I feel compelled to capture one to throw at Cattleya later. I know Louise wouldn't say "my bugs are better than your bugs," but the idea is tempting.

It's not about the magic, it's about the killing, the death, the genocide, the wars, the attitude towards others. She's a cape with unknown powers, who has been through some serious shit and doesn't care who she has to kill in order to follow her master's orders. That would scare the crap out of Lisa.
Well yes, there's that. Still, if she's stupid brave enough to threaten Hurricane Victoria and taunt ol' Jackie boy of Murder hoboes anonymous, what makes you think she cares about a traumatized preteen hanging out with Panacea? She's not actually psychic, so it's not like she's just going to randomly know Louise did all that.

She's at an earlier stage, where being threatened with death actually scares her, as per why she's working for Coil to begin with. She couldn't really run away from Victoria anyway, since she can fly fast and catch her, so she had to find a way to get out of there. And she probably wouldn't see trauma in Louise, instead an utter lack of empathy for the peasants around her, as well as a sure willingness to kill. So, a violent sociopath with superpowers covered in blood.

I don't know any of the people involved, and descriptions do nothing for me. I'll sit that one out.

Tempted to just wait to maintain the persona. If we wanted to, we can always find them, slaughter them and take their pocket change later.

...tempted to grab a spider too, though.

Hey, we made a persona. No need to blow it when it doesn't concern us.

You could have kept Amy away from this fateful event if you'd chosen to accept and not actually show up, she would have waited on the steps and been locked out of the building when the Undersiders showed up.

But then we'd have missed out on all the potential bloodshed trauma fun that's about to happen :lol. I also love the way how Louise sees the group, and sees Regent of all people as the 'obvious noble leader'.

Tattletale's power still isn't perfect mind reading. A cold reading, from someone who she hasn't even heard speak yet? Super intuition can't get all those details right away (especially since it gives her wrong info too, and she has to look at it and decide which info to keep and which to discard). Also, a lot of the situations Louise has been in are tied up and wrapped around magic to an integral degree, which the shards can't read yet, so it'll act as a fairly large blindspot when Tattletale tries to figure her out.

[X] Fifteen minutes isn't that long to wait, just let them do their business.
-[X] Ready a frost cloak and ice spikes if it looks like the situation is about to change and have them attack.

Don't try to break the cover we've made, but be prepared if things go wrong. Ice cloak can help deal with the bugs and ice spikes is one of our best precision attacks (it also helps when questioned late by just making it look like she has ice powers as well as healing, not showing quite how versatile Louise is). The precision could also help us maybe recover our persona afterwards by not killing everyone nearby with our usual tactics.

[X] Grab Amy.
-[X] Cast Ebonyflesh.
-[X] Cast Alteration Invisibility.
-[X] Leave.

Sorry, Louise, the ones with the spiders get to skip the line. Nobody said life was fair.

A Trip To The Bank: Part 2
"Any trouble?" The leatherbound skeleton asked the purple striped prostitute, it's hollow voice echoing strangely. It was showing a concerning degree of independence for one of the undead, a sure sign of trouble. If it wasn't a skeletal minion then it was possible that the being was actually a lich and Master Cynric was quite clear about the dangers of an immortal mage.

Seeming comfortable in the creature's presence, the blonde began leading the majority of her group back out of the room and answered, "We're okay for now."

With all of the potential enemies gone other than their leader and two of the demons, Louise decided to maintain her act for the moment. After all, it wouldn't hurt to let these people go free as long as they left her be. The nobleman spent most of the next few minutes alternating between peering out of the doors and casting glances at his hostages.

Unfortunately for him, Amy didn't seem too enthused with waiting and was using Louise's body to shield herself from the man's view. Huddled together on the floor, she couldn't see what Amy was doing without being suspicious, but the clicking noises informed her that the healer was using her phone to communicate with somebody.

"Don't worry, help is on the way." The girl whispered in a poor attempt at reassuring some one she thought was a scared child.

It was rather humiliating for that to be the healer's assumption, but it served the heiress' purpose well enough she supposed. Deciding to go with it, she shivered and clung to the brunette. An uncomfortably long while later, the sound of approaching sirens drew the rest of the thieves from the building's interior once more. They appeared agitated as they stepped up to the door and looked out into the street. Unexpectedly, the first to talk was the skeleton as it growled out, "Tattletale, you know how I say you're a fucking dumbass sometimes?"

"Uh, Tats... didn't you say the Protectorate would be out of town?" The leader asked as the bug controller began to breath heavily.

"They shouldn't be here!" The blonde trollop, Tattletale, shouted in alarmed confusion. "The boss said-"

"He was wrong, obviously! Jesus, we're lucky they care about hurting bystanders or Militia could have put a bullet through Regent's eye by now!" The possible lich was shouting now... somehow. Come to think of it, the thing had a lot more bulk to it than a skeleton should.

Bug-girl shook her head in denial, having regained her senses with admirable speed. "No, there's no way she'd do something like that, she's a hero."

"It doesn't matter, Miss Militia and half the wards have the front covered and I'd bet money on Halbeard being nearby." Tattletale said, interrupting the would-be argument before it began.

The dog masked woman was about to say something, but didn't get a chance as the skeleton asked, "How about the back? I could send flood the block and-"

"Vista is out there, going out the back is the same as using the front door." Tattletale said, rubbing at the bridge of her nose. "No, there's too many to fight and any ground we cover is going to be multiplied by the little squirt."

Louise fought back a laugh at that. It sounded like Vicky's friend was a real pain in the rear to go against. Thankfully any noise was covered by the sirens and panicked hostages. The skeleton slumped his shoulders and sighed, "Are you saying we should surrender?"

The dog-girl bristled. "We have hostages. If they come in here, we take out one of the hostages."

Ignoring the whimpers her teammate's words caused, the armored girl shook her head. "That's the worst thing we could do in this situation. No, we need to take them by surprise."

Louise didn't catch the rest of their conversation due to them huddling together, but a few moments of intense conversation later had the group turning toward their hostages. With over a dozen larger bodies between them and the thieves, neither Louise or Amy were noticed as the skeleton and the armored bug controller began to select individuals from the crowd. When the armored girl came closer, Louise buried her face in Amy's chest to hide her masked face and squeezed the healer tightly as if terrified.

"Don't even think about it, asshole!" The pinkette heard Amy growl, the words vibrating in a strangely soothing manner.

It was such a rare thing for her to be so close to another like this, even if it was just a convenient act rather than a real embrace. Shaking her head to clear away those depressing thoughts, blushing as she realized that she'd just inadvertently done something that could be construed as perverted. Thankfully Amy just took it as a sign of fear and spun the two of them around to use her own body as a shield.

"I-I'm really sorry about this." A muffled voice said gently as the girl continued on.

A minute or so later, several hostages were partially bound and gathered at the front entrance. More whispered conversation passed between the group of thieves and then the doors were thrown open. Eight prisoners were thrust out into the wall of darkness before all but Tattletale and bug-girl followed.

"One last thing to do," Tattletale announced with a strained smile, "I'll be right back. Keep an eye on things here."

"What? No! Tattletale! Dammit!" Bug-girl shouted, apparently disagreeing with her morally loose compatriot.

The following silence was eerie, only faint sounds of combat reaching through the muffling shadows to reach the door. Without the smokey darkness coating the edges of the room, Louise noticed the shear number of insects nearby and suddenly her fear wasn't entirely fake. A few dozen chaurus was one thing, but the swarming mass of chitin and fang that writhed and surged out into the street was another entirely. If this was what the girl brought when she didn't want to hurt people, Louise was afraid to think about what her home must look like.

The girl seemed unsteady on her feet and staggered just as the darkness outside separated into smaller pockets. The bone demons loped between clouds of shadow, striking out at the strangely dressed nobles that had come to save everyone. One demon pounced on a boy in rust colored armor and began to shake him around like a dog with hunk of meat before the world around it distorted and a white hand touched it's flank. For whatever reason, the demon stopped moving, apparently under the effect of a spell from one of the nobles.

When the world snapped back into place, the owner of the white hand bumped fists with a little girl in green who must have been Vista. Beside her was a woman in camouflage who had a large rifle in her hands and a white on red striped scarf over her face... or was it red on white? Either way, the rifle belched flames as another of the demons lost one of it's rear legs and collapsed in a whimpering heap. A third demon leapt out of the darkness and was promptly frozen mid air like the first before a pair of grenades were tossed at it.

As the final demon was submerged in an expanding mass of yellow-white foam, two events happened at once. The darkness vanished, leaving behind a bewildered Regent and an retching skeleton... which was perhaps one of the oddest things she'd seen in her life. The second thing to happen at that moment was Armsmaster entering through one of the interior doors with Victoria of all people!

Even without her spider parts and her upper body being the proper size for a human rather than the proportionally larger version Louise was used to, there was no mistaking that this was Vicky. Her perfect golden hair, her beautiful and strong facial features, her heroic appearance like something out of a bedtime story. Why hadn't she gone out and found Vicky sooner? Surely the merciful goddess before her would have been much more helpful than the worthless peons she spent the last few days with. Armsmaster said something irrelevant and launched an attack from his weapon, but Louise couldn't be bothered to turn and watch when she could look at Vicky instead.

Ignoring the growing warmth in the back of her head, the pinkette felt her heart flutter when Victoria floated over to land next to her. "Amy, are you okay?!" The beautiful blonde asked with such concern that it didn't even matter to Louise that she was being ignored.

"Yeah sis, I'm fine." Amy said, cementing her place as second most important after perfect Victoria. "Louise are you... Vicky, can you cut that out?"

"Wha- Oh yeah, sure." Vicky said apologetically and just like that, the blonde didn't seem nearly as captivating.

Hissing in pain, Louise held the back of her head where Vahlen implanted the 'anti-psionic chip'. The skin over the device was tender and feverish, making the girl rather annoyed at both herself and Vicky. Sure, she'd been told about some sort of aura and should have expected it, but her friend hadn't mentioned how strong it was! Glaring at Vicky, she took a step back and held up her hands to begin healing herself.

"Whoa, calm down!" Vicky said, apparently misunderstanding what the growing glow meant. "I'm a hero."

"Watch out, she might heal you to death!" Amy jeered and looked down in concern. At Louise's dismissive wave, she turned her attention back to the blonde. "Shouldn't you be helping with the fight?"

"She'd the mysterious new healer you were talking about? Isn't she a bit young to work at the hospital?" Vicky asked, causing the pinkette's chest to clench painfully.

How could she just- No, don't be stupid Louise, she hasn't met you yet.

Done with healing her minor, if painful wound, she did her best to ignore the creeping doubts in her mind. It wasn't like Vicky forgot about her, this was just the past somehow. Master Cynric did say time wasn't a solid concept between realms. "I was just as young when I started." Amy argued.

"Yeah and you turned out so cheerful."

Huffing, the brunette gave her sister a small smile and pointed out, "You still haven't said anything about helping- Armsmaster!"

A gunshot deafened everyone in the room, causing Louise and Victoria to turn to see the man in question stagger. Luckily, he appeared uninjured... not so luckily, he was immediately swarmed by a buzzing cloud of insects as the bug-girl drunkenly staggered toward the pistol wielding Tattletale.

Even less lucky, to the uninformed perhaps, Amy's shout caused the blonde thief to turn and lock eyes with Louise.

Why are we doing non-lethal?

Not One Mention Of A 'Fox-like' Grin
Having heard the crashing sound of somebody entering the bank through the back, Lisa stealthily made her way back toward the lobby. The faint sounds of combat were easily picked apart by her power without any real effort. Things were not looking good for her team. It wasn't supposed to be like this! The Protectorate was supposed to be at a joint event with the BBPD at the Augustus Country Club, what changed?

Whirring; servo motors, high torque strength, high RPM.
Inconsistent timing; multiple motors, small size to maximize effective use of volume, timing matches sounds of footsteps and combat, powered armor.
Tinker tech; Kid Win utilizes hover technology, Armsmaster more likely candidate. Taylor engaged in combat with Armsmaster.

Shutting off her power as much as she could before it spun into details she could work out for herself, Lisa pulled out her handgun and leaned around the corner to peek at the battle. Taylor was doing a surprisingly good job holding her own against the Protectorate leader. The man's face bore the signs of several dozen bites and stings, as well as the squashed remains of the bugs that did it, but was unable to get a meaningful hit on the frantically dodging girl. Sure, her right arm looked to be fractured or worse and she was visibly growing more unsteady as the fight went on... OK, maybe she wasn't doing so hot.

Quickly scanning the room, she spotted Glory girl talking with Panacea and an unfamiliar cape. Not wasting any time, Lisa took an admittedly poor shooter's stance, used her power to help line up a shot, and waited for Panacea to look in her direction.

"Armsmaster!"

Smirking as the man stopped for a brief moment, Lisa used the shouted warning to her advantage and fired. The bullet hit the hero in the back of his knee, causing him to overbalance and fall to the floor. Taking her cue, Taylor didn't hesitate to drown the man in her little soldiers. Judging by his choking screams, she would have to guess her teammate was feeling pretty vindictive at the moment. As Taylor staggered over to her, Lisa wrapped an arm around her waist to help support her.

Blowing on the barrel of her pistol like an old western star, Lisa grinned at the trio of capes on the sideline. "Huh, who would have guessed all Halbeard needed to show some emotion was a real life horror movie?" She asked, wincing when Taylor flinched at her words.

Feels guilty. Told Armsmaster about plan. Didn't mean to let things escalate so far.

"You might as well give, psycho, it's only a matter of time until the Wards finish up with your friends outside." Victoria Dallon taunted, the flying brick crossing her arms as she floated upward just to look down imperiously.

"How about a better option?" Lisa grinned and pointed her gun at the girl with the obnoxious dye job. "You stay put while my friend and I go on our merry way, then I don't have to put a bullet in-"

Tensing; Prepared to attack. Not scared, doesn't feel concerned for her safety. Not concerned for the safety of others. Not concerned about collateral damage.
Confident; movement of facial muscles indicates amusement. Unknown powers. Brute or Breaker likely. Losing patience, was willing to feign helplessness until threatened. Uncaring of legal repercussions. Feels relatively comfortable wearing blood stained clothing. Is used to it. Has killed before.

"- in... uh." Well, that settled that. Shifting her aim to Panacea, knowing neither members of New Wave would try to murder her at least. She coughed awkwardly before finishing, ignoring the little psychopath's amusement. "In one of you."

Completely missing the byplay, Glory Hole smiled cruelly. "Ha, good luck with that. I'm invincible and we have two healers that can cover each other." Two?

Pupillary response, respiration, and blood flow indicative of honesty. Glory girl has never shown healing powers. High probability that unknown cape is the healer.

No shit, really power? "Something's wrong with my power." Taylor said through grit teeth. Panacea was in the room, had direct access to Taylor's bugs due to the spiders placed on every hostage, and was much more versatile than New Wave let the public know. It didn't take super intuition to put the pieces together.

Squishing the effected spiders was out of the question, what with little miss Alexandria-lite being in the way. "Can you kill the widows on Panacea?" Lisa whispered, receiving a head shake in reply. Sighing at another needless complication to what should have been a simple plan, Lisa called out, "Nobody's been hurt so far... well, other than Armsy, but we can have Panacea cover that up and pretend this didn't happen. Are you sure you want to risk all these civilians coming to harm? What would mommy dearest think?"

It was just a handful of words chosen from experience. Since her power could pick up on the smallest of details, she'd long become accustomed to using specific words to invoke maximum reaction from her targets. Mentioning anything related to pain or injury, talking about family, implying something considered taboo, hinting at illicit or illegal activities; all of these provoked some sort of reaction from even the most well practiced poker face and her power faithfully picked them out. Still, it was odd when her words caused all three girls to react to such a degree.

Glory Girl potential murder; shifting eye contact, pupil dilation, and hitched breath when a cover up is suggested indicate guilt. Panacea's control of biology potentially useful in disposal of bodies. Emotional aura ensures Panacea's cooperation.
New Wave family suffers from troubled home life; Panacea shows signs of exhaustion, mention of mother figure causes Panacea to flinch, Glory Girl's eyes flicker toward her sister in worry, Carol Dallon abusive? No signs of physical injury, new healer negates valid method to detect injury. Emotionally abused or severe neglect at minimum.
Unknown cape about to attack.

Managing to duck in time thanks to the warning from her power, Lisa barely avoided the shard of ice that embedded itself in the brick wall. Why? I wasn't even threatening her anymore!

Mentally unstable. Suffered trauma involving her mother. Poor choice of words for a taunt.

"Christ, I wasn't even talking about you, brat!" Lisa cried in alarm as she shot back. The rabid bitch just roared and charged across the floor, all but ignoring the new hole in her gut.

Doesn't appreciate diminutive language. Glory Girl is on a collision course, impact imminent.

Dropping Taylor, Lisa rolled under Glory Girl's attempt to take advantage of the situation. "Bugs, a little help please!" She screamed in desperation as the pink haired brat glowed gold while trying and failing to do a jumping kick strait out of a bad kung-fu movie. Deflecting the girl's poorly done attack with ease, she shoved the brat to the floor and kicked her in the gut wou-

Unknown cape has healed already.

Well fuck, that's no fai- Her thoughts were cut off as a bug covered heroine knocked the air out of her lungs and picked her up by her collar. Struggling to breath, frustrated at the monumental fuck up that the day had become, and feeling the beginnings of a Thinker headache, Lisa fired blindly into the swarming mass that held her. The two of them dropped into a painful heap as Glory Girl began to thrash and scream from the insects attacking her unprotected flesh. Unfortunately, the swarm was rapidly losing cohesion due to whatever Panacea had done and there was still a psychotic midget to deal with. Looking out the windows to see Grue being caught in containment foam only reinforced what she already knew; she needed to get Taylor and leave.

Turning to grab her teammate, she felt a hand wrap around the barrel of her gun. Looking down, Lisa cursed herself for pushing so hard to do this job. The pink haired girl's lips spread in a bloodthirsty grin and a light began to glow from beneath the brat's glove in a way that suggested Blaster powers. The pistol was wrenched from her fingers in a disarming move that seemed far too competent after the pathetic kick a few moments ago.

Cape possesses skill granting power like Uber.

Lisa barely had time to let the terror sink in before the tiny cape performed a martial arts flip on her, planted a heeled foot on her chest, and slowly twisted her arm. She screamed and struggled to break free, but her attacker didn't relent. When Taylor tried to use what was left of her swarm to help, a blizzard erupted around the psychopath and Lisa screamed even louder as blades of began to shred her skin.

How dare you speak of my mother, you lowly tramp! Even if... even if she... It doesn't matter, trash like you has no right to criticize anyone, much less a Vallière! Stop your screaming and take your punishment with grace, where is your pride?

Lisa might not have been able to focus on listening to the girl's words enough to understand them, but her power covered for her. Unfortunately, she wasn't really in a position to give in to those demands, since the pain was far too much to suffer in silence. Taking her continued screams as defiance, blizzard grew in intensity and to Lisa's horror, her vision began to fail as the sharp ice tore at her face.

--------------------------

Louise growled in annoyance as the Tattletale refused to stay silent. At least Amy was healing Vicky, leaving her free to deal with the trollop. It was a disgusting to think of how easily she'd been baited by the words of a common whore. Even if her m... Karin's betrayal was a sore point, losing her temper like that was shameful. How could she let a few words risk destroying the little progress she'd made. It hadn't even been long since the last set back and already it seemed she might need to restart.

She couldn't help but laugh when Armsmaster, despite his weakened and battered state, shot a flail from his obviously enchanted halberd and knocked the shambling bug-controller back down before she managed to escape. Looking at Amy as she slowly healed her sister's wounds, the youngest Vallière felt the blonde thief go limp and giggled. It was kind of hilarious how all the people were splayed out on the floor, like when Cattleya beat Espinoza and his friends at their 'alcohol championship event'. Why the man needed to dress it up as anything other than the idiotic drinking game it was, she didn't know, but she suspected the idiot thought she was too young for such things.

As if a noble heiress would be allowed to avoid any social event just because of a simple beverage. She almost giggled at the thought, letting the frostbitten arm drop from her hands and dismissing her Frost Cloak now that the armored girl seemed to have given up on using her bugs. Stepping off of the blonde, Louise dusted herself off and tried to appear presentable... though the massive new bloodstain and small hole in her dress made such efforts futile. Watching the camouflaged woman lead a group of black armored figures toward the building and the pinkette wondered what to do now, this would surely bring a lot of attention down on her.
