As An Eagle Flies (A House Arryn Quest)

It's too soon to be going after the Mountain Clans, notnsure why everyone is trying to rush it.

Here's what I propose:

[X]Plan: Preperations.

[X]Gather A Stockpile of Weapons: The Eyrie does not have a peacetime stockpile of weapons, having been exhausted during the Brotherhood war. You will need to replace it.

We already have a very detailed map of the Vale, no need to survey it again so soon, better we stock up on weapons.

-[X]The Birth: You shall witness the birth of your child, you're daughter and your Brother.
-[X]Find A Septon: It seems in your absence, the Septon died… better go find another one for the Eyrie Sept before Rowena starts doing something strange. Like carving a seven-pointed star onto her forehead as some fanatics have done.
-[X]Travel to Uncle Yohn's: You will go to Runestone, and cash in a Favor… and find out what that Rune he gave you did? And why he gave it to you?
-[X]Ride with The Order: You shall ride with the order, and fight the wickedness and evil of the world.
-[X]Build a Retinue: You want to create a retinue of sorts, to assist you in your duties and in your travels around the Vale. (Note, this will Generate a Random Retinue of Locals from Around the Eyrie, you will not be able to build it yourself via events from other actions, or from keeping.)
-[X]Train in Martial (Command): You will study the masters of old, learn their secrets, their strengths and avoid their weaknesses.

With this we should be fairly prepared to have a go at the road construction against the Burned Men or the Cland as a whole next turn.

So Instead of updating for the next few days, you guys are going to be getting some... other stuff. Like what Steffon and Aerys and other people are doing.

As for us... well that's going to be delayed.

Also... the next one is a bit on the nuts side... because there are some people in this dammed world who just have to ruin good things.

Hint. Aemon discovers a secret that is better left forgotten.

Thankfully, Aemon is the only one mature enough to handle that problem.

Aemon discovers Bloodraven is alive? Edit: and learns where Dark Sister is?

Anyway I like Tytos abdicating and retiring in Pentos. Way better ending for him ITTL.

As for Tywin though, he might be a hard man, but he'll be far less petty when it comes to the Lannister name since Tytos went out on much better terms.

Also why do I get the feeling Varys is on the horizon?

Hey, who knows what may happen to Tytos... The Game of Thrones do not stay in Westeros.

Because Varys is always the one who says it's for the Realm?

Even though in the last two years, we've done far more for the realm then he ever did in canon.

I think it's because we have differing views on what's good for the realm. Arstan views it as uplifting his people as part of his honorable duty as feudal overlord and fighting threats to the realm. Varys views it as making cryptic statements regarding the dynamics of power while subverting the existing powers to put his pet project on the throne.

And see my edit re Dark Sister.

If somebody tries to off Tytos it will make Rains of castemere sound like happy wedding song. Seriously Tywin would get Berseker

Also Where do we find trainer for Commanding ?

Plan: For the Realm.

1. [X] Survey the Realm: Your father is no longer able to Survey the realm on his own, and you will need to do it yourself. You shall visit the Holdfasts and towns and keeps, and update the maps your father uses.
2. [X] Partake in Your Father's Council meetings: You are going to partake in your father's council meetings, learn about the true state of the Vale from their reports, not from second-hand sources and rumors.
3. [X]Gather A Stockpile of Weapons: The Eyrie does not have a peacetime stockpile of weapons, having been exhausted during the Brotherhood war. You will need to replace it.
4. [X] Train in Martial (Command): You will study the masters of old, learn their secrets, their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. (Note, as you are a Veteran of a war, you get a +20 for one attempt, and if it passes, You will achieve the rank of Master. if you fail, you cannot go any further in training without finding a teacher.)
5. [X] Partake in Your Father's Council meetings: You are going to partake in your father's council meetings, learn about the true state of the Vale from their reports, not from second-hand sources and rumors.
6. [X] Balance The Books: your father has always been a dutiful record keeper… however, he does have moments of forgetfulness. You can always double-check, make sure the books are all in order.
7. [X] Go to Gulltown: Marq must be bored out of his mind being back from the war. Maybe you can convince him to work with you? If his duties permit him, of course.

[X] Plan Realm peace

Ugh don't like that we gave our blood. It is king's blood. Someone somewhere is going to wake up in the middle of the night with shadow babies sorrounding them.

That is a much nicer ending of Tytos's reign. His son respects him, his family reputation is amazing, he gets to go down as a good lord in history, his son's reign has been set up to be stable and he gets to make good wine in Essos. This is as good as it is gonna get...so where is the shoe?

I don't know. It might come in the next side story... it might come in the next ten.

But it's coming.

A Different Future (A Potential Future That Awaits You)
A Different Future (A Potential Future That Awaits You)

(Rhaella POV)

You were never a stranger to your husband's moods.

There was hardly a day that goes by that you do not find Arstan meditating in the Sept, or in the Godswoods, with the little seedling of a Heart Tree growing out of the Ground, the same one that had long ago been planted by the Mountain Clans who had sworn fealty to him. A sign of peace, between the Valeman, and the Mountain Clans.

He may not deliver the King's Justice like the men of the North did, by doing it himself, but he always retreated after an execution was ordered and carried out. To try to make peace with his own mind, the guilt of ending a life still weighing heavy on his mind, even as he did his duty.

Today, he sat in the sept, alone and staring at a Seven Pointed Star that lay on the altar. He was on his knees, praying for forgiveness of the men he had killed, who had threatened his people and the peace.

In both your old ages, the thought of such things did not bother you, but even now, as you felt chills of winter yet again, you thought back to the days when war consumed his life.

When he returned home the first time, it had invigorated your life, and the passionate nights of enjoying that both of you were still alive was something you cherished, even as the flames of passion died with the birth or Arewen, and later with Aerys, Albert, Brynden, Helen, and Aurelia.

Your children were everything to both of you, and every night Arstan was away from home, doing his duty as Lord of the Eyrie while his father was in King's Landing, before ascending on Jon's… untimely death.

Nights were never another night alone, as they were when Arstan was at war. They were filled with reading, teaching and even writing letters to him, to tell them about their days, and the happenings of the Eyrie.

Little adventures for little minds and bodies to wander, ones you knew always bringing a smile to your face.

Such things were so beautiful and blissful that you never wanted them to end.

But your children grew older, and they became independent of you, and asserting themselves, even as they were shipped away for Fostering, and them to grow on their own.

Years of passion turned to years of happiness in an instant. Arstan and you both enjoying the little moments you had with each other.

He knew your moods, and you, his.

But today, you were the one he could not read them, as you wore worry on your face, and even as he turned to see you. "Rhae… what's wrong?" He asked as he turned around to face you.

You held the letter in your hand. "A raven from Kings Landing came in this morning while you were out… Marq Grafton is dead."

His face morphed first to confusion, and than disbelief. "Marq is dead?" He whispered to himself. "But we just saw him at Dragonstone… he looked like the beacon of health."

You nodded. "A fever took him, in the night." You paused and saw Arstan rub his eyes. "I'm sorry Arstan."

He sighed before slumping against the Sept. "By the gods… It seems everytime I look away, more of our friends die." He paused. "Life has stopped giving us things and only take them away."

Arstan was hardly an elderly man, two and fifty, but he was still a very strong man, like his uncle Yohn, who was pushing six and Seventy. He was the pinnacle of health and vitality, still riding off withe Order of Winged Knights every now and again to rout bandits and vagabonds who wished to subvert his authority.

"Arstan, they are bringing his body back to Gulltown. But there is another quandary that must be addressed." You started.

Arstan knew immediately what was being asked of him. "He already knows my answer, I won't be his Master of Laws. Not again."

You frowned. "Aerys isn't making you Master of Laws Arstan… he wants to make you Hand of the King."

His face said it all. "What? He would sack Tywin to have me take over as Hand?!" He exclaimed.

"Tywin resigned his Handship." You replied.

"Why, he made the entire realm rich for so many years? He built more roads than even Jaeherys, he gave three more city charters to Lannisport, White Harbor and Planky Town. Why would he step down?" Arstan asked.

There was a sigh, and finally you revealed the second letter, with the seal of Tywin Lannister. "Tywin fears for his life...He says that Aerys murdered Marq."

Arstan's face morphed from confusion to rage. "Aerys? Murder Marq? Rhaella, you know Aerys, he hasn't hurt a fly since the days of the Brotherhood. Why reason would he possibly have to murder one of our friends?"

"I don't know Arstan... But Aerys is riding towards the Eyrie, and I fear we will have to give him an answer than." You replied.

For a long while, you both stayed in the Sept, before Arstan rose. "I need time to think Rhae." He said as he walked out of the sept.

You prayed that what Tywin said was just a rumor…

But this was Tywin.

Things are different now... he was not the same man you knew as a girl.

As you dreaded the possibility, you walked and saw Arstan, playing with his army of grandchildren in the godswood.

You prayed he would make the right choice, for you, and your family.

Both of them.

AN: Enjoy.

So he converted to old gods?
No. Arstan just meditates in places that are peaceful to sooth his conscious after he kills people. Sometimes it's the Sept, other times its the Godswood.

He mostly does it so he reminds himself he is not a butcher, or a monster, and to remind himself that he is just making sure the Law is not broken.

Is it possible for him to become crypto old God worshipper? Will it boost his magical abilities?

I'd rather stick with him being a Seven worshipper, honestly. I feel like every bloody fic, Quest, or RP has the main character(s) ditch the Faith of the Seven, and the writer always boosts everyone except the Seven in ways that were never in the books or show.
