Attempting to Fulfill the Plan MNKh Edition

Wait, does this mean that effectively the hired adjutant might retire before the Minister does? Talk about a politically neutral move then, assuming they avoid getting fired for the next decade.

I'm starting to worry about what we've gotten Bala into here...
Eh the only Minister I really iked was our first guy because he was simultaneously 'oh fuck I have no idea what I'm doing', 'our leadershiip is on a murder rapampage' and 'holy shit I can aim the murder rampage?!'. While most ministers tend to be in denial about at minimum one of those three things.

Mine was Voznesensky. He is a corrupt bastard but a lovable corrupt bastard. He also led the MNKH during the most prosperous time of the Soviet Union's history. Next would be Mikoyan simply because he is the godfather of our current political system.

Probably not. Deputy minister of the MNKh is not really a position you're likely to leave before your boss leaves his for one reason or another, not if you're minimally politically competent, which Zemly is. And since our retirement age is 75, she has time until Bala moves up, fucks up or stays his full 15 year term at the post.

Every deputy we could've hired this turn was older than Bala, by the way, though she by the most since she is a woman.

I enjoyed Malenkov myself, at least before he was an alcoholic. He was justly cynical and recognized life in the USSR was shitty, yet he had a serious conviction he could make things better: A fascinating position for Stalin's hatchet-man to end up in. He had a unique education (electrical engineering) that provided a large dice bonus to a narrow set of projects across departments rather than a moderate bonus to one entire department. Plus, if Mikonyan is the father of our political system Mal fathered our modern economic system with its enterprises limited private sectors, and incentive funds that lets us dodge the worst flaws of central planning.

Second is Klimenko, even with his lethally delusional hawkish foreign politics. He in general seemed to be level-headed not up his political ass. I still feel that the signal-to-noise ratio in actions descriptions took a frustrating drop when he was swapped out for Balakirev.

I liked Voz, he was fun

least favorite is probably the first guy after Stalin died, had technocracy and apolitical expert brainworms if I remember correctly

In my opinion it would have been out of character for a guy who realizes life in the USSR is shit, is so sickly we rolled to see if he died, had to deal with Stalin and WW2 I think it would take a type of person Malenkov was not to stay sane. sober and stable. Those types of people are not the types to be MNSKH leadership.

If I recall correctly, most of the relevant OTL soviet politicians of the 1980s will be reaching their term limits by the mid 1980s at the latest here.

Just imagine the possibility of Gorby's politics being completely different ITTL.

He seems to have been a party climber in OTL moreso than a state climber, I think, but in this different system he may well have slid into the state as well/instead.
