Can an effect such as Disintegrate or Burn be falsely upgraded to a higher tier version of itself by combining it with a Collateral Damage variant when targeting a Giant Enemy?
Considering what the upgraded forms of those are? Probably not.
Sega:Well, improve the effect in some way. Lighting a lot of the body on fire instead of only a small section of the body.
"Actually, this would be possible, but only in very specific circumstances. The easiest being an elemental weakness to the corresponding attack. Otherwise the percentile is more like the amount of the body that the super-magic-burn actually sticks through the enemy's magical resistances."
Anastasia:eh. How fancy can you get with celestial severance. As I understand it's a 2 d plane of murderous fuck you. Can you use the flat? Can you thrusts?
And you charge telegraph bisecting juugernaut only to juke and rotate to slap the spear away to Cleve it?
Star shine is many many murderous bolts. Couldn't you exercise some trigger discipline and spray tiny bursts?
"Not very I'm afraid. Celestial Severance is an explosive increase to the cutting edge of the Panzer Blade, and the white pane you see trailing after it is closer to the aftershock of the spell's effect on space. The pane itself is dictated by the swing arc of the blade, because it's actually tracing the cut made in space. Which is also why anything that touches the pane while it' still around takes damage.
"If I attempted to 'smack' something away with Celestial Severance, the thing it hits will instead be cleaved apart. That's how sharp that leading edge is. To the point I could slice clean through a stronger power with it. Also, with a bit of practice in controlling the blade itself, I would also use the swing arc to inscribe an impassible barrier between myself and an incoming attack. Kind of like what Rei does with her Oblivion Shield thingy."
Sega:
"Not all spells have solely offensive functions. A bit of creative use could turn a strong, but limited offensive spell, into a wonderfully effective defensive spell as well."
