Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

There is the added benefit that it would give TSAB agents that are familiar with Bet culture.

That giving them an intelligent device will burn those powers out of them?
Not all of them would take a device if it means losing their power, but the Adepts is made up of non-parahuman members (I think?). They would be more potential mages that would likely accept a device.

[x] Yes – Epoch will call in 8.1, and you'll promise to help the Adepts when things calm down a little. You will keep your word, and I will force the issue if you don't do so quickly enough on your own.

More contacts, more influence. And more strength for humanity :)

You forgot that only installing a template burns out the parahuman power. Using magic doesn't lock out the parahuman powers. They just won't get S class cores without a template. Tim can build them an Inteligent Device (at least for those that can support the increased drain) or a Storage Device (for those with lower core ratings).
If we decide not to give the Storage Device back to TSAB we could use it as a training tool for the Adepts. At least until Tim can get some more devices built. Don't remember how many weeks until he will be free with our planned production capacity expansion plans. But the basic textbooks and a Storage Device to play with could keep them busy until then.

Actually it's Devices that burn out parahuman powers:
Parahumans can use magic if they have a Linker Core. They just can't use Devices (not without abandoning their shard powers, at least).

If y'all don't mind me asking, for those of you voting against Epoch, anyone feel like sharing why?

Just kinda curious, I really don't see the reasons and it doesn't really feel like anyone is talking about them...

I think at least part of it is so we can have more time to focus on other things, instead of basically locking in at least one of our time slots for the next arc before knowing what else is happening.

GM has stated that devices will lock out/sever the parahuman connection due to using the same 'wavelength' as the shards to interface with their users or some such.

TBH this is a good thing given the programed in need for conflict in parahumans.

My bad. That SW quote actually got mangled in my memory and replaced devices with templates. Don't know why. Still even giving them the primer books should keep them busy for some time. And some of them might decide that losing their parahuman power is a cheap enough price for the versatility of magic. And that doesn't take into account the prospect of template installation and gaining loyal minions:).

I don't have an opinion on it one way or the other - I think the story could be interesting in either direction - but it's quite possible people are voting against him because he's kind of a terrible person. Don't forget that he's a career criminal.

As you can surmise from my previous omakes (this one and that one) I already have an idea how magic might be disseminated. Adepts are a decent first step, now if only some people didn't nix scanning Vista back in the day... (stillslightlymiffedbutnohardfeelings)

Also, more specifically about Adepts. Keep in mind that while under leadership of Epoch they are mercenary slash villains... A number of their mages came from Protectorate members who figured out learning magic and spreading magic was more important than mere heroing. For them, magic was the ends, not the means.

More importantly, not only are they likely to be a semi-splinter group that is more interested in magic than in mercenary work... They are also a possible group that can and will spread magic because they believe spreading magic is better than not spreading it. And once they gain the possible means for it... Who knows where their final allegiance will fall.

Not to mention they can be an independent source of information on internal Protectorate workings. Even if we set up the meeting as a simple exchange of information, they might provide some insights.
