@Etranger

Yeah, what she said there. Long discussion periods are great, but the voting period itself should be at least 24 hours long so people in any time zone and who are on any sleep cycle (e.g. night shifts) can participate.

Honestly, at this point a bunch of people have suggested plans with a lot of similarities and a few key differences. I don't think there's any reason not to go ahead and open the vote here and now and just let it tick over for 24 hours or until, say, 12 hours and a very clear frontrunner emerges.

I'll keep this in mind for future votes, but while I'm fine extending moratoriums or voting periods, I would prefer to avoid shortening them whenever possible.

So on the Resocialization element I think its an US (not united states, us) thing that has more trouble/problem with it then Horner himself, though maybe his long career has started making him question that too. But yeah I am hesitant on us using it, though out of the scheme of things that sort of action isn't as bad as it could be, so its potentially worthwhile to consider at some point.

As for the upcoming plan, honestly most of the ones posted are pretty good and quite similar. I'm definitely making using of approval voting cause most of them don't have any elements that scream "no no no".

I do think I will put any plan that has a Hercules as being research and developed as a priority as I really want that ship. Oh, and I hope it helps us develop my new baby, the Dominion Treasury Space Corps.

---

As for early voting I could totally see opening the Voting period without an issue. I do think early closing might cause confusion but early opening is just like "oh look, an early gift."

The blurb for the action, written from Horner's perspective, is:

Rather than reopen or refurbish existing resoc centers (currently located in and around major prisons), the Emperor wants to centralize the entire process on Korhal, alongside a special-purpose maximum-security detention center. Keeping inmates there in preparation for resocialization will vastly streamline the process of turning them into Dominion Marines. If only the thought didn't make your skin crawl. (emphasis added)

So no, it's bothering Horner too.

Frankly, the ideal situation would be an end to the practice of neural resocialization entirely, though I doubt Mengsk will let us pull that off. Hopefully we can at least stretch things out as long as possible.

Sorry.

This does mean that we couldn't have gone under the resocialization element as was suggested at one point. (A fact that makes the whole we were a marine, then joined the sons, then got sent to prison, then was recruited again, then became a magistrate of the game a bit harder.)

I do have to admit that on a personal keeping power level I am less against that action then I am on potential ones that would reduce our power and authority. That said Suspicion at 10 isn't really a big deal as we rarely go under 20 anyway so its not something we need to take at this point.

So anyone have any guesses on what regrettable things we could have to do to successfully kill the paranoid weasel that is Mengsk?

While i love the idea of doing away with Mengsk, i think we're far away from making it happen.
Right now we should be focusing on growing our power base quietly while doing our official job of rebuilding and growing the Dominion.

Yes it a long time away, but I mean if anyone has any ideas for how low we could have to go when the time comes to start assembling it.

This happens twice in-series and the person in question survives both times, so it's much more likely that he'll just end up as the centerpiece of a rescue mission for some nameless commander.
Ok then, how about we go with the classic and conveniently find him having fallen down some stairs and broken his neck?

[X] Plan Readying the SCVs for Reconstruction

This is similar to @Vehrec's plan Readying the SCVs for Reconstruction, which I'll be approval voting for. The differences are:
  • Investment into the Tool & Die as well for more possible autocompletions on major infrastructure projects
  • Postponing shipyard amenities on Dylar in favour of farmsteads: they've only been fully up and running for three months. People on the ISS stay up there for six months without the need for biodomes, so it should be mostly fine. Gravity generators mean you can still go for a walk outside if you've got your spacesuit on, anyway.
  • Postponing Mar Sara Endureum in favour of Phoros Neotextiles, since we don't have the capacity to build infrastructure on Mar Sara simultaneously.
  • Postponing Port Bennet in favour of the literacy movement.
  • Postponing TRUSTTrooper recruitment in favour of maybe completing other projects.

All probabilities are quoted assuming a +15 omake bonus.

Total: 480R, 50F

I think you've got too many areas where you scattershot dice across multiple projects and either avoid having a good chance of finishing a project, or avoid having any chance. I think you'd be better off focusing in on the Phoros plant over the Canis refinery, on actually putting 3+ dice into Tyrador IX to get its transportation infrastructure working, and on actually finishing the Angustia yards rather than merely beginning but definitely not finishing the literacy project.

I'm aware that they're likely to fall short of the existing targets. Finishing Ardonin and the Tool & Die should lead to autocompletions on those projects the following turn if they don't finish on this one. I should maybe have been more explicit about that.

I'll give more ink to talking about this tomorrow, but this majorly advances our TRUST plotline/strength, still does what needs to be done in most categories for our Revival goals, gets us an extra Personal die and extra dice in all non-Personal categories... and gets us that Special Treasury Trait!

Also it's likely Paranoia-neutral (+5=0) and under-budget!
