Freed yet weakened, still reeling from her capture, Pandora could only murmur softly. "D…Davian…?"

"You did good, Panda," the silver knight said, smiling only to her. "I'll take care of this…" His gaze drifted over to Be'lakor and his expression hardened with disdain. "...This son of a bitch

Davian is best big brother.

Also interesting that alt version lacks the mental block about her.

"What can you do on your own, when you are but a man?"

Davian rolled his shoulders and twirled his flaming blade once.

"The real question is, what can you do to stop me?

This is going to be very embarrassing for them. On the plus side he has people to protect so he'll dip at some point.

It's interesting how different the vibe would have been with Davion as the protagonist. Instead of the immortal goddess pushing people to Be Better, we'd be the immortal soldier whose tired, so very tired, of war struggling to be more than the soldier that he's so very gifted at being.

Also, First Star Lord is just as cool a title as Goddess of Sacrifice

Orbat fire and descending transports, friction burn in the atmosphere heating the whole planet up.
Maybe this is just a term I don't recognize, but should that be *Orbital fire?
You resisted the urge to palm his face.
Wait, to palm his face? Like, for Davian to put his palm on the LT's face? I... feel like that should probably be *to palm your face.
Unusually, Celestine knelt before as well, to the shock of the other men.
*before you
"Cadia is to evacuate, immedi ately. And don't any of you dare follow me. That is not a battle to survive."
Extraneous space in the middle of "immediately."
Nitpicks above notwithstanding, this was an awesome sidestory. I really want to see Wholesome Catgirl Lord Commander AU with Valeria now, but I guess being able to vote for that is what backing on Patreon is for. :thonk:

[X] Forgive him.

That was a pretty fun read. Kinda hypes me to see Davian in this quest proper.

Sinsystems, could you unpack that a bit? I'm a bit confused by the link from your first line to your second in your most recent post.

If Orizon (who I'm unfamiliar with) would help us attack Solemnace for revenge's sake, why would he even care about who or what we want to rescue from the place?

While that is a possibility we would likely still need to offer him something more as a veiled justification.

After all we have multiple siblings and the Fulgrim clone to take back.
We really don't. Orokin wants Trazyn to suffer and die. If we can help him do that, he'll help right up until it's convenient for him to backstab the fuck out of us so he can blow up the entire planet.

The level of hatred Orokin holds for Trazyn has got to be seen to be believed.

At worst we'll have to offer a sop to his pride. But that won't be much.

Orikan the diviner is one of Trazyn the Infinite's main rivals, he the foremost necron when it come to Chronomancy and in the lore is known for giving prophecies and if they are wrong will use time travel to make it so he was correct.

He has on more than one occasion broken into Trazyn's museum in order to steal something or cause him problems. I can't emphasize it enough that those two have been at each other's throats for a long time, having an on and off pissing match since before the Imperium was a thing.

If there is anyone who has the ability to help us get into that place it is Orikan. The issue is that I don't think he'd do it just for revenge, we'd need to offer him something that would at least give him an excuse to justify his actions above mere revenge.

Which we might be able to give since Orikan's whole thing is finding a way to turn the necron into beings of pure energy, can even manage to do it for a short time on himself if the stars align just right. We don't have to give him anything actually useful but some tips on how to keep sane after reach a god-like state might be enough.

I've read the Infinite and the Divine, I am aware of how petty those two can be. Like seriously sending a bunch of pregnant Catachan devils in the mail just to fuck with each other.

Split the difference and go for Arjen's own cover of the latter. I do agree though.
Having finally gotten around to testing the idea, I think Eric Bloom's (?) singing is better suited to the role of Davian's theme song than Arjen Lucassen's. Not that the latter's cover is bad, but it doesn't quite carry the vibe as well.

Still, in hindsight, I can't understand how I ever thought a song about anything other than the war-weariness of Moorcock's Eternal Champion fighting a ceaseless war across time between the forces of Law and Chaos could be right for Davian.

[X] Forgive him.
[X] Plan Some Pressing Questions + One Very Pressing Question + Some More Stuff I Just Added.
-[X] Ask him about the prophecy he sent us.
-[X] What is the general situation in Commorragh? I'm guessing you have a better idea than we do.
--[X] Can you help us rescue either Michael, Jaghatai Khan, or both, directly or indirectly, in the reasonably near future?
--[X] If either of them is in unusual immediate danger, probably Jaghatai, can you at least try to keep them relatively safer as best you can? It would mean a lot.
-[X] I'm trying to put together a ceasefire with the Asuryani.
--[X] Which craftworlds do you think are least unlikely to listen?
--[X] Do you have any suggestions about how to approach the problem, or how to avoid it all blowing up? Problems to watch out for?
--[X] Have you been doing ok on your own?
-[X] Is there anything left of any of the other Eldar gods, besides the shards of Khaine you know about? If so, is there any chance of any of them coming back in some helpful, non humanity-murdering form?
-[X] Do you know of any other nascent racial/lesser gods who might become something helpful for fighting the Four?
-[X] Do you have any advice/info regarding the Necrons from your experience with them during the War in Heaven and after that you think might be helpful to me?
-[X] What happened to Astarielle?
