles, watching the uncomfortable rookie squirm in his *friend's* hold.

The bawling aquatic digimon hugs Beat for thirty-seven seconds, wailing for him to keep safe, and about how she'll miss him, before finally letting go. Your comrade lets out a single annoyed scoff at her words then turns away.

"I will be fine. Do not waste your time worrying."

*Sniff* *Sniff* "Okay..."

Pidmon, who'd been waiting patiently with a smile on his face, gives a single *Hyuk* at the proceedings, then strides forward. Your group leaves the crying Otamamon behind. Beat doesn't look back.

The winged champion doesn't wait more than thirteen seconds before breaking off into a loud speech.

"Glorious day, my fellow warriors! Today we embark upon our first mission as part of Sergeant Gladimon's squad. I've never been part of one myself but I'm sure it will be most pleasant to help the Blessed Host reach its goals. Maybe it means I'll even see Angemon again!" The accessory wearing champion thrusts a fist into the air triumphantly...then pauses as the surrounding mon in the town look at him. Pidmon lowers his fist to his mouth, lets out an embarrassed cough and then starts talking again, albeit quieter this time.

"From what I know, we'll be heading out from the town on tasks but," He lets out a disappointed sigh. " Sergeant Gladimon said we'll be meeting him near the front gates for a support mission."

That. Well, it doesn't sound so bad. Still have to be careful.

"He told me that since we have three rookies, our squad won't be doing any heavy fighting for a while. Not until two of you digivolve." a hint of jubilance lines his next words. "Having two more champions will surely allow us to properly fight for the host! Hyuk, Hyuk, Hyuk, Hyuk"

Beats lets out an annoyed "Tsk" at Pidmon's words, but he doesn't exactly disagree with the sentiment of staying out of heavy combat for now.

Pidmon continues speaking as you travel down the brick road (you're careful not to get your claws stuck this time), theorizing that you'll all be be doing some training until everyone is ready to fully their proper their proper duty to god.

Overall it's a lot better then the worst outcome you feared, I.e. the host throwing you and Sparks right into battle. The crippled Candlemon gets more and more nervous as you approach the town's main gate, and once again ends up holding onto your arm.

All four of you arrive at the exit a few minutes later, letting you get a proper look at the contraption. It's far different than the simple thick wooden door Gramps had made back at the village. Instead the ostentatious entrance is a set of massive interlocked metal bars lowered over the doorway. Tall stone rises above, in what looks like some sort of house. A small voice in the back of your head whispers that the barrier is called a portcullis.

Up above on the large walls flanking either side are massive chains, reaching into the structure. Massive racks are connected to the other ends, and from what you can tell by observing the large crossed bars, a mon would have to rotate both in order to lift the portcullis up.

A pair of large, green draconic champions stand at the stations, clearly ready to start turning it when the command is given. Sparks grips you a bit tighter as he sees them, but manages to keep himself from shivering. You're more than a little concerned by their presence as well, but manage to stop yourself from cowering away. Much like Flamemon would, you have to stand tall for those beside you.

At least, when I can.

Ardat and Scratch are already beside the barrier, though the former is engaged in an energetic talk with one of the champions, boasting about her magic.

Scratch ignores the loud proceedings entirely, favouring instead to walk right up to your group. All four members of the group stop as he approaches, you swallow nervously as his gaze drags across the members, and nearly flinch when he orders the squad to stand at attention.

Together with Sparks and Beat you're confused about what that means, but a quick prompt from Pidmon let's you know that it means "everyone stand up straight and don't move."

Scratch looks your shuffling forms over, then after correcting them to stand in line explains what's going on. The champion says that you'll all be heading northeast along the main road to the Locomon tracks. Sparks tries to ask what that is, but the sergeant cuts him off with a glare. Your friend flinches back, and the Gladimon continues, explaining things.

According to him, there's an incoming agent with a few carts' worth of supplies for the town. Your group is going to have to escort him back and protect his food from any feral threats or Gloaming sabotage. Though he doubts that they'd risk a direct attack so close to the towns.

Something about the word *Agent* makes you think of Sorcerymon, which leads to a few moments of intense sadness as you remember his last words to you.

"Ah won't last! Get Sparks and lea-Ugh!"

Count. Repulsa.

Ardat finishes her discussion with the dramon digimon a few seconds later, then rounds on the group. She asks if Scratch wants to use her *amazing wind magic* to help carry everyone over the gate and towards their destination, but the Gladimon refuses her offer with the dullest "No." you've heard in your life.

He elaborates that group is going to be walking the entire way, as "the Wormmon and Candlemon need to work on their stamina."

You notice that the Gladimon doesn't mention you in the statement, though whether it's because he's ignoring you or considers your endurance sufficient you have no idea.

The Witchmon frowns at Scratch's words and crosses her arms with a huff. Though that only lasts until she spots you again. Ardat flashes you a disturbing grin filled with pointy teeth then lifts her left hand up in an enthusiastic thumbs up.

You don't really get why, and honestly, you don't really want to.

Scratch shouts up to the champions manning the gates, and a moment later they each begin turning wheels, lifting the portcullis up.

With that the group leaves through the gate at an easy jogging pace. The fact that the Witchmon seems to be prowling around you is a bit nerve-wracking.

=== Choice of who to talk to during the day walking:

[] Sergeant Scratch. You don't think he likes you, it's scary but...try to ask him why that is.

[] Pidmon, the angel digimon is friendly enough and quite talkative maybe you could learn more about the Blessed Host and immediate area from him?

[] Beat, he's been glaring at you again, and now that Frigimon is gone you're pretty sure he's going to try challenge you to another spar tonight. See if you can talk to him.

[] Ardat. So much as you don't like being around the feminine digimon, she seems to know magic. Maybe if you asked her, she could help you study your next spell?

===

Authors Note: Originally I planned for more comprehensive dialogue this update. But I figured I could cut it without any problem so I could get it out tonight. Ardat saying something Chuuni and Drop crying have already been done.

Okay, so like I did a while back, I'll try a quick little overview of what our current options probably mean.

[] Sergeant Scratch. You don't think he likes you, it's scary but...try to ask him why that is.
This appears to result in us potentially getting an insight into Sarge's motives on why he didn't want to bring us along.
Could be useful to know what goes on in that chrome-plated noggin of his. 'specially since he's apparently our boss' boss or something?

[] Pidmon, the angel digimon is friendly enough and quite talkative maybe you could learn more about the Blessed Host and immediate area from him?
Pros: More info on who we're working for, the surrounding area, and so on.
Cons: His overly jovial and chatty nature could possibly irritate Verge.

[] Beat, he's been glaring at you again, and now that Frigimon is gone you're pretty sure he's going to try challenge you to another spar tonight. See if you can talk to him.
What more can I say here that I didn't say the last time I did one of these for an option involving Beat?

[] Ardat. So much as you don't like being around the feminine digimon, she seems to know magic. Maybe if you asked her, she could help you study your next spell?
She might be offputting at times, but she seems to mean well enough. as the option says, we might have a shot at getting some input from her regarding our progress with High Programming. and if Sparks is along too, then he might rocket even further!
I mean, it's implied he got hella progress with just us helping him get the hang of it. imagine how much further he could go with help from someone who actually does know what they're doing in regards to High Programming!

All in all, there's plenty of appealing options here! it's a shame there isn't the option to pick two options, otherwise I'd go with that.

The more we fight Beat, the stronger he'll be as a champion. Plus, it'll also help raise Verge's fighting skill, and getting that nice and high early on will reap great dividends in the future.

RIP Beat. Potentially fun character sidelined by waifus and magic

Beat is to low in Fortitude for us to spar effective

The last Time we "fought" we injuried him with a single Strike

Therefore we should put that off until either Scratch starts giving Beat some Fortitude training or we train some more Agility to get a high enough reaction time to avoid hard injuries

In regards to the current vote I suggest Ardat, since due her personality I doubt she will keep quite once she learns we know Magic

Which makes it a roundbout way for the Serg to learn of our Skills in Magic and might convince him to supply us with additional training/resources to mold the "unwanted grunt" into something actually useful for him

It is physically and mentally impossible for me to not choose this option.

Posting on borrowed phone.

Well, the trip is several days long. Odds are average can talk to multiple people over the days.

-[X] Make sure that she hears you first, and use the weak healing spell when Sparks feels tired to help him recover his stamina. Also Beat if you believed that he is tired but Sparks have priority.

I want to use healing magic every time that I can cast it. It helps us to work on our weak reserve and helps with High Programming skill train.

This guy is our CO. It means that he can make our life living hell should he so choose. Best to try and get on his better side as soon as possible, or at least find out why he seems to hold us in such low regard so it's not sabotaging squad interactions.

Let's start a tutor chain!

Ardat tutors Verge who tutors Sparks!

As I'm rather interested in why this worm is so hotblooded and fight happy.
We only got given one piece of food for a trip that's multiple days long?

Man this army is stretched thin!

An army runs on its stomach!
Pretty sure we are heading to some kind of forward base to do some work and will be spending some time there before heading back. So less us getting one ration for a week and more we got lunch for the walk to the place we will be stationed at for a short time.

Or at least that is my reading on things.
