You turn your head to look at the white-haired master, thinking for a moment. There was genuinely no real reason why she should in terms of the Grail War. And you didn't know her well enough to know if the fact that Shinji had just murdered a man would be enough. Regardless. "Please?" you offer.
Illya stares at you for a moment, then she grins broadly. "Okay!"
She is very forthcoming with favors, and it makes me want to do something for her. The war is a poor time for recreational activities, but it's a bit sad to only see your only family member about war, murder and other unpleasantries. As I don't see ourselves making casual visits to the castle, I hope Illya takes us up on the offer instead.
"Master that's…" Caster begins, then pauses, a perplexed expression on her face. "A fine plan actually."
...Not running fist first into a gaseous Servant? Not trying to solo a threat when there are seven other people in the party?
I understand her surprise.
"He was just a guy!" Shinji says through broken teeth.
You... haven't answered.
I don't think the answer would change your fate much. I think the Servant took part in the murder, definitely, seeing how the priest was killed by 'mustard gas', but did Shinji give the order, or did he merely rationalize his death away? Did he plan on it, or was it a happy opportunity when surrounded by superior forces? I can't help noticing how Shinji's and Rin's situation are paralleled in Shirou's mind. It's not looking good for Rin's chances.
Also, was there no plan for Shinji but to believe himself invincible when he went against four Masters at once? I thought something else went into it besides sheer spite, but he finds new ways to disappoint me, it seems. He killed himself for our mild discomfort at putting him out of his misery personally. Or -- narratively -- to jumpstart us on the new path.
Here's to the successor of the Magus Killer.
But more had died. And they would continue to die. And you didn't see what you could do about it. You had no path forward despite Raiga's threats.
The war will not wage itself. Now that stopping it is no longer in the cards, the next logical step would be to seek out Bad People (TM) and making them a little less bad. We have Circe's approval, even!
[] [Why me?]
Why choose me for training? And how?
Don't look a Greek gift horse in the mouth, Shirou. Who else was she supposed to train?
[] [That bow I used today]
Who did it belong to, really?
That's... a sensible line of questioning. Circe knows a lot about old artifacts and ancient heroes.
[] [Her thoughts on the situation.]
She spoke at length about… Mordred.
Normally I wouldn't care much about what Circe thinks, but I wonder why her thoughts turned that way in particular. Mordred is a locked asset due to her insanity; of course I want to
use her reliably find out more about her.
[] [Why… did she come onto you?]
I don't even want to know. Just stop.
