[X]Plan Minerva

How comfortable do we feel about letting our faunus servants employees work on the ship? Between there being some with sticky fingers and the probability that few of them are licensed in engineering it would probably be a work force that needs more then a bit of micromanaging. Granger might be good at that, right? As far as resources go would Mountain Glenn be worth the trouble with the white fang would bring us?

Because at this point it's less about which grandiose flying city we should choose and more about if we can speed the production up enough to be worth the upgrades.

I like Plan Minerva the best but Plan Witness The Firepower Of This Fully Armed And Operational Battle Station! would be optimal if we can get it going fast enough to not be caught on the ground when shit hits the fan. If we can't get the resources or workers then I'm going to have to cast my vote for one of the Lifeboat plans.

Practically, if the objective is only a lifeboat, then [] Plan Dimensional Lifeboat looks like it would be the most realistic option in terms of safety, effectiveness and cost in time and effort for the objective of being able to take a group of people before any major event needing it.

Personally though, if at all possible the biggest feasible ship would be better to carry the best amount of useful infrastructure, industrial capacity and people, since future upgrades and additions would be easier to do with more space and volume to use without needing to modify the ship. Under that goal, [] Plan Minerva looks like the best bet for something huge, but not unfeasible to complete in time with some extra effort before world-evacuation level events occur.

However, if one considers Remnant and the Faunus population it holds, I wonder if a far larger group of them would be willing to join up at the chance to leave the death-world behind entirely, along with all the prejudice from people, and the daily threat to life from the Grimm. Because if something like the size of the floating arena is built, a vast amount of people would be able to live in it, not to mention needed to keep it maintained and running. I'd like to see if enough those kind of people can be recruited one way or another to help build the absolute maximized airship plan in a feasible time, for a potentially far happier life outside of this world.

While realistically most worlds would be better than theirs, you're asking a historically exploited people to trust in Cynric's good will. They're used to being taken advantage of and being expected to be grateful for it by groups like the Schnee corp. You and I know that Cynric has their best interests at heart, but all they'd see is another corporation exploiting them for quick gain. We'll just have to wait until the worlds burning around them and we look like their only option. Cynric the savior back at it again.

We can throw Louise at our problems until that's done. + our new dragon. Dragon > Battleship.

So, Tsun is kinda an undead, right? Is he a mindless undead? Would Awaken undead do anything for him?

Edit: Yeah, I know we call him a zombie but he feels more like a perfect flesh golem. Which Is why I had to ask if he would count as undead for the spell. Actually, he's more like a Soul stitch from 5e.
I would say no on the spell, since that DnD spell requires that the undead be completely lacking in intelligence as if they were animated purely through magic. Tsun and other Elder Scrolls zombies/skeletons are corpses with souls/daedra bound into them, so they do have intelligence to some degree depending on the animating spirit.
Roal Dahl wrote that our appearance is a reflection of our soul. With Tsun being as attractive as he is... one wonders what selfless, gandi-esque, minor daedric spirit have we trapped.

On a serious note. If we want Yang's pining to go anywhere, we should ensoul Tsun. Mainly because, while he acts with a degree of intelligence, I'm not certain he's sapient.
He's not sapient, but he is sentient. The daedra within him is roughly as intelligent as a bunny.
Does that mean the animating spirit is going to be steadily warped towards similarity to Louise?
Thus making the name descriptive? :p
Not quite... though it does mean that something would happen if she actually put effort into mastering her familiar bond. I'll give you a hint; not all of her nightmares are due to her own mental trauma.
I'm confused, is the Onboard Oblivion Travel Capabilities an Oblivion Gate or the ability to transport the ship through Oblivion?
I had something else in mind other than an onboard gate, but yes, it means that the ship can travel through Oblivion without needing a separate gate structure.
remember, the nimitz class is still over 300 metres long, which translates to a hell of a lot of disposable test subjects crewmembers.
If we still had the xcom members, I'd probably go for the Colosseum.
also, if we upgrade the ship after constructing it, weapons could probably be dropped down to 1

I feel I must highlight this comment in particular to help you guys understand the scale of these option in comparison to things you might see in other worlds. The Normandy SR-2 from Mass effect is 170 meters in length according to the Art Director and is classified as a frigate. A Covenant Capital ship such as Regret's super carrier in Halo 2 is roughly 27-28 kilometers in length. Just judging by the size of evacuees in season three compared to the vehicles they are boarding, those luxury air buses you see docking with Amity Colosseum are huge despite how the wiki puts their carrying capacity at a meager 40 passengers. That makes the flying stadium ginormous and so I'm putting that option as something that would fit into Mass Effect's dreadnought category. It'd still be dwarfed by Halo or a lot of Star Wars, but there's no way you could build something like those universes' have on Remnant.

Also, magic reduces the need for a lot of the crew. Maintenance is largely unnecessary with enchantments on a space ship and only technological parts will need technicians. People to operate weaponry, a mage to manage the magical defenses, a pilot, security, and whoever is needed for comms or other such bridge stations. Conjuration and necromancy are all that are really needed outside of your core group if you really don't want to involve others.

I just like the irony that the remnants of XCOM have become the alien invaders with a mother ship of their own.

He who fights monsters, indeed.

We can totally make our own Weatherlight, it'd be so flippin' sweet. But you know what'd be even sweeter? If it was HUGE.

Just prioritize getting the planeshift feature up and running ASAP, in case things go tits-up. Or at least get it air/seaborne, then we could summon some big, distracting Grimm sponges as while it plods away to the nearest port that's not overrun by monsters/on fire/being pelted by moon rocks/experiencing some new and exciting catastrophe that has absolutely nothing to do with us.

I mean, I was thinking that we would try to actively avoid worlds with air superiority, but this makes it sound unavoidable.

out of curiosity, does this mean we could do something like an internal IFF, to prevent anyone from sneaking aboard?
I hadn't really been considering magic much in the creation, but it might be worth throwing in a few special functions.

You could make something that requires having a certain item on your person to enter or you could be more secure by making it so only a select few souls can enter under any circumstances, but the second would prevent any new additions to the party or crew from ever boarding... Though every security measure can potentially be broken.

Begining Construction
An airship was what you had intended when bringing the proposal to Raymond, but he and Trobror quickly ran away with the idea. 'Why settle for being stuck on a single planet?' had been the reptilian's words and the chief engineer agreed wholeheartedly. That in itself wouldn't have changed anything in your mind once upon a time, since you knew for a fact that an airship could be upgraded to sail through Oblivion... the two of them made sure to correct that line of thought.

Apparently both of their home realms weren't simply a planet that was surrounded by Oblivion, but one of many that hung in a pale imitation of the void between realms. Though their simply named 'space' and Oblivion are both awash in unseen energies that would destroy an unprotected vessel, one far faster than the other, space was a a relatively stable environment that needed its own protections. Dispersing heat, armor against radiation and impacts, and maintaining an air tight interior were the main concerns in space; whereas guarding against chaotic fields of nonexistence and malevolent entities was the priority in Oblivion... crew aboard an aethership could walk along the upper deck as easily as on Nirn so long as the proper magics were in place.

So it was that the three of you set about incorporating both sets of protection in the plan.

Which led to the issue of size. Trobror wanted a smaller vessel, something that could hold only two dozen people and had the minimum of everything other than speed, maneuverability, and stealth. Raymond sought a ship with maximum defensive ability and the facilities that he and Vahlen were accustomed to having back on their own world. You simply wanted to pile everything possible into a singular mobile fortress so as to not need to go through the process of rebuilding again.

Since by this point it seemed inevitable that you would be forced to move to a new world eventually, you used that as leverage to sway them to your way of thinking. Raymond agreed easily enough due to your end goal meeting his standards, but Trobror only agreed to help once you promised to make the ship capable of stealth and Oblivion travel before moving on to the rest.

-----------------------------------

Two and a half weeks, many a magicka potion, and one extremely annoyed Cattleya later saw the basic skeleton of the ship halfway complete. It is shaping up to be a strange looking vessel, like a tower with a series of rings and four egg shaped structures intended to house much of what x-com has learned about Etherial ship building technology. Not that the rings or eggs are anywhere near being ready yet, but eventually the propulsion eggs will be mounted at an angle along the largest ring in the center of the ship at even intervals, placed so as to be capable of independent rotation along their mounting.

The reason for Cattleya's annoyance is due to having her time devoted entirely toward transmuting stone to metal, only stopping to sleep. Yourself having been making potions and using Azura's Star to enchant the 'bones' of the ship one by one even knowing that you will later need to refit the vessel piece by piece with a stronger type of metal than normal steel, you can relate. Then again... she might simply be upset that you've had the kwama open up a chasm in the forest East of their mine that is three hundred meter across and eight hundred deep.

It was a rushed excavation that was only really safe due to only needing to go straight down. The whole process has gone relatively smoothly nevertheless; with undead labor created from the skeletons found in Mountain Glenn and dead kwama workers, Raymond's guidance, and Trobror doing the heavy lifting alongside Espinoza's power armored bulk. You'd gone that route to assist in building a tower-like structure as well as to keep anyone from noticing the construction... at least until it is nearing completion, at which point it will rise just above the abandoned city's skyline.

Such a thing would be pretty hard to hide normally, but you should have the stealth enchantments in place by that point. Since you are going all in and maximizing defensive and stealth capabilities, Alteration style invisibility is something you intend to work on to perfect over a large scale. Intangibility on something you aren't in direct control of like your body means that the ship will be immobile and incapable of fighting while in that state, but that should render it undetectable to anyone on Remnant at least, though Ozpin or any of the other five powerful mages you can sense might be able to tell that something is there.

All in all, the project is going smoothly, though the Kwama's expansion was put on hold for the first week. At the current pace, the ship should be at least flight and Oblivion ready within two months. Defenses, weaponry, and everything other than the most basic functions will take quite a bit longer.

The only real threat to your progress so far is the single bullhead that was spotted in the air over Mountain Glenn that morning.

[] Ignore them and keep working on the ship.
-[] Have Louise come serve as a magicka battery on the weekends, reducing build time by two weeks.
-[] Hire on additional faunus labor to speed things up. Will reduce income into the negative, dipping into the last hundred thousand Lien from Ozpin's loan, but will reduce build time by two weeks.
-[] Continue as is.

[] Do something illegal to speed up construction.
-[] take over a foundry to produce metals that won't need replaced after the ship's maiden voyage.
-[] work with Shino to steal Dust to make more Gravity Dust.
-[] Visit the nearby town of Ansel and slaughter the populace to create more undead workers.

What about setting growing vats and make bodies that grow fast but dies outside the tank then animate the bones
You don't really have the resources for that. You're currently relying on Cattleya to transmute dirt just so you can get the metal for the ship, you're not that well off at the moment.

Can we do both legal and illegal actions at the same time? Such as choosing both getting Louise's help and taking over a foundry for the metal.

What did you have in mind?

More business expansions, maybe more advertising, we've gotten some Beacon Students to visit we could try and get more coming regularly.

We could also try and maybe get Weiss as an investor at some point if we're successful enough, she'll probably want future sources of income separate from Schnee holdings due to family issues.

Possibly start looking into brewing some different kinds of alcohol considering our... very varied backgrounds, that'd sell for a lot once we get it set up, and magic might speed it up.

Illegal actions and going into negative income aside, Louise's help should be voted for at least to reduce the time needed.

What about selling some enchanted magical shit for exorbitant prices? Then mind-rape some rich guys that we lure in with the enchantments into becoming an investor in the project? That should... Lol, be feasible, right?

@PieceThruWar Could we teach our Faunus workers very basic magic, like only the spells Cattleya is using to transmute dirt to metal? That way we could make use of our workers, turning them into a magical mass production while stopping them from learning enough to become dangerous (to us) mages

What about going to graveyards on the lands around us (instead of slaughtering villages) and raising all the undead? There should be some mass-grave sites from Grimm attacks, places like Mountain Glenn.

Finally, could we summon a few magical creatures (who love to serve) who could help us build it? Magical creatures like House Elves?

(I ask because I don't know how much freedom you actually give us with that Write-In option)
