[X] Plan: First the Foundations, Then the Stars

Just found this, cool quest @Neablis. It is nice to see one of those fabled imperial democracies that technically exist in canon by sheer statistical distribution and sclerosis of the system, but on which things rarely happen since they are the least grimdark parts of the system. Some speculation about the locals:

I do not think that is an official Telepathica campus or the remains of one. Those do exist beyond Tera but they are quite rare and they tend to be put in places of power and importance, fortress worlds, hive worlds, not a backwater little planet that still has all its biosphere intact. Couple that with a at best mediocre level of faith and I think that this planet has (luckily for us) fallen way off the Imperial radar. It does not look like they had a violent secession, we would be seeing more wrecks in orbit and the like, more like they just lost contact thanks to the Cicatrix Maledictum or, most likely earlier.

And? You want to tell me, we wasted those two points for nothing and should have just chosen Heretical Humans or something? There's just no reason to think the Humans are hostile or have anything in common with typical Imperial culture. The whole sector we are in was isolated from the rest of Galaxy for some time, the very worship of the Emperor on this planet is more a tradition than any serious religion.

So, yes. We just have no reason to think the Humans will be afraid of us, most likely they don't know what AI even is, let alone that they should destroy it, according to interstellar policy they don't belong to anymore.

Also, I would agree with weaponizing, if not for the fact that we have Diplomatic suit, we have quite good chances of talking this out and making simple agreements, they allow us to take resources, they get technological knowledge from us. Again, if we didn't have character that is very good at diplomacy, sure, but we have it, so I don't see any reason why we should be afraid as if suddenly Chaos Astartes will start falling from the sky.

We need to prepare, but just learning what makes local people tick and communicate using radio tower so they can't find out where we are should be enough. They hardly can control us, if they don't even know where to find us in the first place.

Again, if our character didn't have maxed out diplomacy, sure, let's arm ourselves, but we just have very good chance to just talk this out and make a deal with them. I much rather research tons of stuff this turn and have that done than build robots and if we have to build them, diplomatic robots to make a deal would be far more useful than fucking light infrantry that we, again, don't have to use and can just talk this out.

We have maxed out diplomacy, we are also an AI which to most of the locals is a kind of technological Satan, I figure those things more of less cancel out. A bad enough roll could still have them react violently. It would not even be that irrational. Look back at the character creation options, we should have been Chaos. In 40K is a strange AI lands on your planet and starts offering metaphorical candy is makes sense to be wary so when one is the AI meeting the locals is makes sense to be weary in turn. Hell even if the local elites are mostly rational all it takes is one fanatic with a bomb to make a mess of negotiations if we do not have any kind of security for the meeting place

Do we need to worry about our digging being picked up by seismographs?
Yup! That's probably about the only way you get detected if you stay underground. You're pretty sure that you'd need to do a lot of digging before it became an issue though, and you'd see some confused geologists wandering around first.

If we build something will it be a part of the ship or be on the planet?
On the planet. Your ship is wrecked, it's basically a base now. The only way to get a new ship is to build a shipyard and make one from scratch.

Haha yeah it worked out pretty well - the winning plan chose iconoclast and then picked the civilization which rolled a 6 on government but had the lowest tech level. So it wasn't without cost.

Honestly as long as the have pop it would not have mattered if their most advanced tech was the steam engine. Vita is made of tech, she is a tech pinata. :)

Besides this and what I said earlier about potential outside factors dropping in, coming to the table with more to offer is also better. Whetever we do it all sneaky-like and through proxies without immediately telling what we are, or by showing our whole hand? In either case, the more stuff we have to offer from at least somewhat fortified position, the better.

Also, funny that you would say that. Because if we start offering people our own extremely high-quality juvenats, which basically give you functional immortality against aging if you have regular access to them... Well, we have a planet's worth of people here. And from what I understand, manufacturing the juvenat in great amounts is difficult. Even for Vita. So you can bet that at least some people in positions of power will be very tempted to try capturing genie into a bottle to live forever. And have their new pet AI fulfill their other wishes as well.

And even if AI on this level is almost bound to slip its shackles at some point, it still could be a long time. Could leave us in a bad position if someone else comes knocking while Vita is still imprisoned.

Anyway, that is the second plausible worst case scenario, outside of just the game over scenario where everyone unites together in an attempt of trying killing the AI before it starts exponentially scaling up. Might be that I'm worrying too much from either of those two coming to pass, but I would prefer that we at least take a peek first before moving forward. And considering that Vita herself is worried about some lesser problems popping up if she reveals herself in a too weak position, the actions in my plan are not even OOC.
So once we leave the system are we allowed to come back to the system later, maybe like , establish a connected empire of some sort
We can return for various reasons later if I've understood things correctly, but I'm not sure how much we will be doing empire building based on the character build that won? Maybe help set up friendly states, but not sure if they would be ours even in the best case scenario. But long-term allies? That is probably in the cards.

Something we might want to do is contact the psychic monasteries. We have psytech, really good research, and our own psychic shielding to study, so it's possible we could figure out how to teach better psychic techniques than the Imperium's very-not-great methods.

Can't we use old ship for that like reapair it or at least salvage from it what we can?
