I counted 7 full training sessions for Reinforcement, assuming I didn't miss anything (which I probably did since SV's search function hates me). Could you tell us where exactly on the scale that this put Homura? We know that Homura's already started on body reinforcement with that seventh training session, anyways.
That would put us at... "See where we were after seven sessions for Projection" because I really don't remember where that should put us because it's been... Over a year, I think, since we last did a Projection session.

Aaaalright, you better appreciate the fact that I went back through both threads to find every mention of 'Projection', as that was a real pain. 😫

From what I counted, Homura practiced Projection 13 times to Reinforcement's 7, and like 3-4 of those Projection practice sessions were from like Day 4-ish, somehow. And you told me I was cheesing things by having Homura practice something twice in the same day! /s 😅

Please set up a proper system or counter for her Magecraft progress (not to mention all the progress Hitomi and Sayaka would be making in the various Magecraft fields), now that we have concrete numbers of how many sessions Homura's completed. Can you extrapolate both fields' progress for Homura now, perhaps? x.x

Speaking of, can you put down a concrete number for Archer's Tiwaz progress sometime in the future? We put into effect a vote for him to practice it every night while Homura was asleep a long time ago, though that was before we started having him do stuff at night, it was just kinda brushed off and ignored for the longest time. It's reasonable to assume he's slacked off and eventually forgot to resume doing it at some point during the story, but it would be nice to know what mechanical benefits Archer would get from whatever progress he's managed to do so far.

Then Homura should be half as proficient at Reinforcement as she is in Projection. If there were multiple practice sessions on day 4, that's probably because it comes from before I realised how being lenient could screw progression pacing up for me, and thus was done long before that was put into practice.

Any setting up of any proper counting system is going to take some time, on account of my real life responsibilities that are also probably more than partly to blame for the complete losing of track of how many times we've practiced something. I'll say I do it when I have the time, but then I either never have the time, or I have the time but it comes in so much later from when I said it that I forget I've said it. Then there's also the time dilation between quest-time and real time, and how long it takes just to get through one day can really throw my counts for a loop even when I'm paying attention.

How practice sessions work

Hm, that's very fair.

As a suggestion, considering Homura's current session count, maybe a 5-10-15-20 count system could work for the basic Magecraft trees (so basic manipulation stuff like Projection, Alteration, Reinforcement, Structural Analysis, Formalcraft, etc., but not family Magecrafts and such)?

5 could be basic usage and competency, 10 could be intermediate usage which is viable for heat-of-the-moment combat, 15 being on the level of a specialist that can do some crazier stuff with it, and 20 being mastery within the bounds of an ordinary Magus (so not accounting for special circumstances like Shirou's Element and Origin and Reality Marble)? The fact that Homura can actually use it in combat is due to her special trait of being a Puella Magi, as previously established.

Same with Reinforcement; we've seen her be able to Reinforce stuff in time-stop, and rarely her arrows, but never rapid fire or in the heat of things. So 7 would fit rather accurately in that scale, I think. At 15 she could probably Reinforce her body without too much risk of complete bodily destruction, which fits quite nicely with your previous discussion about her progress towards that.

EDIT: Actually, this system I'm proposing seems like it'd be too powerful for run-of-the-mill Magi, so I'd like to clarify some things that could alleviate that:
Normally under this system there should be a chance of a failure to progress per training session which gets higher and higher as they progress (as it becomes more difficult to progress and make discoveries without external aid), and that some options may be completely locked at a particular level (0, 5, 10, or 15) depending on the Magus and their Element and Origin. Puella Magi are able to bypass this when it comes to base magical manipulation (so the basic Magecraft magical manipulation trees as previously mentioned) due to their nature and their already unconcious usage of them, allowing them to ignore the chance of failure and allowing them to achieve a full count of 20. The chance of failure and count limitations may come into effect for Puella Magi as they try and learn Magecraft disciplines outside of base magical energy manipulation.

A more realistic general limitation for the average Magus in the beginner trees would be Projection (5), Alteration (20), Reinforcement (20). Only Projection is limited to them due to the fact that their Projections are very much hollow and are very costly to maintain, preventing them from ever truly utilizing them in split-second combat outside of pre-prepared fake-outs or something like that. Right now Homura's limitations would be Projection (20), Alteration (0), and Reinforcement (20) due to her Dual Origin of Limitation and Perseverance (Alteration) and her nature as a Puella Magi (Projection).

Some intermediate but still basic and well-known trees like Hypnosis may be locked to a number lower than 20 (in this case, 5) without some kind of special Magecraft, special Wish magic, or by completely bypassing it with things like Mystic Eyes (in this case the Mystic Eyes of Enchantment).

As for the chances of failure when it comes to ordinary Magi (such as Hitomi and kinda Sayaka), I think that base difficulty would be 10% per point (so from 0 -> 1 is 10%, 1 -> 2 is 20%, etc.). Now you might be asking, how would they progress past the 9th point!? The answer is rather simple, the DC is lowered by 10% each time they fail to progress (resetting once they progress), and the DC can be lowered regardless by external aid (such as Rin giving them an arbitrary 30-50% less of a DC due to her status as a pretty much genius Magus, or if their Element or Origin are particularly conducive to whatever it is they're trying to progress). This is how I can retain the fact that learning Magecraft normally takes a very long time for most Magi, assuming they don't have any advantages. Likewise, if they have no base material to work off of and are inventing a new discipline wholesale, the base DC could be raised depending on what they're trying to do, and the amount of DC that's lowered when they fail could be reduced to something like 5% instead of 10% to reflect that it's treading new and difficult ground.

Here's some specific examples of the system when it comes to some of our current cast (assuming you roll a D100 per training roll, with possible modifiers like with teachers like Rin and Bazett or negative modifiers like when under duress or something like that):
Origin: Limitation and Perseverance (restricts Change-based Magecraft, lowers base DC increase of Restriction, Limiting, and Perseverance-based Magecraft from 10% to 5% per point, can make Magecraft persist for very long durations, Magecraft will be much more difficult to unravel or dispel)
Element: Love (lowers base DC increase of Love-based Magecraft from 10% to 5% per point)
Magic Circuits: Quality (Unknown, but very high), Quantity (Unknown, but very high)
Other: Puella Magi (lowers DC of base magical energy manipulation disciplines of Magecraft to 0, and prevents the DC from increasing), Wish Magic (lowers base DC increase of Time-based Magecraft from 10% to 5% per point) ##explicitly not True Magic, just her Wish's influence having to do with time as does Kyoko's to illusions and all that; the Emiya family's Time Alter is an example of very advanced Time Magecraft applied to the self.

Magecraft
Reinforcement enhances the existence and purpose of the target by pouring Magical Energy into it, filling in the metaphorical gaps between its existence, in order to improve aspects of the target temporarily. Such examples would be the durability and sharpness of a knife, the taste of food, and the enhancement of a person's muscles and bones to boost their strength, agility, and durability.

Progress: 7/10 (next DC 0% with 0 failures)
Milestones
5/5
-Can adequately Reinforce objects external to the user up to 250% its original capacity (e.g. a knife is over twice as sharp and durable)
-Cannot Reinforce objects enough to use it at a moment's notice in battle.
-Cannot Reinforce living creatures without maiming or killing them.
10/10 (higher milestones like this won't be shown until achieved)
-Can Reinforce objects external to the user up to 500% its original capacity (e.g. a knife is five times as sharp and durable)
-Can Reinforce objects on the fly in the heat of battle in a moments notice.
-Can Reinforce individual body parts (but not any organs like the eyes) of the user without maiming or killing them, but not in the heat of battle.
-Can Reinforce individual body parts of living creatures other than the user with the aid of Structural Analysis, otherwise there's a good chance the user will maim or kill them. ##this is assuming the target isn't a Magus with an innate Resistance to foreign magical phenomenon, and that they're willing or not sapient
15/15
-Can Reinforce objects external to the user and the body of the user up to 750% their original capacity (e.g. a knife is over seven times as sharp and durable)
-Can Reinforce self in the heat of battle at a moment's notice.
-Can Reinforce delicate organs of the user like the eyes with the help of Structural Analysis, otherwise there's a good chance the user will be maimed.
-Can Reinforce living creatures other than the user with the aid of Structural Analysis, otherwise there's a good chance the user will maim or kill them. ##this is assuming the target isn't a Magus with an innate Resistance to foreign magical phenomenon, and that they're willing or not sapient
20/20
-Can Reinforce objects external to the user and the body of the user up to 1000% their original capacity (e.g. a knife is ten times as sharp and durable)
-Can Reinforce delicate organs of the user like the eyes without any negative consequences.
-**some capstone super special power like Finitora Freccia**
Alteration is the intermediary step between Reinforcement and Projection, to give an object a property or effect that it originally didn't have. This could also be used to shape and repair objects by giving them the property of being a different shape or being whole.

Progress: 0/0 (LOCKED due to Origin)
Projection is a Magecraft that materializes objects, in accordance to the caster's imagination, through the use of magical energy.

Progress: 13/15 (next DC 0% with 0 failures)
The process by which one creates a permanent magical artifact using Runes that runs off of magical energy, which could theoretically be used by anyone barring any restrictions placed upon it by the creator.

Progress: 5/10 (next DC ?% with 0 failures)
Milestones
5/5
-Can confidently create Runic Mystic Codes with a singular type of Rune.
-Can create Runic Mystic Codes with multiple types of Runes, however there's a chance of failure the more Runes the user uses past one.
10/10
-Can confidently create Runic Mystic Codes with up to three different types of Runes.
-Can create Runic Mystic Codes with more than three different types of Runes, however there's a chance of failure the more Runes the user uses past three.
Origin: Structure (restricts Abstract-based Magecraft, has a 50% chance to lower base DC increase from 10% to 5% each point in all other Magecraft, Magecraft is much more sturdier and durable)
Element: Wind (lowers base DC increase from 10% to 5% in all Magecraft dealing with air, kinetic forces, static energy, free energy, and directed movement)
Magic Circuits: Quality (A-rank), Quantity (4)

Magecraft
Projection is a Magecraft that materializes objects, in accordance to the caster's imagination, through the use of magical energy.

Progress: 4/5 (next DC 35% with 0 failures) ##assuming she got her 10% -> 5% bonus from her Origin on points 1, 3, and 5 (and yes I chose a random progress number, as I don't know what's in your notes for Hitomi; also not putting in Formalcraft or anything as we're not sure she's done anything in it yet, or Reinforcement just because this is an example)
Due note that in-between milestones for Magecraft disciplines there is still improvement from the previously met milestone, it just isn't noted or as drastic as hitting the next milestone (e.g. a 7/10 Reinforcement would improve things something like 350% and would be better as using it during combat, but wouldn't give any of the other 10/10 important features).

Also in cases where two modifiers would lower the base DC increase from 10% to 5%, the result would lower the base DC increase to 0%. Yeah, it's overpowered, just ask Shirou with his identical Origin and Element, or Kirika if she ever decides to get into some Love Magecraft.

Lastly, in fields outside of the standard fare that anyone can use (e.g. Material Transmutation, Structural Analysis, Hypnosis, Bounded Fields, etc.), it's possible and quite probable that they would extend past the arbitrary limit of '20' (such as to 30, or 50, or even 100 depending on the complexity and open-endedness of the subject). So one can't exactly speed-blitz their way through the Makiri Family Magecraft, the Tohsaka Family Gem Magecraft, or the Einzbern Family Alchemy Magecraft and whatnot to some arbitrary limit.

Not Archer Prime, Shirou Prime. As in, Emiya Shirou, eroge protagonist, hero of justice, the bone of the sword that's penetrating the defenseless anus of Archer Prime's master and the sword in Seibah's stone, if you know what I mean. If Emiya Shirou, Archer Prime, and Archer Mitakihara all have the same DNA, on account of all being the same person, if Archer Mitakihara has a kid with Minako, will that also make Emiya Shirou a father on account of it being his DNA in the kid?

No more than my mother's identical twin sister is my mother. Which she isn't.

It would make all the various Shirou's into uncles though.

Actually, while identical twins share very similar genes, their genetics aren't identical. Meanwhile Shirou, Archer Prime, and Archer share the exact same genetics. :p
This is actually kind of weird, in both a genetic and a legal sense, because there's never been two (or three) people who have exactly 100% identical genetics. I wonder how Archer Prime and Shirou would react to knowing that their genetics are responsible for bringing a new life into existence?

Day 37 Chapter 13
[X] Plan Where Bazett Becomes A Sensei

"Alright," you say, after your conversation with McRemitz-san has solidified in your mind the approach you'll be taking to crafting your first Runic Mystic Code. "A ring it is, then." At this point, you don't think there's anything else McRemitz-san can help you wish, unless she's able to pull a ring out of her pocket for you to test yourself on. So with nothing left to ask her, you decide to head out.

Or do you?

You stop yourself moments before your body gets into gear and, while you're still seated on the couch, ask McRemitz-san "So, how have things been for you this past week? Are things going well for you and Lancer?" As if you couldn't hear the answer to that question for yourself, every night.

"It's been like a childhood dream come true," McRemitz-san replies. "Having Cú around has been everything I ever dreamed it would be, and more." You hope you don't have to hear about the "and more" part. "I just wish I didn't have to wait so long for this, though."

"Was there no way to make Nurse Ortensia give Lancer to you at any time in the past seven years?"

McRemitz-san shakes her head, and says "Nope. At best, she wanted something from me that was completely impossible for me to give her; and at worst, she'd actively taunt me about how she enjoyed holding mastership of him over my head like some kind of toy." McRemitz-san sighs, and smiles as she says "But that's all in the past now. After seven years, I've finally gotten my servant back, and after waiting a lifetime to meet my childhood hero, there's nothing that could make me unhappy."

You nod; you can sympathise with McRemitz-san's struggle, the endless waiting to finally meet that person. "I'm glad to hear that everything's worked out for you."

"So, this is only kind of related, but what's the deal with Mikuni and Ortensia? Do you happen to know why they look damn near identical?"

"They're cousins, if I'm to believe what I've heard from the two of them. Though putting the physical similarities aside, I wouldn't have ever guessed it myself." Mikuni Oriko is, now that you've cracked her open and gotten to experience the soft, sweet girl hiding inside, without a doubt one of the nicest girls you've ever met; while Nurse Ortensia is prickly and abrasive even on a good day. It's so hard to believe that two people so different from one another could be related, even if it's only as distantly as their grandmothers being sisters.

"Huh. I've met Ortensia's father before-" McRemitz-san's prosthetic hand clenches. "-actually, he's the one who betrayed me and stole Lancer from me in the first place; and any family that came from him would have been just as twisted. Must have come from their mothers' side, then."

Again, you nod, and decide to change the subject. As opportune a time as this is to learn more about Nurse Ortensia from someone who appears to know her quite well, you decide against it. Mikuni Oriko wants to get to know her cousin, and pre-empting her the way you are seems like it would be a violation of her trust in you. Instead, you ask "So, do you and Lancer have any hobbies you like to do when you're not working? I know Lancer likes to fish, but what about you?"

"Well, I work out a lot, especially now that I'm getting older and my metabolism's not what it used to be, and of course I like a good pint now and then - I am Irish, after all - but I don't really have anything you might consider a 'hobby'. My job has me traveling too much for me to really ever have the luxury of picking up a hobby."

McRemitz-san is Irish? And all this time you thought she was English. She's probably kill you if you said anything, though. Instead, you decide to play things much safer, and say "You don't look old."

"Older, I said. Thirty's not that old-" McRemitz-san is thirty? "-but it's old enough to where my metabolism's slowed just just enough. I have to eat less and work out more in order to maintain the same weight and muscle mass that would have taken half as strict a regimen just seven years ago." A blush passes over McRemitz-san's face, and she adds "Of course, having Cú around makes it that much easier for me to burn off those extra calories."

Is that because Lancer makes a good partner for McRemitz-san to work out with? Or is this also something you'll have to ask Archer about? Or Kirika, assuming you can put up with another talk from her.
"What about you?" McRemitz-san asks. "Since you're being so talkative tonight, I figure I might as well take the chance to get to know my landlord. So what sort of hobbies do you have?"

"Well, outside of my responsibilities I enjoy reading poetry, spending time with my girlfriend, and firearms."

"Firearms; in this country?? Isn't that, you know, illegal?"

"Very. But I'm... Not exactly the most socially adept person around; and where people are always so unpredictable-" And in the case of a certain Blueberry, annoyingly so at all but the best of times. "-firearms are much easier to understand. They do one thing, in one way, and if they break it's much easier to fix them than it is to fix a person or a relationship."

McRemitz-san is silent at those words; and though she says nothing, in her eyes you can see that she sympathises with your troubles. "Hey, why the long face?" And then Lancer showed up. He's put a shirt on for you this time, sleeveless and white, just like his master's, whom he sits down beside, wrapping his arm around McRemitz-san's shoulder. "Come on you two, lighten up. This is a no-frown zone."

McRemitz-san needs no more convincing than the touch of her servant to bring a smile to her face, but you require a little more effort. "If you don't mind me asking," you say to the blue-haired spearman, "What sort of relationship do you have with Archer? The two of you acted as though you knew one another when we were all fighting the witch, and he's spoken about you on at least one occasion." That you recall. He might have mentioned Lancer more than once, but you don't remember if that's the case. "I know the two of you were in the same War, but is there anything more to your relationship?"

"I think it would be best to say that our relationship is complicated, and leave it at that. The kid's nice enough - and damn if he can't make the best salmon from here to Ulster - but the grownup one's a bit... Harder to pin down my feelings on. We can get along, but between me and the one of him that's still in Fuyuki, we've got too many memories of being enemies to ever really let go of the past completely, I think." Lancer grins, and says "Doesn't mean we can't at least try, I say. Haven't tried to kill each other for, oh, four years now, I think was the last time we had a major spat?"

Yes, this Lancer would only have known the other version of your father, wouldn't he? Any changes to their relationship would be unknown to your Archer. "And what about the Fuyuki Archer? I know he's not the same as my Archer, but... I guess I'm curious, about the man that almost isn't my father."

"Well, he's better than he was back in the War, that's for sure. He's settled into his own little routine keeping house for Tohsaka, and I think he's about as happy as he's capable of being, given the circumstances."

"I just have one more question to ask about him, then," you say. You aren't sure for how long this has been on your mind, nor are you entirely sure why you're asking it, but "So, Archer and I are thinking, once everything here is taken care of, that we'd like to legally become a family; and I have to know- If my Archer were to adopt me, would that make the other Archer my father as well?"

Lancer lets out a raucous laugh, and McRemitz-san can't help but look like Hitomi as she fails to stifle her giggling. "Oh, man, you ask the best questions, you know that?" Lancer says, once he's managed to regain his composure. You didn't think you were being funny. "To tell you the truth... I don't know. Maybe? Who knows. I don't think there's even a legal precedent for the kind of thing you're asking about."

Maybe you could ask Archer about this when you see him tomorrow... You hope he's enjoying his stay with the Kures, and hasn't fallen into Kure Minako's obvious trap. "I see," you say, standing and bowing for your host and her servant. "McRemitz-san, Lancer, thank you for having me, and thank you for all the help you've given me. If there's anything you need from me, whether it's magical or just something I can do as your landlord, please, don't hesitate to let me know."

You receive no immediate response, but as you turn to leave you hear McRemitz-san say with a sheepish tone "Actually... We could use a new bed. The springs on the old one are really loud, after all."

Though you don't let your tenants see you, you can't help but smirk at McRemitz-san's request. "Of course," you say. "I'll see what can be done about your bed as soon as I have the chance."

-[X] Go out with Assassin (make sure she's dressed and Shapeshifted appropriately) to deposit some of the money Archer "liberated" for you at a local ATM and then buy a chisel or something to etch things into metal from a hardware store, and then buy a cheap pack of plain generic metal rings
--[X] When you get back home, change into your Assassin-attire and let Assassin do her thing while you carefully scratch out the necessary Isa Rune for your Mystic Code on one of the rings (switching to spares if/whenever you mess up); take your time with it to make sure it's perfect and presentable in public, you certainly have the patience and discipline for it what with your many years of bomb making after all
-[X] While you're out, talk to Assassin
--[X] about what she thinks of Mitakihara as a city, and what the cities and towns were like in her era
--[X] about whether or not she thinks she would be amiable to live another life in the modern era like Archer
--[X] asking her to point out food places that she might be interested in trying out sometime in the future; her not being able to tell you any foods she likes opened your eyes to the fact that she probably isn't used to enjoying everyday amenities what with her life as a Hassan-i-Sabah, so you want her to have that chance now
--[X] informing her that you're going to try and take her out into the city more in the future now that things in the immediate time-frame have settled and you've mostly sorted out the whole 'poisonous touch' situation; at least with her skills and instincts as a Servant she should be able to prevent any deaths by groping or accidently touching her

Don't want Assassin to get too lonely waiting after all. Also there are plenty of stores that are still open in the evening, especially so in a very populated city like Mitakihara, so Homura and Assassin should have no trouble finding a hardware store and some store that sells plain generic metal rings.

We'll have Archer get a replacement bed for Bazett sometime tomorrow while Homura's at school.

You know, that's a very good point. Homura should be dreaming of Assassin's past memories now, shouldn't she? Looks like we'll probably have both Archer and Homura dreaming of someone's past memories tonight then.
True, but for reasons of post pacing I can only write for one of us experiencing the dream cycle per morning, and Archer was already voted to get that first. I can schedule us for an Assassin dream tomorrow night, if we want.

Day 37 Chapter 14
[X] Plan Puella Magi Serenity Magica

Following your return from your brief excursion into McRemitz-san's domain, your next stop was the kitchen, to make sure Amy had food and water. Hearing the sound of her bowl being filled, that troublesome little girl slips out of your room, and you scratch her behind the ears as she enjoys her dinner.

"I'm going out," you say to Assassin, once your business has concluded and you've made your return to the living room. "I would like for you to accompany me."

Assassin looks up from your laptop, and asks "Are you sure? What if someone-"

You don't mean to cut Assassin off, but some things have to be said with feeling; this is one of those. "I said before that I wanted to give you the chance to live a more normal life, and I intend to see that through." You approach Assassin, offering her a smile as you sit down beside her. "You went out with Archer and nothing happened; I'm confident you can manage to do that again with me."

"Very well," Assassin says, closing your laptop. "If my master wishes for me to join her, then that is what I shall do." Assassin stands, and as you rise with her her skin changes to the smooth, milk tea colour you saw the other day. She allows you to take the lead to the front door, where as she goes to put her shoes on you get your first glimpse of her new footwear. Huh, you think, watching as Assassin laces up the plain leather boots. You thought she would have picked something cuter. A pair of gloves completes her attire, and the two of you are off into the Mitakihara night.

"If you see somewhere you'd like to try eating at while we're walking, don't hesitate to point it out to me," you say as you and Assassin walk down the main street from your apartment. "Not being able to tell me what sort of foods you liked opened my eyes to the fact that you probably aren't used to everyday amenities."

Assassin nods, saying "That is true. All the members of my order lived in the mountains, away from civilisation. Luxuries, even those that have existed since my time, are things to which I am unaccustomed; to say nothing of the overabundance of luxuries present in the modern era."

"Is that all you have to say about the modern era?" you ask. "Is the abundance of luxuries daunting to you, or do you think that, given the time, you could see yourself wanting to live another life here?"

"I am unsure. This city is so vibrant, and so full of life. Your shopping malls have things which even the most exotic bazaars of my time did not have access to, and your skyscrapers are grander than all but the most illustrious of temples. After a life spent in seclusion, leaving the mountains only to eliminate my next target, a city like this is such an overwhelming sensation that I can hardly breathe." Assassin touches a hand to her chest, and she breathes heavily as she says "Even now, my heart is beating so fast I fear it will fly from my chest if I stay here for much longer."

While you haven't grown quite as fond of Assassin as you have of Archer in the time you've spent with her, neither have you spent as much time with her as you have with Archer. Given enough time, and it wouldn't surprise you to one day see Assassin in a similar light to your foster father. "Does that mean you don't wish to stay when everything is done?"

"Not at all!" Assassin exclaims, taking your hands into her own as she stares with uncomfortable longing into your eyes. "After having met you, master, I could never go back to the lonely eternity of the Throne of Heroes! Your very presence is what makes my time on this earth worthwhile! I l-" Oh gods above, here it comes. "-ike spending time with you, and if it means to stay in this modern era than I would put up with all of it!"

Even though there was no break in her speech, you can tell that Assassin was censoring herself. "Then you will stay?"

"The modern era can uncomfortably stimulating at times, but I truly meant that I would put up with all of that if it means continuing to bask in your presence. I only wonder, what role would I play in your new family?" Huh. That's not something you ever considered. "if Archer is to become your father, then where is my place in your home? I cannot be your mother, nor do I think I would make a passable sister; and being a lover is completely out of the question; so where does that leave me?"

"I'm sure we'll think of something," you say, smiling for Assassin.

There's little else to say about your venture out into the city with Assassin. You make a quick stop at the bank, and though the bank itself is closed, you're still able to access the ATM to deposit some of your share of the money Archer acquired from the Yakuza. Then, you make your next stop at a low-end jewellery store, where you purchase a few blank rings. They cost more than you had been expecting, and all the while the man at the counter is eying Assassin with caution. She, though, is unmoved by his distrusting stare, and you leave to head to your final destination, the local hardware store where, now that you know what size of ring you'll be working with, you can pick up a small enough chisel.

However, along the way, "Master, what do I smell?" Assassin asks, as the two of you pass a nearby café just as the employees inside are closing up. "It smells sweet, not unlike the pastries you brought me earlier."

You've never been in this café before, but you say "They probably are pastries, and they're probably similar to the ones I brought you. It looks like they're getting ready to close for the night, but if you'd like, we can come back another time." You don't know what time that might be; you have a very important dinner date tomorrow, and the day after that you'll be going out with the other members of the archery club. Perhaps Sunday, if they're open and you don't have anything else you're doing.

"There, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

Assassin smiles as she undoes the laces on her boots, and replies "It was nice, to experience the outside world with you, even if the city is overwhelming at times."

"I'm glad to hear that. I'd like to take you out with me more often, now that you've got proper clothes and we've more or less sorted out your poisonous touch." And hopefully, Assassin's own skills and instincts will ensure that she's able to prevent an accident if someone tries to touch her.

"I... Would like that."

"I'm glad to hear that." Leaving your rings and your chisel on your living room table, you head to your room to change into your usual attire. On your way back, you make sure to grab a few scraps of paper and a razor blade; after you've drawn your rune and mapped out how best to achieve your desired function, you'll need to do a bit of Reinforcement on your stencil to make sure it can withstand the blistering cold you'll need to subject the metal to in order to chisel your stencil in.

"I have to warn you," you say to Assassin, as you sit down beside her once all your tools are spread out over your work space. "My work tonight will be very cold, and I will need precision from my hands if I am to succeed, so I ask that you be mindful of how, where, and when you touch me tonight." You give Assassin a smile, hoping to make her feel better in spite of your warning. "Don't worry, I won't get mad at you if I mess up. That's why I made sure to get plenty of spares, after all."

Assassin returns your smile, and the two of you get to work on your own terms.

When we passed by the cafe, I would have had Assassin specifically recall the scent of coffee, except coffee only dates from the 15th century at the earliest, putting its origin at around three hundred years after she had already died. So, no coffee for Assassin tonight.

Usual end-of-day routine, what we want to see out of our morning, etc, is all welcome.

What are the odds that someone from Homura's school saw her and Serenity either walking around or at the cafe? Maybe they took a picture and now the rumor of Homura seeing someone on the side will circulate/spread along the rumor mill.
Slayer 10321 threw 1 20-faced dice. Reason: Chance of Misunderstandings Ga Total: 2

Why don't you roll the die and tell me what the odds are yourself?
How about you (Slayer) roll a D20 then, to be more specific? The higher it is, the more likely Homura and Serenity were seen by someone that goes to Mitakihara (maybe it could even be Homura's teacher, Saotome Kazuko, if it's high enough?).

EDIT: The post-day stuff now.

[7 -> 7.5] Serenity: Due to this chapter, obviously. Some of that sweet sweet character development if he outburst is anything to go by, and Homura's getting closer to Serenity which is nice. I'm thinking that she could probably pass as a cousin to Homura on Archer's side, what with their similar skin tones.
[6 -> 6.5] Bazett: Homura's getting to know her better, and Bazett really has been helpful to them and empathetic to their situation what with her not standing down to Rin in her stance that she wasn't wrong to hide their situation away from the Association.
[6] Cú Chulainn: OG!Lancer is as accidentally charming as ever despite not having that Charisma skill, kinda like how he did to endear himself to Rin in the UBW route. He's kind of a big brother figure to most young people he's positively associated with, almost.
[5.5 -> 6] Miyuki: Firmly more in a positive light, though that of associates mostly.

Think that's it, though I may or may not be forgetting something

As for the morning, if Archer's back by then she'll ask him to get a replacement bed for Bazett and her Lancer (while making sure to check with Structural Analysis on what exactly is the problem with their bed; the boardsping, the mattress, or both, to decide what he needs to buy and in what measurements). If he's not Homura will try and cook something easy and quick for herself and Assassin (like eggs and toast or something), feeding Amy, and all that. Maybe she could check with Assassin on whether or not Assassin being her cousin on Archer's side would be fine (and it wouldn't lock out any affections on Assassin's side considering in the eyes of the law they wouldn't be blood related, in case Assassin is still going for that). Also the Archer dream cycle sequence, and Archer waking up the Kures with his cooking.

Similar skin tones, yes, but while Archer's facial features are Japanese, Serenity's are Middle Eastern. Unless it's a pretty distant and tenuous relation (in which case, why is sle living here and not with some closer family?), I don't think anyone would buy them being cousins.

And how would anyone know that Archer's parents or parents' parents weren't Japanese and Middle Eastern? :p

I never said what degree of cousin, anyways. It's simpler to say cousin in any case.

EDIT: Maybe the reason she's living with them is due to Serenity wanting to live in Japan out of curiosity and a liking of the culture (and yeah, around this time that's actually not an uncommon trend, particularly by those of American and European descent). Or maybe she lived in a village somewhere in Israel (canonically the Hassan-i-Sabah lived in and operated out of the Middle East, and I'm choosing Israel as that's where their Holy City, Jerusalem, is located) until her close family passed away, and Archer was the only relative she and her family knew of outside of their village? At the very least in the Camelot singularity the Hassan-i-Sabahs are all operating out of their own small individual villages, so it fits, and it'll also explain her culture shock. Maybe Archer flew her out of there to Japan once he was made aware of the situation over the phone with his own funds; it's certainly not out of character for him.
