So I just finished watching Starcraft II Wings of Liberty (again) and there are elements of it that make me go "hmm, could be cool for us to have that". Now I'm watching Heart of the Swarm cause the Zerg campaign is fun. Afterward I'm going to try and watch the first game using the StarCraft II engine. Its such a great setting, for all its flaws, and its fun to watch again.

Oh, and the various Battlecruiser designs are great.
"We're not equipped with shields? Well then, buckle up!"

Funny. Reminded me of something though. I think that Kerrigan can be redeemed. It's just that Raynor is the only one who can do it. We'd just get in the way. I will admit that this is partially because unless Kerrigan is redeemed, the Koprulu Sector is canonically doomed to fall to Amon. At least according to my viewing of Tv Tropes. That would be a rather poor way to end a quest, although we'll need to survive Kerrigan's attempt at vengeance before we can worry about that. Also I hate seeing brainwashed love interests not get redeemed, so there's probably some wishful thinking thrown in there too.

No one can reason with Kerrigan while she is infested. The entire plot of Starcraft 2:Wings of Liberty is assembling a device that can deinfest her.

Maybe, maybe we can unlock that early with the right research into alien tech (it was all due to a Xelnaga artefact).

I doubt it though. Brood war is coming to drown us in even more reconstruction jobs.

So I'm watching the StarCraft I campaign. As an interesting element there is a precurser campaign called Loomings where a 'Lieutenant' on Chau Sara helps to fight 'xenomorphs'. One could easily have said Lieutenant get a promotion to 'Magistrate' of Mar Sara. With all the random stuff going on I totally could see the Confederacy promoting a soldier in good standing to be a magistrate of the nearby planet. There is also nothing against him being a soldier and then an officer recruited from prison, after he did some criminal stuff for the Sons of Korhal at one point.

Anyway, it was just a random thought I had while rewatching the Starcraft I campaign. I honestly liked the idea that you were the Magistrate rather than Raynor, like you are in StarCraft II. That said I always assumed the Magistrate character was skilled and educated, but him being a former soldier given a promotion to a 'cushy' job in 'thanks' (and basically as a means of saying "shut up about what happened" ) also makes sense.

Raynor was never the Magistrate, he was an outlaw-turned-sheriff.

Fair enough. Don't know that much about Starcraft, so the info is appreciated.

Thankfully, Center of Power still focuses on Vardona actions for now, so for next turn, we still have that +5 to make contacting Starke less risky. We really should take that action next turn, because it paves the way for us to know about Valerian, who is going to be important, no matter how we decide to proceed with regards to how we remove Arcturus. We can't afford to keep on delaying the action.

Our resident numbers goblin will be pleased with this and frankly we need this so we can get started sorting the unholy mess of our records. Mitigating the damage the Brood War is going to take a well coordinated effort instead of Mensk's favorite of throwing piles of expendable men at the problem.

Tbf to Mengsk, throwing piles of expendable labor at the problem works, but on the other hand you need to know where to throw the labor.

If this is like any other plan quest though then the Emperor's First will come down and "convince" us to falsify or discard the data. Dictators do not like statistics that reflect badly on their rule.

We don't have to publish the data and lucky for Mengsk he doesn't actually answer to anyone. So he doesn't need to worry much about the information simply existing.

I want to get both personal dice next turn tbh, but with 169/400 progress we're guaranteed two more turns of Vardona bonuses.

My hope is that we can effectively use Horner to 'launder' the information gained by StatPlan's insights into a form palatable to Mengsk. Chuck Horner seems to be quite good at putting up a rustic, simpleminded facade that conceals his own sharper, more calculating side.

So we do whatever makes sense based on StatPlan's predictions, and then we come up with some folksy metaphor or old war story to justify why we're doing it when Mengsk asks us. None of this "aha, production targets are down, boss, because you did the thing you don't want me to remind you of."

The Fringe Worlds got a great boost this turn, maybe the MC should start build up some bases and companies in those Independent Settlements of the books

So I have two comments to make to the above.

On an immediate just reading level - oh cool, how fun. What a nice little element, kudos!

When my analytical mind starting thinking - But wait, only the security division became like an 'armed forces', the rest remained a bureaucratic civil agency. Meaning Victoria is still simpl a Special aDvisor and the leaders of other committees are still jsut ministers and such. Oh, and Jacob is still his personal secretary.

Random idea for potential Treasury Research. Expanding the nature of Terran mobile buildings. So you know how Terran buildings have jets and can fly. Well imagine if you could build them remotely in factories and then ship them to the planets needed in order to provide easier set up in hostile environments. Imagine if it wasn't just a Command Center and Barracks and the others, but also Residences and others. Kind of like the structure kits from Outpost 2 blended with the elements already existing here in StarCraft. Could be an interesting avenue to research.

Would be fun to send out Treasury forces to worlds to do our thing, like if there bandits and raiders on the Fringe Worlds, we can send them out to kill those bandits and raiders as they are mess with the tax income from that world

imagine the zerg try to invade a outpost, said outpost decides to go somewhere else or evacuate the entire settlement...not by the dropships (still used, but in lesser numbers then the zerg expect), but the entire damn place lights up and decides to fuck off.

Yeah like I honestly think this would be amazing. And its totally within the technological capabilities of current Terran society. We just need to expand the industrial capabilities for these colony structures. But yeah I really do think that this makes a lot of sense and is a worthwhile project to think about and develop and then implement.
