Why does no one ever realize Verge is actually pretty damn smart?

I'm actually curious how a lot of the major players are seeing this. Astamon and probably Malkimon probably have figured out exactly what's going on, Calamaramon probably doesn't care, Metal Etemon knows Verge better than this, SlashAngemon is probably the only one who might be concerned here- or he could be familiar enough to know that Verge is just playing with his food...

Because he doesn't advertise it. A lot of people hear his first title and dismiss him as a meathead; not realizing the kind of mental ability it actually takes to do what he does.

Though I know its not Verges style, I'm really hoping he makes this painful. At least so Repulsa is traumatised by what he does too her.

Like what the Gloaming did to Frigimon...

I wonder if the way Verg and Sparks will mange to capture is that it will be revealed she tired to have Verg out right poisoned before this and might be considered a form of cheating and can no longer be protected buy the rules of the tournament.

35th Of Wood: The Legendary Warrior Of Wind: Repulsa POV Final
For a moment Repulsa's mind flashed back to the moment just over a week ago. When the terrifying Monster of a GrappLeomon's fist had flashed towards her face. And how for a split-second she'd witnessed Death coming for her.

The Shutumon wondered briefly, if just maybe she should have heeded Thresh's warning and forfeit the moment their match began. Despite looking like he was halfway to being deleted, *The Brutal Brawler* still thought he could tear her apart.

However as the world shifted, depositing both of them in a wide, onyx arena, Repulsa's pride and confidence reasserted themselves. Instead of running, the Shutumon crushed her fear, narrowed her eyes and smirked.

All she had to do was crush his confidence, then the rest would come.

She briefly scanned the round walls reaching up into the sky, and myriad pillars dotting the surroundings. Yes, this was a fantastic place for her to play with him~ .

Repulsa darted forward effortlessly sliding past his woefully slow punch with a cackle. Her talons flashed down, ripping open a shallow cut across the surface of his collar. An instant later, foul smoke arose from the shallow cut, her viral poison going to work on his flesh.

Ignoring the incision, *Verge* opened his mouth and lunged forward in a painfully slothful bite. It was oh so easy to soar down and land another series of swipes on his unarmored belly.

Next was a kick, one oh so pathetic that she almost let it strike her out of pity. Almost.

At the last second she darted around it with another cackle, and rent the back of his leg.

Yes, this was what she lived for. Cutting down these unworthy beings that dared to think themselves her better, and basking in their helplessness!

Repulsa sped up, laughing as every rending slash weakened the *Hero* bit by bit. The Mutant's every attack grew sluggish and weak, mirroring his true pathetic nature. And in turn the Shutumon's certain victory drew closer as her claws flashed at every opening like a single-womon swarm. The Legendary Warrior ripped into his thighs, neck, arms and legs. As the seconds pass his entire body became a living testament to her speed and skill! A living testament to her victory!

She finishes the flurry off with a pair of slashes to the back of his knees, toppling him down to the ground with a final mocking cackle.

Repulsa floated back for a moment, preening at her work. Finally the pathetic Lion had been forced down to his proper level. And what was this? The poor thing was shaking now! She'd already driven him to despair!

How amusing.

"Aaw, crying already?~" Repulsa sing-songed, floating closer to his bent form. "I thought you were going to take my wings?" The Shutumon reached out for the top of his head, intent on forcing the pathetic mole to look into her eyes. Well, at least before she took his remaining one. "Well don't worry, far from done~ I won't stop until-"

The GrappLeomon Breathed, then threw his head back to let out a deafening rumble.

"Ze Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

He was… he was laughing?! He was laughing at Her?!

Repulsa blinks, a sinking feeling settling in her core as the roaring is suddenly cut off.

"Is that what you thought?" Verge's single eye locks onto her, unflinching and overflowing with contempt. "The only thing I'm feeling now is disappointment."

The Shutumon went still, then snarled in fury.

"Enough playing, I'll make you scream for death little mole!" She darted behind him, wind forming on the surface of her claws. Repulsa's talons rent towards his ridiculous Mane, ready to tear right through the indigo hair-

-they bounced off.

And a grip of tempered iron wrapped around her neck.

The GrappLeomon Repulsa was sure she'd crippled, rose up. His sizzling, smoking wounds went fallow, the poison fading as if it had never entered his system in the first place.

This wasn't possible! Her virus was rated to weaken Megas! She had to- she had to-

Verge's crippled eye, the injury she'd so gleefully inflicted refocuses. A slitted pupil appearing within it and boring into her.

"Our match. Starts now."

Then the world became a blur as the mutant's hand slammed her through a pillar.

===AN: Stopping here for today, with the end of Repulsa's POV. Tomorrow we continue with Verge's POV! And a couple things get explained.

Yes, oh sweet catharsis. So it seems Sparks did fake her out with the poison in some way, and Verge had to act through it. Not that it was hard given how she was only seeing what she wanted to see.

I genuinely wouldn't put it past poison to be a pretty poor bet against Verge considering how much he's gotten hit by over time. Especially if you consider the fact he's been heavily dosed with corrosive lust viral data that would make Bulwark's best look tame. Maybe he'll take up mithridatism as a hobby.

She really wanted to have Verg suffer and destroy his reputation by breaking him. Yet If the plan is to capture her tho then her final moment being seen by the public is gonna be her getting manhandled by Verg, probably begging for mercy or for anyone to save her before she vanishes possibly never to be heard from again by the server at large.

The Beast-Man stomped out shakily, his every move sluggish and strained. His single working eye snapped onto her, flaring with oh so delicious hatred and pain. She hadn't believed that the Wisemon's poison would be this potent, but here it was. Between his drugged drink and those restraining spirals, *The Brutal Brawler* could barely walk!

Oh, so Verge is wearing restraining spirals after all. Or at least convincing facsimiles.

Wait if verge deletes her doesn't he get disqualified?? I forget. Also how does that work since I thought the "losers" basically get restored to normal after a match from the pocket realm

Verge doesn't advertise his brainz very much. He's never really been a squad leader. He looks scary and mostly uses Martial Arts so most mon assume he's just a fighter. Magic's a bit of a giveaway, but non-High programmers mostly have no idea how hard it is.

… come to think about it, Verge hasn't had much chance to show off his intelligence. He gets a lot from Malkimon. Maybe he should pick up chess, keke. I wish I could write chess matches.

Astamon is amused. Going Just. As. Planned. :V

SlashAngemon is releived, and now applauding Verge's spirit.

Calamaramon (since you mentioned her) is amused, she may have provided Sparks a little assistance here in planning.

MetalEtemon is sure that Verge is up to something, and is sandbagging hard. He's rubbing his hands now in anticipation.
So question about mon who use spirits, if they lose it does how they raised their power ( training vs loading) effect how much their stats drop by?
Their power would still be whatever it was when they got the spirit. i,e. base form remains the same.

He'd be disqualified if he deleted her aye. Losers get ported off to be tended to medically.

Verge's intelligence is kind of like Spark's ability to backhand even strong digimon through a wall, you don't know about it until it's too late.

Really the only Mon to experience the full force of his intelligence is Deimos.

And he's still traumatized by the experience

Did Sparks reverse engineer how to redirect a teleport? Malkimon proved it could be done, and if she would let anyone get away with it in her city, it would probably be Verge and Sparks. She just needed to be lulled long enough for Verge to tag her with whatever Sparks needed.
