I'm assuming that's the case considering she still is reaching out her influence to control her thralls
But we don't know how many more thralls Elsa Maria has, do we? We don't even know if she ever had any others besides Alina and her father. Anyone else who has been or is at risk of being kissed might just be a lamb waiting for the slaughter.

Er, wasn't Hitomi being mentally influenced by Elsa Maria to an extent?

I would assume that Elsa Maria would need plenty of thralls in order to create so many depictions as well, and if these depictions were around before Elsa Maria's familiars were killed they would've retained their invulnerability, would they have not?

Regardless, this conversation is taking a kinda meta turn, so do what you choose to do. You are the QM after all! :)

Influence, yes, but not control. It made her unwilling to throw the rosary necklace away even when she wanted to be rid of it, but it never outright took control of her to make her do anything. It just nudged her into not wanting to follow through on her desire to dispose of it.

You're right, this is getting meta. But that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying getting your take on things all the same.

You're so [REDACTED] the truth.

Well, what happens then really depends on whether the information we have speculated/found out is accurate or not. If Alina and her father really did make all of these depictions then something wonky is going on with their connection to Elsa Maria's familiars' invulnerability, and there's not much we can do about it. If it turns out they can't track the sigils, then there's not too much else we can do other than rely on Lancer's Berkano. If need be, if this ends up the case, I can have Archer supercharge Lancer's Berkano through means that I'll vote in if necessary (if that'll even make too much of a difference considering the wide-range scope of the sigils), however we simply don't know all of the information at the moment.

Fair enough. We still don't know all of the info when it comes to Elsa Maria's mechanics, so a lot of what I say might not align with whatever is actually happening in the background; the only way to find out is to discover more about Elsa Maria's nature in-story, presumably.

No need to worry about money, the Yakuza has plenty of Yen just lying around their storehouses. If not that, then Archer could turn lead into gold using the Sword of Paracelsus' Philosopher's Stone if need be.

Archer definitely cannot use Structural Analysis on such a wide scale (which I'm sure you're already aware of, since you put the "Don't do that"). Sadly we can't just put in generic commands for Archer to Project things as SVS needs to know what exactly we're going to be having Archer Project, otherwise SVS would have to spend way too many hours researching vague and contradictory mythology in search of multiple weapons of such a classification and translating it into Nasuverse terms and abilities.

[jk] [Archer] Somehow accdientally convince Lancer and Assassin to go on a date with you.
But, I thought the plan was to try setting Archer up with either Sayakamom or Kirikamom over the weekend. This isn't the VN, and we don't have time to devote to giving Archer a route for each of the adult females within arm's reach of the Redman. We need to narrow our focus down to just a single heroine if we want to succeed.

That moment when you see video evidence that Gilgamesh was actually a great and caring king, as opposed to him in his angsty young adult years.

Day 31 Chapter 7
[X] Plan Hunting Season

"Then what shall we do when Lancer arrives?" Assassin asks. You're glad that, despite not being her master, she's still smart enough to defer to your greater familiarity with Mitakihara when out in the field. Even if all you're doing is relaying your master's orders to her, she could just as easily ignore them as long as they don't come directly from the master's mouth.

With a whispered chant, "I am the bone of my sword," you Trace the sword that once belonged to Rider's father. You used it to keep track of the former, false Assassin when she vanished into the fog, and your hope is that it will help you to find something again now. "That'll be up to what our master wants."

"Understood," Assassin says, vanishing into the air as her Presence Concealment takes effect, leaving you free to investigate to the east of the river.

Master, I have an idea. When Assassin or Lancer have found something, have them notify me instead of destroying it for themselves."

"And particular reason you want them to wait for you?"

"If it's intact when I arrive, I can make the rest of our search go a lot smoother if I use one of my swords to sniff out the scent of the emblems' magical energy."

"Alright. I'll let Assassin know, and I'll tell Mikuni Oriko to inform Lancer of your plan as well. But keep me posted as well; I want to know when
you find something also."

This was the site of the former 'Church' used by the witch's thralls, Sister Hope and her father, to lure in the unsuspecting and place them under the witch's power; finding something around here, even in this maze of warehouses, shouldn't be too difficult. At least, that's what you'd say if you hadn't already checked this place out once from afar, seeing just as much nothing then as you're seeing now. You know you're looking in the right area - or at least, the feeling in your gut is that you're looking in the right area. You're probably in the right area.

"So where the hell are they?" You yell your question to the heavens, tossing aside your sword in complete and utter frustration brought on by your your total inability to find even one stupid emblem. "Come on!" you yell, knowing that the emblems you search for have no way of responding back to you. "Show yourself already why don't you?"

The sound of your footstep changes; rather than the sound of your boot on the paved floor of the warehouse park, you hear the sound of something else being trod upon underfoot. Something hard, judging by the sound it made as it was trod upon, but also something small. You stop, and move your foot to see what you might have stepped on. A small wooden sunburst, painted in red and black, lies on the ground, its cord frayed and split at the ends. You lean down, letting the cord slip from the sunburst-shaped centerpiece as you pick it up and place it in your hand. It's the same as the one you helped Hitomi to destroy the other day; definitely one of Sister Hope's creations. But at the moment, it feels dead; giving no trace of magical energy by which to track the magical scent of its brethren.

You look around the warehouse park; this is roughly the area where the 'Church' once stood, so the necklace's presence here doesn't surprise you all that much. But who could have left it here? Was it left over from the days when the 'Church' was operational; or was it dropped here by someone else; another of the witch's thralls, perhaps, or someone else who decided to toss it like Hitomi did?

Well, the smart thing to do at this point would be to call it in to your master, and hope that either Assassin or Lancer will have managed to find something more substantial in their search. "Master, have you heard anything from Assassin..."

"... So you bought the necklace for Kaname-san after all, I see?"

Tomoe-san sits closest to you in the train car as the five of you make your way back to her apartment from your 'team-building' sojourn to the mall. You watch the city skyline racing past outside the window, and further beyond that you can see the sun setting in the west, casting long shadows over the city and tinting the sky a deep orange. You cannot hear them over the sound of the train as it rolls along, but you can imagine the school bells ringing, signalling the end of the day. You can see Madoka, Sayaka, and HItomi making their way home from a long day of classes. You can see on their faces that your presence is sorely missed by all, Madoka especially.

"Don't worry Madoka. Soon, this will all be over, and I shouldn't have to skip any more days of school to deal with important business."

Tomoe-san's question snaps you out of your musing. At well over 20,000¥ - and in fact coming closer to 30,000¥, even - the necklace was more than you had initially set out to spend on today's trip. But a quick stopover at the local Yakuza hideout should replenish the day's lost funds easily enough, and "I wanted to give her something back, for all the kindness she's shown me these past few weeks. I've never been particularly good at expressing my emotions to other people before, and I'm sure there are better ways to do so than buying her an expensive necklace, but-"

"-But it's because it comes from you, Akemi-san, that gives it its value to her; not how much you paid for it." Tomoe-san smiles as she places a hand on your shoulder, saying "I'm sure all you have to do to show her your appreciation is to be yourself. Remember, she loves you for you, not for what you do for her." Because if she judged you by what you've done, she would hate you for how many times you've failed her.

"Truly, you are wise beyond your years, Tomoe-san."

"Master, have you heard anything from Assassin, or from Mikuni regarding Lancer's status?"

You look over to Mikuni Oriko, who is quietly conversing with Kure Kirika about something, but you aren't in the mood to pry into the conversation at the moment. You've heard nothing from her since you first asked her for Lancer's assistance back at the jewellery store. "No, I haven't heard from either Assassin or Lancer. Why?"

"I was hoping that at least one of them would have been successful at finding any of the witch's emblems, because I sure as shit haven't."

And then, there's this news. You want to say "and just when things had been looking up," but how frequently do things look up for you in this timeline? "Have you found anything? It doesn't even have to be one of the witch's emblems; just tell me that you've found anything relating to the witch that could help us tonight, and I'll call it good enough."

"I found a discarded rosary necklace nearby the warehouse we blew up where Sister Hope and her father used to hold their sermons; but aside from that? Nothing."

Is that good enough?

Well shit, that means that when it all kicks off those familiars are going to spawn right next to people. And worse, quite a few symbols / Familiars will be mobile on brainwashed cultists. That's both conscripted masses and easy eats for the Witch.

-[] (Homura) First ask Oriko to get a status update from Lancer to see if she's had any luck on finding any emblems - charged with magical energy or not - with her Berkano rune; relay the results to Archer
-[] (Archer) Use Structural Analysis to look into its history and find out the most recent person to have held the rosary besides you and try to glean as many details as you can, just in case. Once you've gotten everything you could out of it, destroy it.
-[] (Archer) If it seems like Lancer is capable of tracking Elsa Maria's sigils given enough time, even if she hasn't necessarily found any just yet, have your Master relay instructions to Lancer through Oriko on a location where they could meet up that's in between where the two of them are
--[] Once you've met up with Lancer, project the Sword of Paracelsus that Alaya recently showed you and have Lancer draw her Berkano runes to track the symbols you're looking for using the sword as a focus like any other Azoth blade

Using the Sword of Paracelsus solely as a focus and amplifier will cost nothing to use, just like any other Azoth blade; the only Prana costs will come from projecting it and if it's more esoteric abilities are used, such as it's Philosopher's Stone or using the blade to copy the magical ability of another person or object. That said, being the Origin of Azoth, using this sword as an amplifier is going to be absurdly useful and will blow any modern methods that Magi use as amplifiers/foci out of the water; even to the modern day in this universe Magi are still using knockoffs of Paracelsus' sword in the form of an Azoth Blade that just about every Magi family passes on to their students due to how useful even a shadow of Paracelsus' design is.

In any case we just gotta wait to see if any of the above will work or not.

I'm going to say this right now. There are hundreds of these things scattered about the city, and you will not find them all in time. The only way you could find them all in time is if you didn't have to worry about time, but then Homura doesn't have enough Grief Seeds for you to find them all.

This is why we have to pay tribute to the Gacha gods, otherwise we get an Assassin Servant whose Noble Phantasm is useless - and incredibly obstructive - to our goals instead of summoning Hundred Faces Hassan. /s

Hm, not sure what else we can do then, especially when Elsa Maria's familiars start rampaging about.

You can pray to the gacha gods, leave an offering of quartz and Black Keys, say five YOROKOBE SHOUNENs, and hope that you get a five-star Saber to make up for the garbage luck of your guaranteed Assassin ticket.

And Gachaisnacht said "let there be no 5-stars", spreading despair across the world.

But yeah, the necklace could be nothing, and it could be something, and I'm not sure how to feel about it, but we need to do anything, because time is ticking down. I'm not entirely sure what the "is that good enough?" vote means anyway. Does it mean we think the necklace was a sigil whatever or not?

We're not hugging Mami. Not after that timeline.

-[X] Yes
--[X] The amount of sigils that are scattered about the city and the time it'd take to locate them is far too great, and Elsa Maria is going to rise very soon; sadly, you'll have to let this go, unless anyone else has any good ideas
-[X] (Homura) Before the group heads on back, stop on by somewhere remote - probably around the Sakura Church - in order to test whatever it is you've gleaned from practicing Isa. Ask Mami to apply her Grief dampening effect to you before firing whatever it is off; it wouldn't do to not know your full capabilities before this big battle happens, after all.
-[X] (Homura) Ask Mami if she could ask Caster about this mystery Servant that he seems to think might have taken out Assassin; it'd be good to know if they might have an additional ally against whatever monstrosity Elsa Maria turns out to be. Who knows, this might be a Servant of an abnormal class container like Bazett was so concerned about from before?
-[X] (Archer) Use Structural Analysis to look into its history and find out the most recent person to have held the rosary besides you and try to glean as many details as you can, just in case. Once you've gotten everything you could out of it, destroy it.

Where you at, mystery Servant? Running with the "abnormal class container" bit since Homura's aware of such a thing, but not Apocryphas. That is, if it even is an Apocrypha. Hopefully it is to add some conflict in between the end of this day and Walpurgis, and Homura and co have definitely tripped the conditions of starting one anyways what with them not killing each other for the Holy Grail and all.

Also we're not hugging Mami; Homura's hugs are valuable because Madoka has a monopoly on them currently, giving them out like that to someone who's not at an 8 on the relationship scale is going to devalue them on the Puella Magi Stock Market.

Psh, listen to this guy try to talk economics. Madoka has a majority share of Homura hugs, not a monopoly. Sayaka and Hitomi each have micro-shares of Homuhugs, and Assassin is trying to undercut Madoka's majority share and crash the Homuhug economy even as we speak.

Day 31 Chapter 8
[X] Plan Not A Scavenger Hunt

"Have you found anything? It doesn't even have to be one of the witch's emblems; just tell me that you've found anything relating to the witch that could help us tonight, and I'll call it good enough."

"I found a discarded rosary necklace nearby the warehouse we blew up where Sister Hope and her father used to hold their sermons; but aside from that? Nothing."

Your heart stops in your chest. A discarded rosary necklace. Why didn't you think of it before? You've had Archer, Lancer, and Assassin scouring the city for visible depictions of the witch's sunburst emblem all day, and yet it never occurred to you to have them check for depictions you already knew about. Gods above, if you hadn't realized it when you did, then Hitomi might really have been... There must be hundreds of those necklaces scattered all over the city, worn under the clothes or stashed away inside the houses of the people who attended Father Despair's sermons. When Caster said they would be small and difficult to find, this must have been what he meant. The only way you'd be able to find them all in time would be to stop time and go door-to-door, but you doubt you have enough Grief Seeds to do that, and still have a safe amount left over for Walpurgisnacht. "There's bound to be too many of these things for us to be able to track them all down in time. We should have started scouring the city the instant Hitomi clued us in to something being off about the necklaces. I'm afraid we have no choice but to let this go, and to hope for the best in spite of our inability to find and destroy them all."

"Are we supposed to just give up then?"
your servant asks, sounding just as concerned about your call as you are in making it. "I was under the impression that we'd need to destroy these things in order to make the familiars drop their intangibility. What are we supposed to do now?"

"I know you have your ways. Get as much information out of it as you can, and then destroy it. Even if we'll be unable to track them all down, even one less will be helpful, and if we're lucky you'll get something useful out of whatever you find."

"Understood."

Even if we'll be unable to track them all down, even one less will be helpful, and if we're lucky you'll get something useful out of whatever you find."

That's all your master has to say about the matter. Giving her one last "Understood" you terminate the link between the two of you. "So, I'm to get as much as I can out of this thing, then destroy it." That should be simple enough to do. You clench the painted wooden sunburst in your fist, whispering to yourself "Analyzing structural components"

The construction is as basic as it feels, simple carved wood and acrylic paint. From its initial construction, a little under two weeks ago; to being dropped by Sister Hope when you raided the warehouse to retrieve her; and to it being left here, abandoned, "Sister Hope was the only person to ever touch this particular piece, it seems..." There's nothing else for you to analyze about this necklace, so with a strong wrist you fling it high into the orange-tinged sky, before drawing your arrow and sniping it with a single well-placed arrow.

"Mission accomplished, master."

"Good. Find Lancer and Assassin, and return home for now."

The sun is low on the horizon, the deep orange of the setting sun giving way to the encroaching shadows of the night as you and Tomoe-san make the trek out to the wooded clearing where, just days earlier, you and your team prepared for combat against the witch's intangible familiars. With hundreds of of the witch's sunburst emblems scattered throughout the city, worn on the necks or kept in the houses of hundreds of former 'Church'-goers, any chance of negating their intangibility advantage is all but lost to you now. You'll have to hope that your training, and whatever breakthrough you've made with your Isa rune, will be enough to overcome the obstacle facing your team tonight.

The other members of your team will be expecting the two of soon, but you want some time to see for yourself what the day's breakthrough has earned you. "Grief dampening, please," you say to Tomoe-san. "I don't know what I'm about to do, nor how much it might cost me to do it, so I'd prefer to play it safe." Tomoe-san nods, staying silent as she applies Wunjo's Grief-dampening effects to your Soul Gem.

You know that your efforts have accomplished something, but your conscious mind has no idea what that could be. Breathing in deeply, you let your arms fall loose at your sides, and allow your unconscious self to take over.

Instantly, you've drawn your bow, and pull back on the string as the water molecules in the air freeze, forming into the perfect shape of an arrow. You raise your aim skyward, and loose your arrow high. As the arrow flies, it collects frozen water molecules, transfiguring them into arrows alongside it, as the ever-expanding flight of arrows soars ever higher. Then! The volley descends, crashing back down to earth; and as each arrow collides with the ground, it instantly freezes anything it touches, splashing ice in every direction, until the entire volley has collided with the earth and turned the wooded clearing into a frozen wasteland. You take a single step forward, and the tremor of your foot against the ground causes the frozen earth to shake. The ground splinters into fine powder of white and brown, while the trees completely disintegrate into piles of shaved ice.

"Impressive," Tomoe-san says, as you turn your head back and forth as you survey the damage to the clearing. You've effectively tripled the overall size of the clearing, if not more; and inadvertently turned the train tracks passing through it into a white mist. Oops. It's a good thing that no trains will be coming this way until the repairs to the bridge are complete, or else your little test might have been responsible for a serious accident. "A self-replicating frozen projectile, capable of reducing anything it touches to shards of ice."

Tomoe-san is right; it's an impressive attack indeed; with an impressive cost, to boot. "Tomoe-san, by how much does your use of Wunjo dampen our Grief when applied?"

"At the moment, it should be by a little over forty per cent, I believe. Why?"

Even with Tomoe-san's Grief dampening, that attack still took far more out of your Soul Gem than you had expected; and an impressive attack like that requires an equally impressive name. Knowing her, she would probably recommend something in a foreign language. Just the way she did for Madoka, back then. She was always so impressionable, copying Tomoe-san's penchant for giving her attacks foreign names. You close your eyes, and you can almost hear Madoka's voice, calling out in that first timeline "Finitora Freccia!"

Yes, that will do for a name.

After you've applied a Grief Seed, draining your Soul Gem of the heavy corruption it endured to enable your finishing arrow, you turn to Tomoe-san, and ask her "Do you think you could ask Caster about the mystery servant he thinks was responsible for taking out Assassin?" It would be good to know their and their master's identities, and if possible you might even have an additional ally against the witch tonight. The gods know you'll need all the help you can get.

"I asked him," Tomoe-san says when she returns to herself after speaking with her servant. "But, Caster just laughed at me, and told me not to be so hasty."

"I hope that means we won't have to be waiting very long, then, to learn the identity of our mystery servant." It isn't Saber; that much you know, and outside of Saber all of the classes Archer told you about have been filled. Short of an entire second faction of servants appearing, as Rider described during his War, that just leaves the 'abnormal' class McRemitz-san asked about, the class called "Avenger'.

Whatever, and whoever, they are.

5 minutes. That should be how long our team can last without anyone dying. So we need to kill the Witch in five minutes or else our team will start to be overwhelmed by the familiars. Unless...

Do we know in character about Archer's Reality Marble? If he could pull the Witch and her familiars in there then that might be enough to sever their connection to their emblems.

We know that Archer has a Noble Phantasm called "Unlimited Blade Works". We have no idea what it is or what it does, and we certainly don't know that it's a Reality Marble or else we'd have shat bricks because of how similar our servant's own Noble Phantasm is to a witch's labyrinth and we'd get paranoid for very obvious reasons. But no, we don't actually know that UBW is a reality marble.

I'm also curious to know where your five minutes estimate comes from.
