Out of all Ling Qi's spirits, only Hanyi has the same Drain capability as her, and I want to enhance that. It used to be that they had the same dodge/dispersal ability, but that got coopted by Sixiang along with the ally boosts that Joyous Toast gives.

I want to keep Hanyi's focus as a glass cannon. Ling Qi became a mostly Dodge Tank, Zhengui is an Off Tank, Sixiang is a Control/Support who just doesn't get damaged for the most part. I want to make Hanyi still relevant to the party by not just having her role be the same as the others. She's the only glass cannon who uses a single target lures and drains, so I want that emphasized instead of minimizing the risks of glass cannons.

Hanyi, from what I remember of her previous combat performances, does like to kill things.

Singing first, then choreography. The other way around is the forbidden Path of Lip-Synching, as developed by the renegade artist Milli Vanilli.

...huh, now I have a weird Omake AU idea, actually.

Did we ever get any idea of how much potential Ling Qinqqe had, when she was younger before it all faded away? Talent or whatnot? Obviously it's decayed now, but I'm kinda curious.
We don't know exactly how much. Likely decent since both of her daughters have good talent but almost certainly not as much as Qi, Qi was showing supernatural signs from the beginning with her wind affinity constantly messing with her hair and her ability to hear spirits. Biyu can also hear spirit whispering, so maybe qingge was around that level? Would have been a good talent if tested, perhaps one of the reasons she attracted the attention of the young Master of the liu?

Got it, just had an idea for a silly idea where Baron Ling Qinqqe, eighteen, finds herself in some sort of time warp/weird portal situation where she meets a cultivator a stage or two above her in Green who bafflingly seems to know her and is just as baffled to meet her.

Ling Qinqqe as a brash teenage Horse Girl (TM), who knows manners and rules from the servant's upbringing but largely tries to ignore them and instead does battle against bandits and outlaws on (Bound Spirit) Horseback with bow and lance alike.

Which would be a fucking head-trip for Ling Qi to meet.

Since war arc is about to start, maybe we should give her some more offense since we should have her covered on the defense.
I will say outright that the main concern here is picking what direction Hanyi's last prewar upgrade will be. Apologies for the somewhat awkward framing.
I was just thinking Hanyi needs more fire power. Lets do this!

That'd be hilarious! Would love to read that!

Question, is Beast King's Savage dirge a "normal" Art? Like, as in, where did Ling Qi get it? How common-ish is it, etc?

I'm just asking for omake/reaction purposes, trying to think of a few things.

BKSD was an Art we got from the Cai library, given to us here:
Beast Kings' Savage Dirge
It is said in legend that as the power of the Horned Lord and the Diviner waxed, the the eight Beast Kings who remained came together in council of war and united to bring down the conqueror once and for all. Their footfalls shook the earth and their savagery shook the skies, and though they were defeated in the end, echoes of that terrible march remained etched in the folklore of the Emerald Seas forever more. This art is part of a ballad said to have been composed for the last Weilu dukes, and though its origin is suspect, its power is not.

The Hui corpse immortal we killed also had his own version:
Ling Qi felt her stomach drop as the inkbrush in his hand blurred, tracing an intricate pattern in the air, and behind her an eagle screamed. Ling Qi dissolved into wind, but still felt a prick of pain as talons passed through her. In the distance, a wolf howled as she tumbled downward, and Ling Qi hit the ground in a roll, rising back into the air as the fangs of wolves tore at her dress.

A bear's paw the size of a house slammed down on her, and smashed her back to earth. Ling Qi tasted blood in her mouth as stone turned to powder under the impact, burying her in grit. And gentle birdsong began to waft through the air, drawing her qi out through her meridians.

She got it from the cai, who got it from the Bai. It's old enough that it's a high quality art but variations of it are not particularly rare, that hui we fought had a paint version of it. Since it's the founding myth in art form it's not exactly unique for all that it is potent.

Gotcha. Was actually thinking Ling Qinqqe might know it, not sure. I'm not exactly (yet) creating a full Art Library for her, just getting a vague general impression of who she is and isn't. Trying to think of someone where you can plausibly kinda see a familial resemblance, but not.

It's... not remarkable because plenty of people are defined by it IRL, but so much of who she was wound up buried by a decade and a half of trauma and suffering and betrayal. You can see pieces of it, her interest in travelers and odd sorts, her resistance to being bundled off that only belatedly does she regret, and now the Horse Girl backstory we never knew we needed... but, well.

Life was what it was.
