Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

...I am beginning to greatly dislike the voters of In Memoire the White...
Of ALL the options presented, it is the one we will most certainly be able to take up later.
Turn in for the Day - the most pointless one
Visit Doctor Alexandra's Team - watching the normal teammates get new weapons is nice, but in the end of the day it's the MGs of your side who are going to matter more in the coming days.
Visit The Magical Girls On Base - a nice option, but it's more of an activity for when we don't have two entire missions to de-compress after
Visit a Friend - also a great option, but just the same, it's not close enough to home

Librum Of A Star - asking questions of Lucky is nice - but unless there's something really pressing we just don't know enough what exactly to ask...
I mean, the only question an MG or another practitioner should really be asking - is how to develop a way to get Omni-Caster or Multi-Caster as either a personal skill or a weapon-related skill where appropriate. And it's more or less pointless for us because we have Calamity Circuit.

Finally, the points of contention.

1)Visit the Command Tent - I have presented my opinion previously. We really do need to learn the overall state of War and the particulars of the missions. I prefer to get this before we're locked infor two sessions of training while there's hot sudden hot spots at our doorstep, is that too much to ask?

[] Visit the Command Tent
-No more missions for the day, but you're curious about how the War is going. (Gain information about the Eternal War's current state, future missions, or even the effects of what certain missions might have.)

2) No Rest For The Wicked - the second-most bandwagoned option. I don't mind it, in fact I desire it. Nepgear needs her closure, and White Knight is also hurting.

[] No Rest For The Wicked
-The aftermath of The Traitor's betrayal is still being cleaned up. As it stands, Truth's body isn't even in the ground yet, though her funeral has already been planned. But what about everyone else that had been at her last get together? (Unilaterally visit White Knight to see how she's doing.)

3) In Memoire - The White - THE most bandwagoned option in this update... WHY? San Mitsubishi is A GODDESS that is most likely to survive till the end of war. She lives in Rei's tent, as do we. She isn't going anywhere - and she is the most readily available option. We can easily take her up in the morning. It harms nothing in our long-term plans to delay it for the morning - unlike visiting the command tent.

[] In Memoire - The White
-You know Rei rather well now, but San is still mostly a mystery to you. Yet... something is pulling you to her. To learn. (Visit San Mitsubishi directly and hear more of her story. Possibly unlocking more of her character sheet.)

4) The Story of Peace - One of a kind, Drives-and-Cores-related event? Sign me the fuck up!!!

[] The Story of Peace
-Sega's doing her crazy thing again. Though, with the fact Alexandria is alive again, Revolution will likely want to know that her friend is back. (Follow Sega on her rampage to find Rev to tell her the good news.)
Have you people heard nothing of "opportunity cost"?

1) If we don't take In Memoire - The White right now - San will still be there in the morning (read - next update) to take up. She lives in the same place Nepgear, Sega and Rei do!
2) If we don't take Visit The Command Tent right now - we will still be able to do so in the morning, but we will not have the information to optimize our morning actions vote.
3) If we don't take The Story of Peace right now - we will miss the one-time opportunity of taking it and bonding with other Fragments of [PEACE]. This, in turn, can delay our activation of Progenitor Frame (which is another of necessary things to unlock Shop Items). And, it runs the risk of us delaying Sega getting INDESTRUCTIBLE FRAME.
4) If we don't take No Rest For The Wicked right now - we might still get this option in the morning to take up. But it leaves emotional hangups of both Nepgear and White Knight unaddressed, and I think it's not something we want.

And the worst of all - the way voting goes as it does right now, the ones we are risking missing are either Visit The Command Tent (and we have less strategic information to base our future choices on), or The Story of Peace (the ONE option that we can only take RIGHT NOW and that is vitally important to us).

you're being a bit hyperbolic there buddy, might wanna doublecheck the tally. Sure Command Tent is 4th, but peace is the second most voted option. And we can do without command tent more than peace, so I'm happy.

For me, the reason for doing the Goddess White option now is that I'm just honestly really curious about it and it's clearly important to the big picture since its name is nearly identical to one of our hidden Shop items, a Shop item that I highly suspect is related to the Progenitor Frame.

I actually did vote to visit the command tent, simply because I'd like for our morning plans to get made with that info in mind.

Right now I have a vote for the Truth stuff, but that's just a placeholder until I decide which MGs (and Gaia) to visit.

So,
Quest Update + Ni and Ichi scene finding no one =Happy Lord Marshal
Happy Lord Marshal --->Happy Rant (As i "promised")
Therefore, here it comes the first hopeful rant! Much more experimental(Not a study of a character, but what effect a particular action have on many people) and as always i could be wrong, especially with this one.

Of course , question corner!
@Crystalwatcher
Three questions.
1)Who would the Counter Force pair with White Soul to control her(In case she survives of course)? Gold/White is to important to use as a leash and few people can be a danger to White Soul in case she decided to go cray-cray again.
2)How much of White Soul actions in the catacomb were thanks to the command seals?(To explain better, how much different White Soul would have acted without the command seal?)EDIT: Wait...did i already ask this? i truly don't remember...if so sorry.:ninja:
3) It's still possible for use to find out why White Soul went crazy-er than normal? She doesn't really seems type to share.

As always, sorry for any grammatical error or formatting errors in the rant...doing my best:cry:

Team Gear - The Oath of the Unworthy
The Miracle denied to the common, taken by force by ones that should have died.
A rant by Lord Marshal of the consequences that Team GEAR survival had to morale of the Counter Force
N.B As always this is all my opinion and so on, you know the drill.
This world is without a doubt a world of miracles.
Empires were made by miracles, saved by miracles and destroyed by miracles.
Living beings whose mere existence denied the whims of fate didn't simply exist, but fought and lead their lesser, giving hope where common sense said there was none.
Gabriel is one of such beings: a mere false angels, a counterfeit made of prayers that should have folded like paper when confronted by the harshness of the real world.
A world that didn't listen to prayers.
But she did.
She took the world and broke it's rules, not once or twice, but as many times as it was necessary.
But she was not alone, hundreds...no, thousands upon thousands of such beings exist or have existed in this everlasting war, defying fate itself.
Red Rose, The Goddesses, Gabriel, Sixth Heaven, The Dark Lord.....Solid Core.
Magical Girls and strong demons for more tame examples.
You can't plan around them, you can't fight them.
They exist, and brings with them situations that normal people can't even imagine, even less create.
Miracles in short.
...
But even in such a world, not everyone can wield such powers.
Especially humankind.
This the is the price humankind paid for the Magical Girls, capable of matching and surpassing the greatest of Unified Light and Unified Darkness.
A world were the ones that can wield miracles are powerful, but the common people that can only watch, knowing that such feats are impossible for them.
This is the reality of the Counter Force, the reality that any human soldier feel in their skins and bones.
A human soldier cannot grow behind his limits without technology, and human technology cannot help his soldiers to attain miracles.
But what does it means?
In short it means that Humans soldier are powerless.
Not in practical sense of course: Humans are powerful with their technology and tactics, albeit few in numbers.
But every human know painfully that they cannot do more.
Their will, their fury, will amount to nothing more than they bullets they fire.
They cannot bring forth a miracle, for only the chosen ones like Magical Girls can realize the impossible.
Isn't it frustrating?
Not only for them, but for all the other races that simply cannot grow to that point, destined to simply die in front of the ones that can.
But this is simply the reality, and nor jealousy nor rage will change the situation.
Therefore the only things to do is to die bravely, knowing that somewhere, other such monsters are on your side.
This is without a doubt that everyone in the UL thought.
"A normal person, be it fairy of human or elf, simply cannot defeat those monsters"
Frustration becomes desperation, desperation becomes sadness, and sadness becomes acceptance.
Acceptance of the inherent limits that not everyone can surpass.
And so the soldiers of the Unified Light fought and die, saved by miracles and killed by miracles.

Until now.
Until team GEAR.
Until people that by all means should have died survived against impossible odds.
This isn't big, it's simply impossible.
No human should survive a monster like Goddess Grey, or Red or White or Maidens or the numerous monsters they fought and defeated.
But they did.
Team GEAR showed the world the most fundamental truth of current the battlefield is false.
Monsters can be beaten, not with sheer number or other monster, by simple brave souls.
Miracles can be brought forth even by the common people, by humans soldiers without magic, by newborn Angels and fairies and elves.
And now words are traveling, like an hurricane, from person to person, carving a single message in every soldier of the UL, making their owns souls tremble.

You can win.
You! Common person without powers, can win against such monsters!
Bring forth a miracle with your own two hands!
You don't need to be Gabriel! You don't need to be a Magical Girl!
Fight! Win! Don't surrender to them, because as small as it is, you.have.a.chance.

What will happen when the Old Guard will return to the battlefield, and the newest victory of team GEAR will be known to everyone?
Team GEAR did something more important than any victory they could achieve, they killed the myth of the "untouchable monsters" in imagination of the UL rank and files.
Not for much of course.
Sooner of later the reality of war will return, squashing this newfound hope of the common people.
But with team GEAR winning battle after battle, and the final confrontation in sight....
The second battle of hope won't find legions of resigned soldiers, that believe from the bottom of theirs heart that miracles aren't something they can reach, that the champions of the UD will kill them without fail if it weren't for their own champions.
They will find a legion of soldier ready to fight, tooth and nail, against fate, against common sense, against those invincible monster that people call "Heroes" or "Champions".

Maybe other people, lesser people, would not.
If front of such minuscule chance, that would realistically never apply to them, they would still surrender to despair and lose hope.
They are not team GEAR, and dying with a false hope is much more painful.
But the soldier of the UL are not lesser men or women.
They stand at the precipice of darkness, after an everlasting war and so many losses that did break heroes and champions.
And they fight, weary as they are, hurts as they are.
Rome didn't stop them.
Hope didn't stop them.
Rexulus didn't stop them.
As painful as it is to hope, they will take the hope that Team GEAR showed them and will use it.
Because isn't exactly what they did until now? Fighting a losing war with the faith that their sacrifice it's not meaningless?
And...
You know....sometimes, to kill a monster, the only thing you need is a person that doesn't surrender to despair, that fight even against the impossible with a single thought on his mind.

I can do it.
I can win.
Even against Gods.

---------------------------------------------------

Yes, they are augmented by the Solid Core, but people don't know that, and surely the UL is smart enough to recognize propaganda material:whistle:
No, a normal soldier will never defeat someone like Grey, but there are many people between "normal person" and "Ichi Mitsubishi".
Those Dark Magical Girl can, with luck, skill and circumstances, be defeated by a simple soldier that instead of dying decide to reach for the impossible.(And dozens of dead soldiers and destroyed tanks, but let's not sweat the details:whistle::whistle:)
Or a soldier that instead of letting a Magical Girl do her job, help her at the crucial moment.
Maybe, or i'm completely wrong and there is still nothing that can be done against the low-level champions of the UD.

What are you talking about? The morning actions will be training no matter what.
Definitely some at least, but maybe not all. Remember that Morning contains 5 total actions and each Training option uses up two of them. Also, some training options are really hard to justify IC until we have a longer chat with Insight.

She told us that we should look into the Connection we gave our Team, but it's a bit difficult to plan a full training action around it since the wording suggests she's talking about Lesser Gods, which is not something that we should do just anywhere and might not even be fully accessible until after we use the Progenitor Frame once.

If she was instead referring to Fractal Synchronization, she definitely didn't say enough for Nepgear to know how to practice it.

For that reason, I was thinking something like this.
  • Tonight: Command Tent plus two out of three between of Memorie, Rest for the Wicked, and Meet MGs.
  • Tomorrow Morning: Meet With Friends (ask Rei what to do when Ichi tries to kill us; find out more details about Abilities from Insight), Train Starshine, and Train Fractal Synchronization and/or Lesser Gods.
  • Tomorrow Evening: The Pale Light of The Moon (Operation: Artemis), another TBD mission, and 1-3 TBD base actions (depending how long the missions take). Not necessarily in that order. Whichever Tonight option didn't get picked should go here.
Does that plan look reasonable to you?

Almost forgot.
This is my vote.
Let's take this next update to know more of the people we are with, and tomorrow will go training from hell/Take new weapons for GEAR(remember how taking the upgrades for the team saved our more squishy members?)/Talking with Lucky to create new spells and so on.
Reasoning is simple.
More stable Nepgear is more efficient while doing those things, and we have more time to think how to maximize our "training" choices.

Does that plan look reasonable to you?
Eh, I am actually in favour of taking the Sega-event today because we still need the second trigger for IFrame.

Command Tent and San's event can both be exchanged back and forth between this evening and the next morning, but I am more in favour of doing fluff things now and more work-like things the next day.

Training Starshine is what I am all for as well; we do not even need the Purifier Beam if Nepgear can basically substitute all her basic attacks with the Spell. Fractal Synchronisation... sounds like a good idea, too, although we could make it a joint training exercise altogether.

Lesser Gods does not work, though. I remember a post from... Lost, I think, stating that no one is aware of the Progenitor Golems at the moment; that is why Team GEAR can not manifest them right now.

Aside from the above points, I do agree with you.

In this most recent update, Insight told us that we should take another look at Core Connection. Lesser Gods replaced that. Still not sure if using Lesser Gods is even possible before the Progenitor Frame debuts though.

Also, I meant talking to Insight before doing the Training.

Main reason I'm against that one is that it doesn't seem like one of the conditions for Indestructible Frame (especially since we can probably get a good portion of that option by just visiting Uni) and I already got my fill of that conversation from your omake.
*raises eyebrow at action economy*
*double checks something*
...Right. Excuse me I have to go fix some things.
Which type of fix? Nerf or rebuilding plans?

[X] No Rest For The Wicked

I'm tempted by the command tent, but it's available in the morning and the one it would displace is not in memoire, so I'm not going to vote for it.

It just occurred to me that "training takes more time and commitment than fighting multiple legions of hell" is kinda stupid. Missions aren't really supposed to be something breezed through in 15 minutes, unless they're appropriately minor.

Yes, I found that odd too.

I see that our first mission vote was in Finality Drive, but I can't tell what day or time of day that was. We did both that and Soul Collector and have 3 actions remaining for the evening.

From the sound of things, we started our first mission part way through our Morning actions and finished our second mission part way through our Evening actions. So like 2-3 actions per mission, including transit time.

It makes sense for Training to take more time than stuff like going around talking to people, but they shouldn't take as much time as a full mission.

Having full missions take 3+ actions by default would be a bit excessive on the balance front though.

We got the last one from talking to Sega about how strong a defense Ana actually has.
This might as well be another conversation on the topic, seeing that "tanked Juggernaut Drive" will definitely come up. So it might give us the second trigger.

I would think that the two conditions would be different. That logic strikes me more as a "this would have been a second chance to meet that condition".

But what else would the second condition be?

IFrame is explicitely "can take more damage than before", so... I honestly can not see any other event we would need that we did not already have during Soul Collector.

It's not what we need, but rather what Sega needs.

The remaining trigger could even be something like learning that ICORE can save us from death, giving her a reaction of "I want that too".

That makes little sense, seeing that ICore already saves Ana from death each and every time something hits her. The "get out of death free" card would make little difference in that regard.

She already wants her IFrame... so I am going to go for each and every event with Sega, simply because each one could have the second trigger and none of us has any good ideas for what it might be. Having someone aside from Ana to stand between the squishies and tons of damage is a priority either way.

If I recall correctly, the previous statement about mission duration was "it takes 1 or 2 actions".

Here, found the WOG:
Nepgear isn't anywhere near that good a shot.

It starts at 10.

1 or 2 actions lost depending on the mission taken and how long it is. Starborn took only one action, but you guys started low because Nepgear decided to go on a mission in the middle of the day.

I'll be keeping the number of actions each mission is going to take away a secret in order to hide how long the mission will be. (In terms of updates anyway.)

Dunno how you check, but my "by-line" tally gives me 20 votes on White, 15 votes on Peace, 17 votes on Wicked and 11 votes on Tent.

And there were 3 people voting White-Peace-Wicked in the interim, so it checks out.

Which is honestly... giving me despair. It means I need to convince upwards of 6 people to shift their votes from Memorie of White and of 4 of them, to invest it into Tent... Better yet, 5 into Tent and 1 into Peace.

Don't they though?

Fitting Starborn and Soul Collector into the 10-actions-per-day bit you could do something like:
1 reactivate after Truth-related breakdown
3 Starborn
3 Soul Collector
3 remaining
