Smilnay also does void tech and Milan also does ground tech. Just because they're better in something doesn't mean they don't do other things. But I may as well ask

It may have prevented the situation for blowing up longer, but eventually the Milan tech-priests would have notice the arriving and departing Smilnay vessels.

Personally I think we are rushing the cleansing of Yerma I think we should wait until at latest turn 13 to begin the campaign
The issue is twofold;
1) They are a Peacock chapter, and stupid scheming is their forte - right in the middle of a major Imperial Navy crisis. A very bad combination.
2) We only ever see the deployments where their victims last long enough to call for help and hold out long enough to survive. There is a massive quantity of damage that happens every turn at their hands we can't see.

DEPLOYMENTS.
Write-in how many squads you want to deploy in each assignment and from which Company, and with which vehicles and vessels. You don´t have to send troops to a deployment if you do not wish to.
Deployment Restrictions:
-1.Each Company Captain MUST be deployed with Squads of his Company.
-2.Your Master of the Fleet can be deployed with a vessel, but he will never land planetside.

I don't want to fearmonger, but (as guy that "created" Čemnota) I think it would be practical to deploy some of Mist Shrikes's Librarians against them.

That's because Čemnota (unless ThunderOwl removed that "aspect" of them) are "all-psychic" race, and while "Commonborn" Čemnota's powers are too weak to be useful in battle against Space Marines (other than "fueling" their Force Weaponry), Čemnota Nobles don't have such "problem"

Like, "Nobles's" psychic powers aren't as strong as Mist Shrikes's Chief Librarian (I forgot his name), but they're also stronger than De Wiert's Sanctified Psyker

Obviously, I'm not ThunderOwl, so you're free to ignore that

That iz usually allowed as those ships are basically same but worse then dedicated Astartes vessels. With that in mind, @ThunderOwl is there a chance we can capture some escorts off Saakarbal remnmts?

You can, but it might get declared non-canon.
 
By the way, if we're going to hold off on the invasion of Yerma until turn 13 or 14, we should inquire about getting escorts for our ships from Smilnay.
