Verge the only ways I think you can push your body further at this point is doing all your work out that you normally do but in flux mountains lava or have a mega stronger then Pilevolcamon regularly spar with you for how many days you would have left in flux mountain after you hunted down Saberleomon.
SaberLeomon is a known evolutionary pathway to Bahimon whom we are already showing signs of. Loading it should increase that effect.

And then there's the feeling to the west. I bet good money that's the code crown that would more than even the odds

I mean already been over the saberleomon thing awhile back and how whilst Verge emight get more out of it then normal the gains are still gonna get cut down by the caps.

Even if it was that would require Verge to go look for it which he doesn't seem to want to do currently even after the strange feeling keeps pop up.

We can probably look for it after the hunt

We can already do that. We're a fair bit stronger than pilevolcanomon and he's not weak.
He's specifically a low end mega. Megas like the WarGreymon that Bulwark has and the MetalEtemon we know are stronger than him, but probably aren't in the top half of the server's megas (Ophanimon, SlashAngemon, Duftmon, Malkimon, Anubismon, Imperialdramon, Vulcanusmon, etc).

I think it's more that Pilevolcanomon would still win most of the time, it's just that Verge in can win against him not it'd happen a lot.
Verge is swiftly reaching the point where he can handily defeat Pilevolcamon, right now he'd win more times than he'd lose.

Their skill difference had become almost negligible, Verge outstats him even before Wrath Mode comes into the equation, and Verge's Mantra Chant is quite unfair.

The biggest thing PVolcamon has going to win is his driver's and diamond fist, which together hit really hard.

Verge be scary skillwise.... especially for a mon with only two combat related skills.... well ok 3 but one of those is very new..... 4 if you count spirit manipulation despite explicitly being on combat.

Ah okay then. Good to know.

Verge with a code crown would be probably very concerning to just about everyone.

I'd assume that generally a sov would own the code crown for whatever region they live in.
Possible? Code Crowns don't seem to generally cover an entire direction of the server though.... huh I wonder if areas under a Sov's dominion tend to produce less Code Crowns than normal.

Edit: Alternativly I could also see mon using a Code Crown to become a Sov flat out permanently absorbing said crown as part of the ascension given how integrated with the server Sovs are.

I wonder if Verge would use the code crowns control over ferals for anything if he did ever manage to get one for himself.

This does make me wonder.... how do Sovs interact with Code Crown users?

ie: They are supposed to be part of the server itself while a Code Crown user rules over their specific area.
I imagine they just sort of let them do their thing so long as they don't endanger the overall stability of the world or usurp the sovereign.

The problem with facing Verge is that he's so skilled as a whole (and generally skilled in those specific subsets) that it all sublimes together into something ludicrous. I'd argue the only thing that isn't quite falling into that category yet is high programming, and while the esoteric expressions of it are always going to be beyond him, holy and metal magic should be pretty achievable to him and I'm still desperately praying for a training montage with Malkimon where he takes Scratch style buffs and personal magic to the next level. Verge is never going to be a reality warping archwizard, but for example- someone who infuses their nature as a shield and Avalon into a spell like Holy Barrier Enclose for defensive holy spells of hilarious potency? That doesn't seem out of reach. If he can infuse Avalon and his nature into Mantra Chant, why wouldn't he be able to do so with the suitable spells? Especially if the Server's only Caster Mega helps teach him.

Especially since Drexal has hinted at the possibility of Verge picking up trinary in terms of self modification/enhancement.

Speaking of.

Currently Verge biting attacks are his only natural weapons unable to inflict a status effect.

However as it turns out venomous mammals utilize the same substance in most mammals spit (Just super concentrated) in order to make their venom, additionally at least two Leomon variants despite being on very different routs have poison of their own.... and Verge might be able to pick up a spell line that focuses on self modification.

.... now I'm not saying we should see if he can use it to give himself a venomous bite.... but no wait I'm exactly saying that.

I would think with the Sovs basically being admins on their server, that they get to control code crown production and Distribution to a certain degree…

It is quite possible that a sov could in their given 1/4 of the server just take away a code crown from a Digimon. I mean the Sovs certainly did more ridiculous things in the past so it's not that out there…

A Swiftly Made Offer

If one were to imagine where the female competitor known as Cyberdramon Blue (Or to one Gluttonous idiot, CB) would be after such a loss, a noodle bar staring forlorn at a half eaten bowl of booze-soaked noodle would not be anyone's first guess.

Or their second, third, or fourth guess for that matter.

And yet there the ultimate sat, silently chewing on her noodles as the Flamelizardmon who ran the restaurant made her another batch, gazing sympathetically at her all the while. He'd seen many a contender come through his shop looking to drown their sorrows in food after a big loss. She wouldn't be the first, nor the last. Though pouring alcohol into his cuisine was certainly… a new development.

A bottle of booze lay right beside her, untouched as of yet. The vaccine type took one look at it and popped the cork off with her teeth, before she poured the entire bottle into her extra large bowl of noodles as she took another slurp of now slightly boozy noodles.

Staring down into the brown liquid. In one fell swoop, her only chance of saving her beloved master had gone up in smoke. All because of that Daemon-damned Angel.

'Now that bastard Astamon is going to execute him.' She felt her teeth grind together as tears started to well up unbidden. She stamped those feelings out with an explosive sigh. The harsh training she went through in the Gloaming, as well as her refusal to ever show weakness in front of others were the sole reasons she hadn't started crying in full.

It wasn't like she hadn't tried hard enough, CB had put countless hours into reworking the 'gift, she was given into the perfect tool to enhance her fighting style. What use was having divine strength or the world's greatest skill if you couldn't even hit your opponent?

She wasn't foolish enough to play around with honor, only people who had nothing to lose could afford that concept. She used every tactic or tool she could if it meant she could save him.

But even then, even with that flashy bastard imposing a goddamn handicap on himself at her taunting, it was all for nothing because she still couldn't fucking beat him!

So engrossed in her own self hate, she didn't notice another guest entering the bar as a bag of bits was tossed over to the owner as a familiar mon entered the area.

"Sup, gimme like, the biggest bowls you can make… ten of 'em please." Ser Schwartz requested, walking in as he took a seat next to his pal.

"Hey CB… I'm sorry about your loss." The hungriest member of Bulwark said, placing a hand over the womon's shoulder. She ignored him, staring stoically down at her bowl of noodles, and only occasionally using her chopsticks to pick up a few before mechanically consuming them.

"Uh… gotta say, I was like, really hoping you would beat that Angel guy." He spoke slowly, chewing on some breadsticks laid out for guests as the chef got to work on making his food. "Don't let Verge or anymon hear, but I kinda wanted you to win the whole thing. Mmm, almost considered betting money on you evem." He joked, getting no response from the Cyberdramon

She simply stared down at her noodles once more. Her expression hadn't changed beyond a slight downturn of her eye ridges and her mouth quivering slightly. Her fist tensed as a long line of bottles lay beside her, right beside a mountain of empty balls lined up on one another.

Schwartz opened his mouth to say something again before closing and looking away. He took a deep breath and reached out to touch her shoulder before in a flash she knocked his hand away and stared him down, rage in her eyes and a snarl on her face.

"What. Do. You. Want. Clown?! Come here to-to mock me in my hour of defeat?!" He could see tears slowly falling from underneath her visor.

"Huh?I-no I'd never do that… I just came to like, make sure you were okay after that fight." For the first time since CB could recall, the hungry Baalmon was totally serious, a genuine concern in his wide red eyes that made her feel a twinge of guilt for assuming the worst of him.

"I… apologize for my reaction… I wasn't thinking straight, Ser Schwartz." She looked away as she wiped her tears with the backs of her hands.

He merely nodded, and sat in silence with her for a moment.

"So… I may have.. Half? Maybe a third? Kinda, lied a little about just wanting to talk." He began slowly glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. He felt the weight of her gaze settle on him.

"Then what did you come to do i-idiot." She muttered half-heartedly. Schwartz rallied himself for a moment before speaking.

"Oh, that's easy. Leopardmon doth wishes to have words with you… One on one too, he said it like, real important." The not-a-scion of Gluttony explained, finishing off the breadsticks as his food arrived. The massive bowls of noodles were placed beside him. CB stared at him a moment longer, before she snorted and looked away.

"Tch, what could he possibly want with me? I failed." She snarled bitterly. Schwartz felt himself wince before he blew out a sigh.

"But that's exactly why he wants to talk with you CB. He uh, said something about helping you accomplish your goal in the tournament? But he can't meet here so he sent me to come bring you back to base." Schwartz seemed to struggle with himself for a moment while speaking before he gave her a small smile to reassure her.

"You expect me. A Gloaming officer, to leave neutral ground with you. A mon that I've met a grand total of twice. So that Daemon-Accursed cat can help me out of the goodness of his core? Is that right?" She asked in an incredulous tone as she sat back in her chair, the sheer gall of the statement seeming to shock her out of whatever haze had made itself home in her mind.

"I mean, lke… what other options do you really have?" He shrugged, watching as CB drew herself up, presumably for another tirade directed at him. However the wind seemed to flee from her sails after a moment, and she slumped down into her seat once more.

"You… may be right. Fine clown, take me to Leopardmon. I'll at least hear him out." She begrudgingly accepted, Schwartz nodded before turning to the waiter.

"Sweet. Uh, hey dude, can we like, get this all to go?" He asked, CB smacking a hand to her forehead and groaning in response.

"Ugh, why are you like this?…" She groaned out as Schwartz shrugged.

"I can't help being hungry, so…" As the food was packaged up he stood along with CB, and the two walked off to meet their transport back to Bulwark…

///

"Whoa food-for-brains, ya managed to score a date with her already?" Grand Vizier Sparks teased, a mocking smirk on his face, though it didn't reach quite as far as it once did.

"This isn't a date you-you wretch! He is merely my… escort." The CyberDramon in question blushed angrily while Schwartz just shrugged.

"Like, I guess man? Eh, we just need to get back to see the boss." He replied in the same mellow, unflappable tone he always used.

"Tch, you're no friggen; fun. Alright, all aboard air Sparks, watch your step when you head in!" He called, opening his book for the two to enter. CB narrowed her eyes with suspicion before a small shoulder nudge from Schwartz got her to enter. He followed suit with a jaunty wave in Sparks direction.

With a flick of his wrist it snapped close, and in a moment they'd crossed the distance from the outskirts of Arena City all the way to Bulwark HQ.

Going from the relatively temperate climate of Arena City to the equal parts freezing cold and boiling hot was disorienting for a moment, before the climate control of the Bulwark HQ kicked in to mellow it out.

"Alright ya schmucks, rides over now get!" Sparks ordered as the two mon were unceremoniously dumped from his book without so much as a by your leave. Before they could even protest, he had already teleported away to somewhere else entirely, leaving the two alone in a hallway.

"Dang. Mon's in a bad mood today. I wonder what happened?… oh well." Schwartz dusted himself off as he stood up to offer a hand to CB. She ignored it and stood up on her own, looking around at the concrete and exposed piping of the building they now found themselves in.

"Hmph, so this is your vaunted *Bulwark*? How plain, at least we have a sense of decor." She snorted and turned her nose up in a weak attempt to assert control.

"Yeah we don't uh… build for looks exactly. It's real tough though." Schwartz shrugged again as he began walking to where he knew Leopardmon's office to be.

CB stopped for a moment, before steeling herself, raising her head high and walking after Schwartz.

The doors of Leopardmons office were deceptively plain for an edifice that held behind them one of the most powerful Megas on the server.

"So… yeah. I'll be outside when you're done so we can head back and..." Schwartz trailed off as CB gave him a searching look before nodding and knocking on the doors in front of her.

"Ah, come in mon Cher!" A jovial and accented voice called from within. With a deep breath, Cyberdramon Blue opened the doors and steeled herself for what came next.

As per usual the feline Mega was lounging behind his desk, his ears perking up once she'd entered.

"Ah the lovely Cyberdramon Blue! Or just CB if you would prefer?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. CB felt her mouth twitch into a frown for a moment before she schooled her features once more.

"Just, Cyberdramon will do.Thank you." She tacked on the niceties at the end almost as an afterthought.

"Très Bien, very good. I must say your performance in the tournamenti was most excellent! An example for us all. Your use of your incredible speed was most clever." He spoke, a genial smile on his face.

"Spare me the flattery Leopardmon. Weboth know that's not why I'm here. What do you want from me, cat." She went on the attack immediately, searching for any reaction her words may have provoked.

The Mega's face was frustratingly hard to read, before his smile grew wider and he laughed.

"Shishishishi, ah I should have known you would react poorly to such weak attempts at cajolerie. Mes excuses, mon Cher." He demurred, CB merely crossing her arms and staring him down. "You see mon Cher, I believe you and I could benefit from a… mutual transaction." He began once again, his voice much more serious and his gaze sharp.

CB felt a shiver up her spine. Perhaps she'd been a bit hasty in attacking… She was alone with a Mega in hostile territory after all.

"You see, your seigneur, Andiramon? As I'm sure you know, he is under, how you say… threat from High Lord Astamon. I could… assist you in keeping your lord safe. With one condition of course." He continued with a smirk.

Condition... he would let her Lord die if she didn't do something for him.

"What… what do you want from me." She bit out, Leopardmon only smiled in response before speaking.

"I want you mon Cher. Serve Bulwark for a short few years, without complaint and with le plus grand professionnalisme. And in return I shall make sure your Lord may continue to walk beneath the sun to fulfill his ambitions. Sounds like a good deal, no?" Though he was still smiling, CB felt the coldness radiating from his half-lidded eyes. If he could protect her Lord… then he could surely kill him just as easily. So it would seem she had no choice…

"Bastard you… hmph. I seems… damnit. That's not an offer I can refuse…" Saying the words left the bitter taste of defeat in her mouth. It seemed that lately all she could manage were pointless victories and crushing defeats.

"Magnifique! Magnificent. With business concluded I would ask that you leave my office, I'm quite busy after all. Though please feel free to enjoy our hospitalité while you stay." His smile never wavered as he dismissed her and went back to inspecting his paperwork. She felt her wings flutter with disappointment. Reduced to another lackey for a Lord she never wanted to serve… How pathetic. She turned and walked from the room in silence.

When she left she found Schwartz waiting exactly where she'd left him.

"So you did wait, clown." It was the only thing she could think to say after that ordeal.

"Dude, of course I follow through with my word. It's like, what a knight does CB." He replied, the two of them began to walk the empty hallway together.

"How… how do you deal with Leopardmon constantly? Just being in the same room as him for a few minutes was enough to rattle my core." She broke the ensuing silence as she glanced over at the nonchalant Baalmon, his arms crossed behind his head as he looked back at her.

"Oh, easy. Leopardmon's like my… dad? Eh, he raised me anyway, so. I guess I'm just used to it?" He replied with a small shrug as he looked back ahead.

CB stopped dead in her tracks for a moment, her mind struggling to process just what she'd heard. She blinked a few times, before blurring in front of Schwartz to stop right in front of him and grab his shoulders in a vice-like grip.

"That-that cat adopted you!?" She shouted, her face twisted into an expression of pure shock as she shook him violently.

Schwartz didn't get to respond before CB had blurred forward once more with him in her grip to the cafeteria.

She sat him at a bench and came back with food for the both of them before sitting right across from him.

"Tell me everything. Now." She demanded. She had to know how… this could possibly have been raised by… that.

"Uh… okay? I guess it started when I hatched and started trying to eat everything in sight…" He trailed off as the story began. They would be there for quite a long time.

///

Leopardmon could only laugh in his office. Another potential asset secured in the short-term, and her budding friendship with Ser Schwartz could just as easily secure her long-term loyalty, or at the very least non-aggression.

Yes, all was proceeding according to the scenario he'd so carefully laid out. Now… there was the not so easy task of fulfilling his end of the deal. Breaking Andiramon out of the Gloaming's prison would prove… troublesome. But it was not above his abilities, not by a long shot.

Once he was safely out of Astamon's reach, Andiramon could join Ardat as safely propped up figureheads for the Gloaming. The perfect cover for Bulwark, and therefore the Great Tree's control.

"Ah, mon fils, you have given me yet another piece on the board without even knowing it! C'est mon garcon!" He laughed to himself, as he sent an order down to have Ardat draft the paperwork for an extended deep cover protection mission. Time was of the essence, and he was loathe to let an asset slip through his fingers through a lack of due diligence.
