Oh hell yes.

As for Gaara...

I dunno, actually. We should let up on the self-sacrifice, though, unless we want Sasuke to explode in our face about it.

And so, Gaara is also non-canon. Nice. Also, I'm missing something: what hostages? And, a fourth option: gather all shinobi in the forest remaining, rest for a day, then attack Gaara's team as a united force. I am fairly sure that between all of leaf shinobi, and their summons and their allies, Sand team could be defeated.

[x] Dance Between Raindrops. This trait allow the user to more effectively evade the aim of their enemy, their speed confusing the targeting ability of their opponents even further.
I don't feel comfortable staying out here too long or trying to negotiate a multi-village alliance.

As is, we don't need to beat Gaara we just need to get past him.

As for the non-canonocity...maybe. Really, it makes sense when you think about it that Gaara would take advantage of the opportunity to kill anyone and everyone he wants without restrictions, as well as the fact they have to go to the tower.

"Yep, they're a couple of black-ops types the village assigned to do me in 'cause they had 'concerns for my loyalty'. Of course, had they not killed my mother out of greed and essentially straight up told me that they were going to do the same to me, I might be a bit more loyal. So since I have both scrolls, and my teammates are lying unconscious just a bit ahead, plus Hiroyuki's Earth scroll to your heaven, whatdya say we just head on straight to the tower as one big happy family?" Karin finished.

[x] It should be easy enough to occupy his attention for a short while. This will be safer to the hostages, but harder on you.

Gotta go fast

I am pushing for the enhanced defense option myself. One is pure speed and movement. The next is offense and the last is defense.

So, hypothetically, what's stopping us from buggering around Gaara instead of fighting him?

Distract him with trying to catch our absurdly fast shadow clone, and just slip in behind him while he's distracted, that sort of thing?

I'm not so sure. Team Seven has pretty much blitzed the exam so far. Orochimaru hit us all of ten minutes in, I highly doubt we fought him for more then twenty minutes, and then we ran to the tower. Odds are we are inside the four(?) hours it took the Sand Siblings to retrieve a scroll and enter the tower. They are probably just waiting for some team of schmucks to show up so they can murderize them for their scroll/s.

-but before she could stop speaking Karin interrupted her.

"My cousin when he gets a little angry? But yeah, that's a fucking demon host camping the tower. What'do we do, boss?" Karin said.

... Yeah, okay, the odds of Karin being a "SI", or having access to "SI information", just went up a lot.

We have an extra scroll, I believe. The issue is Gaara has his murderlust on. The best plan would be to genjutsu our way past him. He displayed no special resistance to genjutsu that I know about. Also, his ability to engage fliers is limited if he's not stronger than he was as a child in canon. Now may be time for a rideable raven summon. Another plan is to blitz him as a group. We have an absurd number of ways to disrupt them including Uzumaki chains which should go right through his sand.

Well, if he has a brain then he'll know that people have to come past him eventually so there's no point in chasing someone away from his post.

[X] Have Naruto make 6 clones and Henge them to look like the group. Instruct them to head in that direction and stall while the group circles around.

Gaara's sand needs to reach the target. Lee was able to evade it using pure physical speed even before he used the Gates.

The single best defense AND offense is being too fast for your enemy to either attack or defend against you. That applies even more to Gaara than to most. Our normal speed is Kage-level. Shunshin can make even a Genin vanish from sight. Shunshin Mastery allows us to use Shunshin in combat, and removes the straight-line-only restriction. Do the math.

The other two options are basically dodging Kunai/Shuriken really well, and the inferior version of Tsubame Gaeshi(2 cuts instead of 3). Far too specific, in my opinion. Only useable in particular scenarios. Shunshin Mastery is useable all the time, and it's kinda hard for your enemy to throw projectiles at you when you can effectively pull a Bankai Ichigo and move fast enough to make it look like there's twenty of you. Tsubame Gaeshi 1.0a will only work once you reach your target, and it is by no means undodgeable.

So, basically, Shunshin Mastery is the single best option here, I think, and it should aid us greatly against Gaara.

I completely agree. I do think it's downside, Shunshin costs 0.3 Chakra at our control level per use, does need nothing though. That isn't much but it will increase Hisana's average Chakra expenditure per second.

Of course given how useful it is odds are we'll actually spend less Chakra per battle since the massive speed boost should see a notably decrease in battle duration.
