So what do you think it was like for Rumfords former coworkers? You see someone get dishonorably discharged for being a disgraceful dickbag, only to watch them destroy the country you were sworn to defend.
 
Well, given how much of a self-entitled egotistical vengeful little shit he was, it was probably most prudent to hide in the wilderness and never show your face ever again, especially if he had (or felt he had) a personal grudge against you.

Do you all really think that Rumford did not have complete faith that every enlisted (male) marine secretly envied and worshiped him for having the moral courage and fortitude to speak the "truth"?

He would have graciously, if patronizingly, welcomed each and every one with open arms.

His only question to be what did he specifically do to free them from being held hostage by Cultural Marxist state.

What I want to know is how the soup letters agencies felt when the downfall of the USA wasn't causes by neither antifa (the non-existent, radical leftist terrorist group), nor a historically oppressed minority but by a white supremacist movement.

Imagine this: You have spent your whole career infiltrating groups like the Black Panthers or CPUSA and, suddenly, a "rural", middle-class, bourgeois declares independence in New England with popular support and international recognition (thanks to Russia). Heads must have rolled that day.​

Actually I think Rumford and his militia have nithing to do with it, the US kinda collapse on it's own and Russia make sure none ofbthe other suscessor states besides Victoria would be abke to reunify the country.

There are three factors that cause the fall of the USA (in this quest):​
  1. Weimar levels of inflation. In 2021 Trump does something really stupid, to the point that it causes a catastrophic economic crisis. In the original book, Lind explains that the economy goes to hell because of "stagflation" (and inmigrants) but doesn't bother to do any proper research on economics so his explanation is basically nonsense, thus, the QM created a more plausible explanation (a very bad political decision). The US is the beating heart of the global economy so this means that half the world also goes to hell thanks to the obliteration of the american economy.​
  2. The new, and much improved, Russian Tsardom. Russia collapsed earlier than the rest of the world and, as such, had a head start on solving their problems. Enter "Father" Dimitri, a "preacher of the orthodox church", that happens to have good enough contacts in the Russian Tsardom to provide tanks to the Christian Marines (Rumford's terrorist cell). Between 2027-2032, the Christians Marines run a terror campaing to achieve New England's independence.​
  3. A kid with a test tube. According to Victoria, a kid in New Orleans was capable of engineering a plague in his parents' basement with a science lab kit for kids and the plague later expanded (because of a lax quarentine) to the rest of the country. In truth, an epidemy did happen (though it was not caused by a child) but it didn't go beyond the american south thanks to a strict quarentine. This plague caused a total loss of faith in the federal government thus causing a new wave of secessionism in 2033 (directly inspired by Rumford and fuelled by the Okhrana).​
The Christian Marines were a key factor on dismantling the US, even if they were a key factor only because of russian backing.​

Yeah, but as soon as you say anything that harshes his vibes, he's at least privately fantasizing about having you publicly stoned to death or something and thinking that your death throes would be funny as hell.

He's not a guy you want to get close to if you can help it. And if you knew him when he was your commanding officer or something, you really would know that.

Given the actual scale of disruption involved, I suspect it would have needed to be something deadlier than COVID, though not necessarily a lot deadlier.

If it were nasty and transmissible enough, like the 1918 flu, sure. Although I'm hesitant to call it flu, simply because "invent new flu vaccines" is more or less a solved problem. It's hard to imagine a flu pandemic ravaging the nation by itself unless the medical and economic infrastructure had already completely shut down.

First having lived through COVID why would you think there would be any form of effective response to a mutated bird flu? Also it's a epidemic that ran roughshod over the South and only stopped in the border states, and the South isn't well known for it's functional medical or economic infrastructure. Now add in that Bird Flu already infects people through tainted poultry and eggs. And the fact that the south eats the most poultry and eggs in the US because they're cheap and the South is dirt-poor. Then toss in the the whole lowest rate of vaccination in the country and a sub-tropical climate and well you get the straw that breaks the camel's back.
 
Look it was a epidemic of a nondescript disease and let's all agree to that, the details are less important than the fact it cause a loss of faith in the Federal Goverment.

Because the US already had, prior to 2020, the infrastructure to rapidly prototype new flu vaccines and disseminate them. Private companies were just doing it on the regular as i understand it.

Creating a new vaccine that was very different and had a special handling cold chain was quite another matter, and that's what COVID required.

Hey not sure if when the next update arrives but I have a question. What is the opinion of the Vatican and the pope amd other Christians on Victoria ? (My head canon is that the Christians are daily praying for Victoria to fall)

Yes, but victoria is the slave centre of the world and claims to unite Christianity. I have no doubt that when victoria finally falls, not only will the American diaspora celebrate, but also some of Christians (orthodox, catholic) and other groups and governments will celebrate too.
