As An Eagle Flies (A House Arryn Quest)

Ehh...lets not get carried away here.
First we should spend a few years in the Vale before considering taking a spot in the Small Council since we first should focus on our own lands and improve what we can there.

Afterwards we can go to KL a d help Aerys out by joining his council.

OR Aerys makes a new position for us to be his diplomat across the world.
Unlikely, the Small Council's size is 7 for religious reasons.

Not necessarily, if our father doesn't die we can join the Small Council. If the new king asks our father to be Master of Laws or some such our Dad may ask us to rule the Vale in his stead.

seeing that the man in this timeline did not let everyone walk over him and forced his vassels to sign and pay there debs i`m going to say those "claws" where unseathe but unused.

along the line of "i`m willing to be very generous and merciful, but if you think of trying to cheat me i will come down like a ton of bricks on you"

still from what i can tell more of the lords are being played a lot more ... reasonable that some of there book/tv versions?

Remember, Tywin only truly became the cruel and stoic man we know from canon after the incident with his Father, Tarbecks and Reynes. Before that while he was still a harsh individual he was never cruel or as hyper focused on his legacy.

So the Tywin we have here is in not entirely the type of man he would have been if Tytos didn't grow a backbone.

Tytos is very much not willing to use the claws, or even unsheathe them. However, he has created the illusion of being able to unsheathe at a moment's notice with his threat.

Now if anyone called him out to his face, he would have crumpled like a stack of cards, and then things would be carrying on as they did on the road to canon.

Not more reasonable, more like they have been cowed by Tytos' threat and are kowtowing to him like he's really fucking powerful.

That is the power a one perfectly executed threat and creating the illusion of being able to go through with it.

So who does tywin actually marry?
cause it seems to be someone important from what i gather
and its probably going to change the balance of power in westeros

... He's married to a Stark. Lady Branda Stark if your wondering.

Don't worry, Ned has not been butterflied... yet at least.

This...has potential. While a bit odd of a choice it does pretty much tie in 5 of the 7 Kingdoms in a quasi-alliance to the throne via our little pacy and friendship with the other Heirs. Only thing missing is having the Reach and the Riverlands brought into it.

Probably a Vale girl to a Tully or a Tully girl to a Royce if we want the Riverlands closer to the us specifically.

why would the tully`s want to marry a lesser noble like that?
more likely someone will marry the Reach.

there a lanister - stark thing
a vail - targarian thing
i think i seen something about dorn prinsess marrying someone internal
so that leaves riverland -reach or stormland or both if there was some one from there to marry someone else from there

Oh yeah. Forgot Steffon was still enjoing his single life but he's a near perfect candidate to tie the Tyrels to this 'Heirs Alliance' we have going on, hell it's even a good match for the Bararheons.

But nah, LP Houses will still marry into 'lesser' houses. Something the Royce certainly are not, pretty much all Major Vassal Houses are considered good matches even for Royals which is why you would see even Targaryen marrying Valeryons, Daynes, Hightowers, Blackwoods, etc.

So while a marriage either internal or to another 'Great House' is preferable it's not required or looked down upon so it is possible.

I'll say that Tywin PROBABLY should have married into one of the Westerlands' larger vassals, assuming there is at least one who is at least willing to save the dagger as a last recourse. They need at least one loyal servant that you can be absolutely sure will be at their side ten seconds after things start going to hell.

This could easily be a ploy of the North itself, though. They have traditionally had a lot of problems on their western coast, Ironborn from the south and the odd Wildling raid from the north, and Lannisport has the best navy within reasonable distance. Seagard can just about defend themselves, and not much more, and the Arbor is halfway across gods' creation and too tied to southron games. Dealing directly with the Ironborn is something of a 'Ha-ha Fuck No' proposition.

Securing your seaways lets you start development of your own. Right now they barely export anything (The Neck seems almost unused and White Harbor doesn't seem particularly busy for the only real port on the subcontinent) but that is mostly just a transport issue. Look at the French fur trade in North America. That could be coming out of Bear Island or the Stoney Shore.

Though Hoster has to be making some very uncomfortable 'eeeeeeeee' noises. Everyone around him is forging scary diplomatic relationships. If the man farted wrong his realm would be carved up like a side of beef. The Tully are supposed to be the ones wrapping themselves in the ablative armor of stronger allies, not us!

To be fair the North isn't even close to being even developed in any way other then maybe ironwood trade through that is mostly because of their (in my opinion) unrealistically low population. I mean yeah the North has a harsh climate but its the size of all other kingdoms combined. It's odd for them to have such a low population count as described in canon ASoIaF.

Either way their connection with the Westerlands could possibly kickstart the development in the North which should probably be good for Westeros as a whole.

Man what a strong alliance from just marriages alone. Targ, Arryn, Lannister and Stark marriage alliance is scary of it works out. Tyrells, Greyjoy, Baratheon, Martell and Tully don't marriages yet to other big houses but that can change soon.

Which family is Nymeria apart of?

Nymeria Martel.

Also you can count Baratheon and Martel to that alliance.

Steffon is already married to the Estermont girl whom he was married to in canon.

So his father is looking more insuler then to the other seven kingdoms.

Tywin has four other siblings that can be married off to the westrerland houses, so Genna ain't marrying no Frey.

lets just say the north have some southern ambitious of their own and securing the the coastlines are going to be key to their success in both development and in security.

The North is the largest exporter of Lumber in the known world, with Ironwood being the highest valued wood they have.

Their other trades are only lacking just due to the sheer size of the lumber trade. The fur trade only needs a couple hundred more men, and a few more ships for them to get a percentage of the trade from the north.

Yeah... poor Hoster.

The north is more populated in this timeline. I hate Martins lack of Scale.

the Yronwoods.

Husband’s and Wives: The Falcon and the Dragon's Promise
Husband's and Wives: The Falcon and the Dragon Promise

(Arstan POV)

The room felt cold, even as a small summer breeze blew through the open window. You lay in your bed, trying to sleep soundly, but could not. Your mind was focused on other things, things besides the woman reading besides you.

"Can't sleep?" Rhaehlla asked as your tossing and turning made her reach for your shoulder. She knew whenever something was troubling you. The brief weeks since your wedding was enough time for her to know your mannerisms in bed.

For trying to sleep of course. There was no bedding on the night you were married, even though there were large wagers made by almost all parties involved in it. Too much had happened that spoiled both of your moods.

A declaration of war on a man who was threatening the stability of your home and family tended to stop any sort of feelings that you both may have had.

You sat up and felt your headrest on her shoulder. "No." It was an honest answer, the answer that would never change.

"Your minds on the war?" She asked. "Or is it your father?"

You nodded your head. "It's on everything." You whispered. "It feels like everything we've done has been leading up to this moment, all the good and all the bad." You swallowed something and made sure it was down your throat until you continued.

"Are you going to ask your father to stay?" Rhaehlla asked as she sat up, and you sat up as well, facing her.

"I have to go. Ser Gerold will need me." You replied.

"Is that what you truly want?" She asked again.

"I have to go… as his squire, and as a Valeman." You replied with a low, solomon growl.

"I'll ask my father to allow you to stay. You're my husband, and I don't want this story to end in tragedy." She stated.

"You think life is a story Raehlla?" you said quietly, keeping your voice low and not allowing your anger to control you. You did not expect her to understand… at least not fully of the duty you had to fulfill. "I'm not going down there for foolish glory to slay a villain and rescue a fair maid, for I already have you. I'm going because it is my duty to my father. And my king"

"Is that what my father told you… or is that what you tell yourself?" She narrowed her eyes and moved her hand, and forced you to look into the fearful, yet defiant, purple haze. "You owe my father nothing Arstan. Your just a boy with so much life in you, just as I am a lady with many years ahead of me." There was a pause as she gave you a hug. "Please, don't go."

"I gave your father an oath Rae." You said quietly. "I can't refuse."

You returned the embrace, and you felt the tears fall down her cheeks, touching your own. "Promise me Art… Promise me you'll come home to me as the man I knew when we were both children. And not some stranger."

You knew that things could always change in an instant, life was fleeting. Summerhall taught you that.

But why tell someone who trusted you such a damning truth, when the sweet lie was always better.

"I promise." You whispered in her ear and kept the embrace.

Even if the sweet lie was to yourself.

You just hoped to all the seven gods that you would return home. And still, be the man she grew up with.

The man you still wanted to be.

"Prove it." Rae whispered as she then looked at you with a hungry grin. You saw lust in her eyes.

Oh. "Uh Rae." Your face turned scarlet. "I thought we were going to wait until-"

"Do you need me to spell it out for you?" She proclaimed. "Or are you forgetting that we still need to consummate our marriage."

"For the love of the seven Rhae, now!?" you were totally confused by her sudden change in mood.

"Now." She said with a sweet smile before she kissed you on the lips.

AN: Enjoy this prologue to the next update.

I'm having far to much fun writing these.
