In the Vale: Fatherhood
The Blizzard subsided and the path down the mountain became clear, as the men slowly lowered the frozen elevator down to the Gate of the Moon.
It was far… warmer down at the bottom of the mountain, than it was at the top.
Your father was quite happy with the fact he had another son, and a granddaughter to boot. He and Rowena were… for lack of a better word, thrilled with the news of another child in the family.
But nothing could ever describe the feeling with Rhaella holding your daughter in her arms. Rhaella held Aemma with quite a few thick blankets and held your daughter close to her body. Protecting her from the ills of the world that may come towards her.
A dragon protecting her little one. Of course, even you could not try and hide your joy at being a father, nor your fear. But you had your father and stepmother to help you through the trying times that were yet to come.
However, there was one problem… The witch which had helped you both. "I take it you need payment." You replied quietly.
Helen nodded. "300 gold pieces will suffice." She replied coolly. "And an escort to the Redfort, if you would be so kind. There is a woman that will need my assistance there in time." She then bowed her head. "It was an honor Lord Arryn."
You shake your head. "I'm going to be honest, I expected your price to be much higher."
Helen gave a smile. "Oh my dead little lord… A price paid in blood will always be met by my services."
The Elevator hit the bottom and shook a little. "Especially King's blood."
She then walked away, and you felt a chill run up your spine, and it was not the bitter cold that made you shiver.
But Rhaella's voice made you forget the cold chill. "Arstan, Aemma is awake." She said quietly.
A squeaky voice and a cry came from the blanket. And blue sapphires were shining in the light.
She was beautiful. And you would protect her with your life.
