Have people already forgotten that this entire crusade was a scheme by the High Lords to effectively remove us from power for a few years, so they could act unopposed? Every year we spend here is another year they have to prepare a way to corner us again, like they did here.

I think they'll get the message that this is perhaps not the best way to stop Pandora from accruing influence, after this.

"We send her away for five goddamn minutes and she comes back with another daughter of the Emperor?"

[X] Plan Reject Atrocities, Embrace Alliances
-[X][IMP] Full Access to Tau Technology +4/-2
-[X][IMP] Return Forge Worlds +2/-1
-[X][IMP] Deathwatch is allowed to build Watch Fortresses in Tau border regions +2/-2
-[X][IMP] Permit the Imperial Navy basing rights +3/-3
-[X][TAU] Grant the Tau Empire full claim to the Damocles Gulf -4/+3
-[X][TAU] Help the Tau establish a Telepathica Campus -2/+2, 1 Year of Time
-[X][TAU] Permit limited trade and border access along the Tau-Imperial Border -1/+2
-[X][TAU] Personally explode the Ork Empire encroaching on the Tau's northeastern border. +0/+1, 1 Year of Time
-[X][CMP] Commit to overseeing fair plebiscites on all Imperial worlds on if they wish to return to the Imperium +1/+1, 1 Year of Time
-[X][CMP] Permit Ministorum Priests and Speakers of the Greater Good to spread their faith freely +1/+1
-[X][SPC] Reveal the existence and involvement of Mona Mary Merstat +2/+0
-[X][SPC] Hold a Court of Judgement overseen by Mona and/or yourself for ex-Imperial Commanders and Officials to dispense the Emperor's Justice. What exactly that justice ends of being, of course, might not be what the anyone expects. But it shall still be Imperial Justice, handed down by those of the Emperor's blood. And in truth it is inevitable that some of those called to account will have acted only in their own best interests instead of those of their people. +2/+1, 1 Year of Time
-[X][SPC] Personally and privately request access to any STCs that Mona would be willing to grant the Imperium. Frame this in the manner of requesting a few specific points of connection between Tau and Dark Age of Humanity technology that should utterly silence any attempts at (loud) protest from the Mechanicus. Focus on life-saving technologies. Make it exceedingly clear that this is only a request, and that we are open to offering concessions to Mona in return. We know that the Mechanicus needs fixed. If our sister thinks she can do it, we're ready to be there with her every step of the way.

Thread Contest - Burning Bridges
Hi
Kaboom here

You've all made some damn good plans, plans that get both the Imperium and Tau relatively happy with the deal.

And that got me thinking.

What would the worst plan be?

So, after clearing it with Swordo, I'm here to announce the Burning Bridges contest!

The rules are simple.

Quote this message and post a plan that gets imperium and tau acceptance as low as possible. (Please don't put Xs in the plan)

The lowest total acceptance rating (say your plan has imperium at -4 and tau at -3. It adds up to -7, and thats the total acceptance rating) wins.

That being said, if either acceptance rating is above 0, you're disqualified.

The winner wins....
Something
We'll figure it out.

So, burn as many bridges as possible, and may the worst plan win!

Edit: You may use write ins, but only ones already existing or that Swordo has already vetoed
No new shit.

The Creed is explicitly xenocidal.

The Tau Greater Good seeks to incorporate differentspecies into a larger society; the Imperium views this as heresy.

At it's core the Greater Good is about people working together towards a common goal. Incorporating aliens is a policy of the Tau Empire that grew from that idea. The Tau preachers are likely to excise the 'make friends with aliens' ideas given who their target audience is.

Edit:
The Greater Good was first conceived of as a way to unite the disparate Tau tribes. Making peace with aliens is not central to the philosophy.

According to the numbers, it looks like this:

[] Plan Oh Sweet Pandora Why?
-[][IMP] Permit the Black Ships to operate on Tau Worlds
-[][IMP] Establish Imperial Quarters on Ex-Imperial Worlds
-[][IMP] Permit the Imperial Navy basing rights
-[][TAU] Grant the Tau Empire full claim to the Damocles Gulf
-[][TAU] Allow Rogue Traders to operate freely within Tau space

Final Tally: -6 Imp Acceptance, -2 Tau Acceptance, +1 Pandora Stress

You could also add in the deathwatch fortresses for +3 Imperial -3 Tau as well if you want. Really, Its a matter of choosing every net negative you and then choosing the even ones to make sure both sides are mad at you.

No new shit.

If the aim is to piss off as many people as possible, then negative imperial favour is more valuable than negative Tau favour. There are also only two options that are net negatives, so -3 from the starting total of -5 is the best you can get. With that in mind...

[] Dear God Why
-[][IMP] Permit the Imperial Navy basing rights
-[][IMP] Deathwatch is allowed to build Watch Fortresses in Tau border regions
-[][TAU] Help the Tau establish a Telepathica Campus
-[][TAU] Grant the Tau Empire full claim to the Damocles Gulf
-[][TAU] Allow Rogue Traders to operate freely within Tau space

for a total of -7 Imperial/-1 Tau, (-8)

No, the Creed is not explicitly xenocidal. It was posted just above. It says to abhor the alien, not to kill the alien. If the Imperial Creed were explicitly xenocidal, the Imperium wouldn't have categories of "Xenos Horrificus" (Tyranids and the like, shoot on sight, an actually xenocidal designation) and "Sanctioned Xenos" (permitted to land on Imperial worlds for peaceful trade, and work in the service of Rogue Traders).

Games Workshop being the general mess it is, though, you can find one writer saying there's enough Sanctioned Xenos and acceptance thereof that Hive World Necromunda has a permanent marketplace for xeno trade, and another writer saying that the Cold Trade with xenos is so illegal that Rogue Traders have to be careful to hide even xeno goods from the Inquisition. Swordo seems to lean towards the latter interpretation of the Imperium.

Actually, Rogue Traders can and do usually just sell their shit on the open market. The only people who can really stop them are Inquisitors, and in many cases those Rogue Traders are Inquisitors, so...

Can we get a non-canon side story about reactions of the winner being negotiated? Preferably with some violence to satiate my urge to purge which I am admirably holding back.

Huh. Good to know. That makes me feel a bit more optimistic about the "[][TAU] Permit limited trade and border access along the Tau-Imperial Border" concession.

I'm not entirely sure I want to read various flavors of "Pandora wtf you ruined everything" but if it happens I will anyway, like looking up a Bad Ending when you're afraid to go for it intentionally.
