My response.

Absolutely glorious. I think I'm going to cry.

Oh. Just something to think about. We now have Collateral Damage on the Purifier Beam, so when we get a chance we need to take a training option so we can toggle that on and off, and if we are lucky we might even figure out a new trick or two.

@crystalwatcher. how would a MG team's synchronization effect be expressed, in terms of traits and mechanics? I'm thinking about trying a second (well, third if you want to be technical) team that will hopefully become canon, and I thought I'd go with synch version instead of role version like I did with the Dames.

Just have an ability or two that cause parameter multiplications when in the presence of certain other members of the team.

This more or less. Much like the Maidens have with their Switch ability. Nothing too complicated.

Combined with all the Intercept related abilities, that sounds terrifying.

:o
.............Does that bypass things like Core Connection and Echo of Peace?
No, because those count as individual abilities. Not synchronization.

So here are the Four Huntresses! I decided to go with a RWBY theme again, but lower their power levels and get rid of the Hope source affinity. This time, they represent the 'united, people are capable of amazing things' aspect of RWBY, hence their shared ability. Individually, any one of them can be a threat, but with Strength United they became far more dangerous.

Nora's affinities come from her Semblance and personality. Her semblance inspired her Power of the Storm ability, and the grenade launcher aspect of her weapon inspired her spell. She probably joined because it's the expected thing, and maybe her friend Ren was injured in whatever caused her powers to awaken, and the Akashic Record promised that he'd get top of the line medical treatment to make it more attractive. I imagine she visits every two or three days.

Ruby's affinities also came from her Semblance and personality. I decided to bump up her High Speed Combat ability by a single level, then change her spell to make others able to handle more opponents. Like Canon, she'd be the youngest team member here, who knows about MGs through the shows and her big sister Yang (I may or may not make an expy of her here later). Her family would probably have convinced her to join up, since most Independents wind up dying.

Cinder's affinities came from her powers and actions (seeing a trend?). I imagine that she'd be in awe of, and envious of the Godddesses at the same time. In my head canon for her here, her hometown was under attack a few years ago, and one of the Goddesses saved her. Depending on how long ago Hope occurred, it could be that her town was attacked attacked by one of the UD Goddesses as a distraction for something. That would definitely leave a mark, and being saved by Gold would only increase that. So she's jealous of their power, and intellectually realizes that she's not likely to reach their level, but still searches for a way to upgrade her Growth Affinity out of a desire for more power. Huh. Did not expect to put that much thought into this. Anyway, she's the oldest, having awoken her powers the day before her eighteenth birthday.

Penny's affinities came from her robotic nature and her purpose. She's also the odd one out, having a transformed body that is notable different. She might be the third type of magical girl, and may or may not angst about her possible loss of humanity. I haven't decided yet. Anyway, here she used to be an ordinary girl until her powers awoke.

So, what do you think?

@crystalwatcher! I'm calling you out!

I'm accusing you with crimes against continuity, and the manslaughter of my growing timeline. I present The Evidence:

Magic was discovered by Humanity ten years ago during the February of 2001. Turkish Doctor Tan Karan PhD., used the scientific method to solidly prove, in his words, "That it is possible to manipulate the quantum layer of reality with nothing more than one's own willpower." The resulting tests and publication of said tests shocked the world.

These two highlighted bits together imply that the quest takes place during 2011, and I'd begun building my timeline with that fact as my keystone.

But!

Juggernaut Drive dead, Solid Drive missing, and Judgement Drive left to pick up the pieces.

Goddess Grey had walked away with nary a scratch.

The result had been devastating for the Unified Light. The rising stars swept from the board, the hope of the war tipping into the favor of the Light crushed... That had been four years ago.

"Alexandria Soft
January 1st, 1995 to December 31st, 2012
A loving daughter and close friend.
'May nothing stand before you in the next life, my juggernaut.'"

Juggernaut Drive having died in 2012, and that being four years ago adds together to the quest taking place in 2016, a full five years difference.

Now, there was the chance that miss Alexandria was actually Juggernaut Core, not Drive, and that her death took place very recently, in which case the your previous implication was only off by a year. Then this was uncovered:

Don't remember making a Juggernaut Core.

Damned by your own admission.

And here we have the victim, a timeline brutalized and ended by your poisonous tongue:

Nearly 8000 years ago:
Beginning of the Eternal War over a philosophical disagreement

Febuary 2001:
Magic is proven to exist

Jan-May 2003:

You have five years to account for, Watcher. How do you plea?

Well... there's clearly one of us here paying close attention to the important things!

... not that the level of stuffed fluff in Nepgear is not important or our XP / Stat powers... but TIMELINES YAY!

One problem: it works on the assumption that Alexandria is actually Juggernaut Drive, and the epitaph isn't a red-herring.

Another option is that Nepgear, as shown before, is an unreliable narrator. As such, some things like exact dates should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

Another option is that Nepgear, as shown before, is an unreliable narrator. As such, some things like exact dates should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
Actually, I've found evidence that points to it being a red herring:
After she turned seventeen she got a job and moved out, then fought mom in a legal battle for custody over me. After she won, mom killed herself. Moved to another city, but... you all know what happened to it.
Sega is 19 years old, and was a Magicl Girl on a team with her friends:
The Unified Darkness and the war with the Unified Light ran into Nepgear's continued health and happiness. She has nothing against demons or the like, but she has a problem with the fact if they won Nepgear might not stay safe. So she accepted the fact she had MG powers and worked with her friends to help win the war.
If Sega is indeed Solid Core, that means she was active when she was 13-15, depending on the exact time Solid Core was active compared to her recent birthday. Which suggests that they were around the same age, and lived in the same area.

Alexandria would not only have been several years older, but likely living in a different city.

As such, I suggest that if Sega is indeed Solid Drive, Alexandria could not have been Juggernaut Drive!

Alexandria would not only have been several years older, but likely living in a different city.
Not necessarily about the second. As Nepgear said:
After she turned seventeen she got a job and moved out, then fought mom in a legal battle for custody over me. After she won, mom killed herself. Moved to another city, but... you all know what happened to it.
They moved after Sega won the battle for custody of Nepgear. So they may well have been in the same area and friends at one point.

And about the 'several years older bit'. While the fact that Solid Drive worked with her friends to fight the UD would be suggestive that the Drives were the same age, it is by no means absolute that they are. The person we suspect to be Juggernaut Drive is named Alexandria Soft. Which well known console developer has the word 'soft' in its name? Microsoft. I actually think that the expy of Vert is Juggernaut Drive. Let's be honest here. Vert is noticeably older than Sega in Hyperdimension Neptunia, so I would expect an age difference between her and Sega. I had (and still have in a few cases) friends who were several years older than me.

At any rate, I suspect the mystery of Alexandria Soft and who the other Drives are will likely be solved in-character soon enough with Sega, Judgement Core, and Noire (presumably Judgement Drive) around.

Not necessarily about the second. As Nepgear said:

They moved after Sega won the battle for custody of Nepgear. So they may well have been in the same area and friends at one point.
Which happened when Sega was 17. The Drives were active for a relatively short amount of time, less then 6 months. As Juggernaut Drive's death was also the point Solid Drive disappeared, if Sega was Solid Drive, she retired at 13-16 years old. Well before she and Nepgear moved elsewhere.
And about the 'several years older bit'. While the fact that Solid Drive worked with her friends to fight the UD would be suggestive that the Drives were the same age, it is by no means absolute that they are.
Which is why I said "suggests".

Banana?

I'll try to figure out where I lost those years.
Large Scale Magical Accident. Everyone knows that Really Important Stuff happened during those five years, but they'll be damned if they can remember. Even Gaia and her peers are stumped and if Cosmos knows, she ain't telling. Naturally, there are many researching what happened during those years and what exactly caused the loss of those five years from all races' collective memory, but there hasn't been much progress on either side of the war.

And of course, being the protagonists of this story, the task of discovering what the fuck happened during those years falls onto Anastasia and Team Gear, and boy were those some bizarre years...
That was literally one of the proposed plots for Drakengard 3. Except it would have been called Drakengard 4 and the plot would revolve around finding out what the fuck happened during Drakengard 3.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I mean, in just two weeks we're good enough to not instantly die to a serious Goddess grey. What excuse did the drives have, when they were working three on one?

Obviously, there were Shenanigans.

If I had to guess? Grey went full on UBW and started flinging around ALOT more dangerous shit then just plain steel swords fired at Mach Three.

Edit: Looking at Grey's sheet, with her Peerless Skill enabling her spend a single action to nullify a opponents action, and her having what counts as a limitless number of attacks, she probably bombarded everything around her in a never ending rain of steel, blocked every attack they could launch at her, and just continued into infinity until the Drives lost.

Fighting Grey is like fighting Gilgamesh's Gate Of Babylon fused with UBW. You can't get close to her without being wrecked by her weapon bombardment, you can't fight at range when she legit has a limitless amount of weapons to spam at you, and every attack you do make is blocked by one blade and countered with three more.

This implies that Grey wanted to little-sister us, you know. You should be careful with your implications. @crystalwatcher might read them and get ideas. Warm ideas. 'Fluffy' ideas. Some might even call them... Huggable.
