[X] Plan: Battlefield Control!
-[X] Deny the enemy any chance of ranged retaliation; drop an AOE Disintegrate on their equipment!
-[X] Cast a pair of staggered Ice Walls, at the height of your foes waists; with their weapons so much dust, the will be forced to engage in melee. You allies shall mow them down as they struggle across the spiked obstacles!
-[X] Summon another one of those handy teleporting birds.
-[X] Have the bird forcibly remove one of the green giants from the battlefield.
-[X] Perhaps the one with the egg if Disintegration didn't take care of that, otherwise the one that's closest to you.
-[X] Your foe should be teleported somewhere very high in the air, above one of those bandit groups you spotted earlier.
-[X] Cast Animate Dead as appropriate.
-[X] Many cadavers makes light work!

Now when you say summon another phoenix, do you mean actually summoning another or just calling one of the ones already under your thrall?

I'd say summoning another one; that way it can more immediately remove one of those super mutants from play. Calling one of the ones under thrall would be more efficient, but then the bird would have to wait for it's teleport to cooldown, wouldn't it?

Can't we just cast Fury on them, and wait for a victor to emerge... then gun down the survivors?

Most of them are melee oriented, which makes the 'hostile to everything' effect particularly appealing.

Yup, it would. I just wanted to be sure, since you'll be close to or completely out of magicka at the end of you plan.

[X] Plan: Let others do all the work!
-[X] Cast AoE Fury, let them fight it out between themselves.
-[x] Raise some kind of barrier so that your team doesn't get hurt on accident
-[x] Finish off the survivor(s) however you deem appropriate

Should leave us some loot, too.

Jolly Green Giants
Not waiting for the giants to attack, the three soldiers unleash a hail of bullets. The green skinned hound dies to Lieutenant Zhao's rifle, four rounds piercing it's face as Rodriguez and Lee focus on it's masters. Since you don't know what the enemies' weapons are capable of, you create a Barrier ward with one hand and begin laying down a wall of ice with the other. Most of the squad's shots ping uselessly off of the armor protecting the rotary cannon wielder, with only a single lucky hit punching into it's right elbow and making the creature's arm sway.

Unfortunately, the green skinned brutes aren't content to stand still and wait for death, the three armed for melee having closed the half the distance between your two groups in seconds. With barely ten feet before they reach the ice barrier that was just then growing to reach knee height on the giants, you lob a glowing orb into their midst and watch the crimson light of Fury wash over them. To no apparent effect other than stopping for a moment of confused expectation. Bullets rip through the air between your two parties as the rotary cannon finishes spooling and although Rodriquez's carapace armor easily stops them, the man crumple with the sound of breaking bone and the unarmored sections of his body are shredded.

With Rodriguez down and the melee fighters Lee screams what you guess are obscenities in his native tongue and throws a grenade over the barrier of ice, but one of the giants uses his wooden plank to knock the explosive back and the blast knocks the three of you off your feet. Hacking blood as the smoke clears, you hear the clanging of metal on metal and guttural laughter. Sitting back up, you see the brute with the hammer has dropped his shield and begun hitting Zhao hard enough to leave massive dents in his armored torso. Lee manages to take a knee and flip one of the others, their fight turning into a rolling brawl as a shadow looms over you from behind.

You turn your head just enough to see a spiked chunk of wood slam into your faceplate, knocking you back down and making your ears ring as it snaps over your helmet. Drawing your sword, you ram the blade through the grinning green giant's face and stagger to your feet. The rotary cannon fires again and the repeated impacts serve only to scratch your suit, not even staggering you, so you disregard it for now. Lee seems to be doing well enough on his own, Rodriguez dead or wounded, Zhao immobilized at best, breathing problems and a sharp pain in your chest, and there are four enemies remaining.

A/N: We've previously established that magicka and radiation are deeply connected, so for those of you familiar with Fallout, the fact that radiation immune super mutants are resistant to direct magical effects such as illusion should come as no surprise. Super Mutants can rip apart Fallout power armor with their bare hands, luckily for you guys, alien alloy is much tougher than anything used in armor in Fallout... that super sledge on the other hand...

[X] Charge the egg carrier and rotary cannon to engage in melee hose them down with Sparks.
-[X] Cast some Ebonyflesh on yourself first, just in case.

Edit: Actually, wait, would the super-mutants magic resist apply to the sparks, or would it be considered electrical damage rather than magical?

They would be more resistant to it than they would regular lightning, but it would still cause electrical damage. Similarly, Frost would still freeze and Flames would still burn because it's using magicka to cause a physical effect on the world.

I guess by that logic they would make fantastic alchemy ingredients?
We should summon something to draw their attention.

[X] Summon a Golden Saint to mangle those brutes while you hurriedly slather on a dose of Magicka Regen Salve.

For some reason when you said Lee there, I just thought of Rock Lee from Naruto.

Hmm...

@PieceThruWar How much Magicka would it cost to summon Team Gai from Naruto, just out of curiosity?

Individually? The same as it cost to summon any other human so far. You won't be able to bind any of them other than Lee though. You'll need to specify if you want Maito Gai or not if you make a vote for it, because Team Gai could mean either.

I don't think Gai would appreciate all the kidnaped ninja students we have laying around.

Do you have any plans if we head to other countries in the fallout universe?
Most of the world is a horrible wasteland on par with D.C. and the glowing sea. China is a land of ghouls, the UK is one of the worst off due to having suffered nuclear war with the middle east before the Great War ended the world. Russia and South America are the best off in terms of nature, but the US has the highest population thanks to Vault Tec. Australia is essentially Tuchanka without the lizard people and is host to tribal marsupial people who are at war with the surviving Auzzies.

I won't really have more of a solid plan until it is clearly going to be relevant.

The Return of Uncle Sheo's Daughter!
Things may be dire, but you've dealt with worse. Reaching through the planar barriers, you intend to show these brutes exactly why numerical superiority is meaningless against a Conjuror. Padomaic fire bursts into being behind the giant with the rotary canon and a gleaming sword bisects the creature's skull as your summon steps into the world. Locking it's reptilian eyes with your own, the daedroth snarls, "You again?!"

You'd give her a jaunty wave, but your wounds protest against such notions, so you simply ignore her and order her to fight. Turning your back to the enemy, you slide the helmet off of your armor and levitate out to search for your Magicka salve. You can feel the Golden Saint struggling against it's binding, the willful creature's disdain for mortals being enough so that you are forced to drop the connection to several of the firebirds you'd left to help around the base. Thankfully she is somewhat distracted by the egg carrier exploding in her face and despite her managing to deflect the majority of the blast with her shield as if it were a mere arrow, it does throw off her concentration long enough for you to stabilize your hold on the rest of them. Damnable Saints are almost as difficult to reign in as a frenzied Spider daedra or Nocturnal.

With the charred Daedroth charging back toward you and the hammer wielder, you are free to carefully slather on a goodly amount of salve, taking a moment to remove your pesky sleeves while you're at it. It is lucky that none of your belongings in your bag were damaged by Lee's grenade, as many of them are irreplaceable without returning to Nirn... not a concept you are willing to entertain for the time being. Unfastening the knapsack from the exterior of the powered armor, you take it with you as you climb back inside and seal the suit. It's an uncomfortable fit even ignoring your wounds and you wonder if perhaps you and Raymond can devise a better method to safely carry your supplies.

Focusing back on the battle, you see Lee stomping a hole in his foe's chest as it gurgles defiance and claws at his boot. Zhao still hasn't moved, but his attacker is now trading blows with the Golden Saint, who seems content to deflect and dodge the hammer strikes while slashing the beast's limbs. More than willing to let the fight drag on and restore some magicka, you watch as the green giant is slowly dyed red with his own blood. After about five minutes of this, the giant steps back onto his discarded shield and kicks it at the Daedra, who sidesteps the projectile before giving him a disdainful sneer.

The giant, beginning to slow from blood loss, grips his hammer with both hands and bellows in rage as it charges one last time. Not bothering to dodge, the Golden Saint steps forward at the last moment and cleaves the beast's left arm off at the elbow before spinning around to ram her sword into it's heart. With a shuddering breath, the giant grips the charred flesh of her wrist and wrenches her sword from her grasp before staggering back. It's head turns to look for support, finding nothing but corpses for allies. Finally noticing the predicament, the giant turns to flee and Lee shoots out it's knees.

The last of the enemies is bleeding out on the cracked roadway, your squad in tatters, a wounded daughter of Sheogorath struggling against your hold on her body, and you are in no shape to travel far. Without your powered armor, you would be hard pressed to move at a moderate pace due to how little air you seem to be drawing with each breath. The need to cough is only compounding the issue, but you're sure that if you start, you might cause more harm and resist the urge as best you can.

Magicka: (200/650)

Choose at least 2:

[] Heal:
[] Cast Grand heal for until the squad is fully healed or magicka is depleted.
[] Cast close wound thrice for 30 magicka to repair the lung and set the bone. Drink one Health Regen potion(x3 remaining) to aid in long term recovery.
[] Major potion of Restore health(x3 remaining): Heals all physical wounds short of severed limbs.

[] Use another portion of Magicka regen Salve for 150 magicka.

[] Call a phoenix for emergency transport back to base. X-com loses 1 of 2 Zodiac boat.

[] Leave someone to guard the wounded while you continue to this 'Diamond city'.
[] Lee
[] Golden Saint
[] Attempt the talking Diplomance the Golden Saint.

[] Write in.

A/N: Messed up and put 600 instead of 650 for your magicka cap in the last two chapters. It's fixed now.

-[] Golden Saint

Have to save that magicka to impress the locals and the Golden Saint might make us look less impressive by comparison.

I want to use 99% of our magicka on healing (with enough remaining to control the Golden saint), use the Magicka Regent salve, and then proceed with the mission alongside anyone combat-ready. We don't want to go into battle without any Magicka after all.

[X] Use another portion of Magicka regen Salve for 150 magicka.
[X] Summon a new phoenix for transport of immobilized X-Com members and super-mutant carcasses (for replenishing potion stocks later)
-[X] The new phoenix should return to you after it's finished it's tasks in case an emergency extraction is necessary.
[X] Continue to this 'Diamond city' with the remaining combat-ready X-Coms.
-[X] Use the Golden Saint to check for traps/minesweep along the way.

[X]Call a phoenix to you and have it heal everyone
-[X] Transport the mutant corpses back for science
--[X] Have gold saint go as forward scout

In case anyone forgot a HP phoenix can heal anything short of death/death curses.
