Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Have we gotten any insight into what Xuan Shi crafts that isn't protective stuff? Barriers or panic rooms or whatnot - I think the only other thing on screen was him working with stuff to make people more efficient? Crew enhancement effects.

Ok this chapter has some really excellent lines in it.

Rhetoric was a dangerous thing. It is difficult to argue a thing well and not come to believe it by inches.

So. True.

There have been a number of quotes I want to pull out of this story and rub in the faces of political actors and reporters. This may be the one I've felt most strongly about.

That was the trouble with multitudes. It was admitting your power was limited, your reach finite, that your will would never be absolute… and that was a contradiction toward the nature of Sovereignty.

I think this needs to be considered more deeply. It is possible to build a way that CANNOT take one into sovereignty; we know that this is actually true of most greens. So if we don't want to foreclose our own growth, or give ourselves heart demons, we need to be clear about what philosophical point we are willing to overrule every other existence in the world on.

If we don't have one, if our conclusion is that no point is worth over-riding the will of all others, then we aren't going to be sovereign.

If we pick a point that does not allow individual freedom for others, and free communication, we are going to heart demon HARD.

It's a narrow tightrope.

Somehow his expression made a laugh bubble up in her throat. She covered her mouth with her hand, tried to silence it, but it emerged anyway, her shoulders shaking. "Ah, I'm sorry, it's rude-I know you…"

He'd just shared his fears of rejection and…

"It is only a base beast, with a base beast's fears," Xuan Shi said, cracking a small smile himself.

This sums up their relationship best for me. With eachother, they can laugh and show vulnerability by failing to keep face. And they make eachother happy.

He did the pseudo-ship that it little brother served as the afterburners to under the mountain?

If he can build something that uses or references the Prince of High Garden I'd be tickled. Those two have almost as much history as we do.

[X] Ask him to craft something for the peace that came after

We're kind of already the most absurdly well equipped Baron in the Emerald Seas, and last time he gave us something like that it was immediately destroyed. That's not to say either of them regret trading his gauntlets for her safety, but I'd kind of like something more permanent this time you know?

I just want to see what he'd make.

Pack it up. It's over. There's no catching up to this from the others.
There's a new short king in town. The only way someone else even gets close is if yrsillar decides by author fiat that it's not going to be Xuan Shi.

[X] Ask him to craft something for the peace that came after

Edit: I'm still going to stay with the Ling Qi x Bao Qian ship to the very end.

This gives Xuan Shi the best way to display his skills and his intentions. It also offers longer term value to both people. Build for peace. Everything Ling Qi does is to bring peace.
