[X] The lesson of the roots

At the end of the day, we're going to the winning vote with Shu Yue, and so I feel like it'll be a more poignant narrative if we go the the Roots.

Firstly because they are more knowledgeable about the place and secondly because I want to see how Shu Yue reacts to the place.

I am also hoping we would make up with Sixiang by then, so that we can continue to explore their Nightmare side while we visit the roots. Remember, Sid's Nightmare side is all about breaking people and things, and that's exactly what we're going to witness the Hui do.

There's lots of potential there, on all 3 ends (Ling Qi development, Shu Yue lessons, Sixiang development).

It is a really hard choice, but I think I have to echo those who feel that going to the palace of one feels premature.

Understanding the roots before going to see the treetops just feels better.
This said, this is only a viable argument if we actually get a chance to see the "treetops" later, and is a gamble this way.

I love that this vote is literally Pokemon Black and White. Truth vs Ideals. I think we need to grapple with the dirty Truth before we muck around in the rot of Ideals.

Edit:
A harsher lesson now before the war feels narratively satisfying.
We've seen diplomacy succeed; let's see what happens when it fails/is not feasible.
I am writing this as someone who wish for the endquest to be Ling Qi's ascending and merging with Palace of One to became the 9th Moon, Singing Moon after she became the Duchesse of the High Garden (southern wall), same with Gan guangli and Unity of Blade to become 6th sun and Duke of the Great Rampart (northen wall), i know it's crazy but we can always dream.
It would be less merging and more redefining, but yeah that'd be awesome if probably unlikely end game.

[X] The lesson of the palace

While the idea of a surgical way breaking Ling qi is cool, I feel like the lesson of the palace, of hope and ideals and how it shapes others, is important for Ling Qi right after she did the Summit which was built on hope and ideals.

Also I don't think we are going to get options like these again, and I would regret missing out on the palace more than missing the roots. We know the horror of the Hui, what they became and how they ended, but we don't know much at all about how they started.

I want to understand this danger in setting more first. We'll need both but I feel the fanaticism danger is further off right now.

While we may have another chance to explore Palace of One, that is not guaranteed, and with such a relevant ascension to Ling Qi's way I would rather explore as soon as we have the chance instead of missing out and risk never checking it out.

Additionally the lesson seems like it will effect the abilities of Thief of Names, with the roots gaining us a purely offensive ability while palace's ability can be used as a weapon but has more versatility to it. I think we should take versatility over offense fort ToN
