-[X] Write in chapter creed. (Optional).: "Lives are emperor's currency, hoard them well"
-[X] Librarians: The Chapter's Librarians are particularly well trained, and have far greater resistance to the temptations of the warp. They are far less likely to fall to Perils of the Warp, and offer more potent psychic support.
-[X] Apothecaries: This chapter has extra Apothecaries among its ranks, greatly improving the health of the Chapter overall and raising the odds of Marines surviving severe injuries.
-[X] Techmarines: This chapter has more Techmarines in its ranks than normal, improving the quality of their equipment and allowing them to create a greater quantity of advanced wargear.
-[X] Extra Dreadnaughts: The Chapter has more Dreadnought hulls than normal, letting it field more of the venerable ancients… if it has enough wounded veterans to pilot them, of course.

[X] Plan: The Golden Sons.

Feels like a huge absolute waste to not go with blade master since it would push it to legendary skills and likely combo with the psyker powers. Also artillery mastery seems ridiculously redundant considering that a chapter of powerful pskyers can act in a similar role with how destructive normal human psykers can be.

That is not their main focus. I see blade master as flavour stuff at least. Not something they need. And who said it won't help with their psyker powers? Especially if it involves psy-tech.

Neither is artillery but the difference is that we have word of QM that doubling up on a skill we rolled pushes said skills into something like legendary skills. And it seems like our guys benefit a lot more from legendary skills than mundane skills. Especially if they synergies with other skills.

And no, it's not just fluff stuff since they do give mechanical benefits as well. Heck, the Primarchs are great examples of how things like sword skills can let them kill things that could wipe out entire armies using artillery.

Also the psy tech stuff is a horrible argument since we don't know what we are getting. It could be entirely non combat stuff.

[X] Plan: SWORD, STEEL, SORCERY! (Dreadnought Version)

As I said, don't think our guys would actually benefit much from artillery compared to actual legendary skills. Especially since it seems pretty redundant for a chapter whose powers can already act as artillery by themselves.

The main point is...that blade mastery is not needed, especially when priority of the Chapter, is protecting the tech that was given by Custodes by request of the Emperor of Mankind. So, we are not going to seek fighting, we are making sure we can protect that tech so it won't get into hands of Chaos. Crucible Throne from the name alone gives us idea what it could be, we are not 100% sure what it does, but it is important given that main gene-line needed to be Thousand Sons.

I imagine if we didn't get a trait about blades, you would not be pushing for Blade Mastery. I would agree with you if we didn't get a request and we created Thousand Sons/World Bearer chapter. But we did not.

I am repeating myself. WE are CREATING a Chapter which MAIN TASK is protecting Crucible Throne. The Chapter is not going after chaos, especially given they can't come close without being burned, be Radiance, Anethama Trair or Golden Flames.

That same exact argument applies to the artillery mastery. The point I was making there are other ways to defend a place beyond the conventional.

Heck the argument for picking art for the golden plan is that offense is also a good defense. Because this a setting that also runs on rule of cool. Again the goddamn Primarchs have shown that you could have guys kill enemies that could wipe out whole armies that happen to use nothing but artillery by themselves using just a sword as a weapon.

And these guys wouldn't be normal sword users since they could enhance themselves with psyker powers. And again ,they already act like living artillery due to having strong psychic powers.
