I don't want to worry you, but we may have to give up on the Missouri thing. You know. For bartering.
 
Anything else we wanna try to wrangle out of the government? Some science? A way to screw over Shelbyville?
 
Hmm they could have dangerous or powerful prisoners that could make a good hero unit.

Outside of that another idea is if we want to recruit Hank Scorpio is forcing the government to clear him of all his crimes.

My problem there is that anyone they have is probably weak or a total psycho no one wants to deal with. Not great choices.

Plus, they just unveiled their new super prison. They won't risk looking stupid by releasing somebody they just put in there to us.
 
On the subject of getting Mona a pardon, I feel like we should at least figure out if she actually wants a pardon in the first place. Historically people have refused pardons for any number of reasons, so it might be best to ask first just in case

Also, I don't think she's done anything worthy of a presidential pardon. We can probably just ask the governor for that.
 
I am not expert on the law, but I know the wiki says she
she and other activists protesting germ research entered a facility owned by Mr. Burns, destroying all the biological warfare experiments

There is then also tax evasion, avoiding prosecution, and the whole signing into a federal park under a false name that Burns got her for. I don't know if she needs a state or federal pardon for those crimes, but she has crossed state lines multiple times while being on the run.

Yeah, regardless of the moral implications of it being arguably a good thing she was stopping literal biological warfare from happening, I am pretty sure the way it was portrayed in the episode and the fact Burns was most likely going to sell it to the government or something (I don't recall for certain, and Burns WOULD unironically make biological warfare stuff just for the lolz, but pretty sure this is the case) would get this labelled as straight up domestic terrorism. XD

Soooo.. that (and the aforementioned crossing several state line factor) probably would need a presidential level pardon to get Mona to not be a wanted criminal anymore

... Though in all fairness, with how crazy the US is crime wise nowadays, Mona isn't actually being ACTIVELY pursued due to having bigger fish to fry, it's just if someone recognizes her or she goes to a less chaotic pocket of the US, at the very least an attempt to arrest her would be made
 
IIRC Mona also came back to springfield because she wasn't being busted anymore for all the activism, after that it was mostly because they wanted to get her for the false names stuff only after Burns ratted her out.

EDIT: Yep season 15 states she was cleared of all charges, but Burns was enough of a fuck to get her prosecuted on that technicality.

Alright, good to know. So in light of that, do we know if Mona would actually be interested in getting a pardon? I'd guess that she accepted the charges as a badge of honor when she first got them, but after so many years I doubt she'd complain too much about a chance to settle down without having to keep looking over her shoulders for los federales.

So basically we should ask her what she thinks and if she's open to it we can throw a pardon on our list of demands. So far the reasonable requests seem to be the following:

Pardon for Mona
Help in catching the Burns 6
Possibly some amount of Income (6 sounds reasonable honestly)

With the blackmail being delivered to the govt after the Burns 6 (or however many people he has working for him) are fully caught. Any other thoughts?

We need to come out strong and let them negotiate down with us or see what we can get away with. A high start at 10 with another outlandish demand while also being willing to let them talk us down to dropping the demand and lower the amount of income is what I'd go for.

To be honest I'm not fully on board with that strategy. After all, what stops them from telling us to fuck off if we ask for too much right off the bat? Or worse yet, decide that they'll want to just sneak in and steal the blackmail away without giving up anything rather than deal with us? Better to aim for the shit we actually want out of this than to try and bite off more than we can chew.

Not entirely what I'd be after with that number but it'd certainly make it more plausible for us to achieve
