They sure as hell can't make everything they need near the Frontline quite a few clans are very overprotective of there stuff, like if I'm remembering correctly mad cats we only made in one mech factory by one clan that doesn't like to share them at all, and they still have to Garrison planets with people who they just expect to be fine being forced into a very restrictive and harsh caste system.
Clan grade industry can be packed up and moved, the ghost bears literally moved nearly their entire population(including civilians) and all of their industry(including all the clan grade battlemech assembly lines) into their invasion corridor over the course of a few years.
Only the Madcat or as it's actually called the Timberwolf is that closely guarded everything else is made by multiple clans or commenly traded between clans.

Moving it closer to the Frontline means that it's more vulnerable to being destroyed and the houses have shown repeatedly if anything that they love and are very effective at acting like a destructive Luddite.

this is a map of the innersphere and periphery in 3063

The clans if they want to could move a bunch of factories halfway to the innersphere say to Attenbrooks the innersphere still wouldnt have any idea where to even begin looking for years, the clans could put a garrison there, and it would half the time it would take for new parts, aerospace fighters vehicles and mechs to make it to the frontlines.

I can understand the IS given their direct neighbors of our Allies and rather close to us as well.

But I don't think it was ever explained to me on why so many people seemingly are so intent on fighting the Clans when they'll be attacking on the other side of the sphere from us? Like the logistical issues from just trying to get there to fight them is daunting let alone the fact we just finished a war with the Fedsuns. They'll be heavily disinclined to let us move troops through their territory(since they'll be the most direct route) to fight said clans given the hostile feelings between our nations. And even if they do let us through it will probably come with some heavy concessions; concessions we may not want to pay nor do we want to let them glean/steal any of our secrets if we do somehow move through there territory. Let alone opening ourselves up to any potential sabotage(just to weaken us) while in Fedsuns territory.

The most I can see us reasonable doing is providing some material support to Lyrans and maybe the Combine or economic support but even that's strained given we'll be busy with the former outback.

So is there some fact and or information I'm missing here involving the Clans? Will they be coming from a different direction closer to us or what?

Technology.

Now then, to elaborate. Who is the first person people will go to when clans and their big bad warships arrive?

That's right, us. Us with our even bigger and even badder warships. What's that? It's all the way on the other side of the galaxy? No worries. Those people asking for our help? Well, no way they're not gonna ask us to come over and not roll out the welcome wagon! Infrastructure for logistics, local sources for supplies, prime real estate for forward bases, you name it!

Now then, you ask, what's all this for? What's in it for us? Well, I'll tell ya! Clan tech!

No, not that omnitech shit, although I won't refuse it. I'm talking about the very thing that makes Clan mechs so fearsome! Not their omnimechs, no! I'm talking about their lower tonnage and less crit slot eating equipment and weapons!

It's why I posted an EMP VTOL powered by Petrusite, the Republic's best friend! Just zip on over, zap, roll the dice, and take home your prize!

Oh, and you get to pit your warships against the closest thing to a peer that we have. And get to show off.

That makes it clear to everyone I hope.

Edit: Also as Forgo says, mobile HPG's are excellent hardware for mobile interstellar warfare. It's the BT version of Mass Effect's Quantum Entanglement Communication. And having HPG tech in reserve is the solution to prevent a repeat of an enemy warship taking potshots at our WCC relays.

Edit2: Anyone else thinking of posting their own plan, please consider adding an action to contact Rasalhague. We don't know clans are coming in-universe but you can still use our previous attempt and the chance to contact another republic as a good excuse for it. Will make coordination regarding helping with the clan invasion easier later on.

Also, I wanna know what happened during the first attempt. Did someone fudge the email and send a dick pic by mistake or something? :V

-[X] New Oslo:
--[X] Brotherhood Decapitation Strike: With the Brotherhood of the Righteous riddled with Helghan agents and a thorough map of its planet-wide network sitting in the intelligence service's headquarters, the Republic is now in a position to decapitate the organisation's leadership in one fell swoop. While this will not resolve the problem of the Brotherhood's existence given its origins, it will set the group back years, if not decades.

I have dropped the Energy infrastructure as it would have crippled our wallet for the foreseeable future (thank you @Crafter of War for pointing this out). And to offsett all the cost of the Humanitarian Aid actions I decided to sell heavy machinery to the Capellans. Even with the risk of strengthening them to quickly on the table I think with all the gains the Taurians had that they will prove to be a good counter to Capellan influence even if we give them the machinery. And as a bonus we get a small bit of Influence as well to ofsett the massive expenditure last turn.

With the remaining AP we had left I decided to expand the Combine and Lyran intelligence networks to get eyes almost everywhere. So when the clan invasion really begins we hopefully have a better insight how there progressing.

C-Bill Income: $109,674,833
Available C-Bills: $507,239,624

This is our monies, btw. Courtesy of the Helghan info page. Not sure if it's updated for current stuff or there hasnt been any change to the monies.

If we go with admin, infra and aid, that's 137 mil for the whole triplet deal for FAS, and an indefinite 25 mil per turn for the aid until they no longer need it.

For the URC, that's 175 mil for the trio, then same 25 mil per turn afterwards.

In total we spend 312 mil Cbills of our savings, then spend 50 mil. Gonna take a chunk out of our wallet but we can afford the expenditure with our current income. Just be mindful of what else you guys wanna buy. Cappies do offer some payment for our services, so that's our meal ticket in case we need more moolah.

Okay, so Prom says completing the taxation system will reduce the price for the other projects, though I'm not we'll ever start it, let alone finish it, before quest end.

Why would we use an AP to talk to Rasalhague?
They already snubbed us once not to-mention there are ?2? other star nations between us and them.

[X] Plan Sunrise Parabellum

Yea the Rasalhague does not matter as they are a weak faction, with no tech that we could get from them, nor could we trade with them

Basically it getting eyes into Rasalhague for the clan invasion. Rasalhague is smag dab in the middle of the invasion corridor so getting some eyes there will allow us to get a good view on how the invasion is going. And considering Rasalhague is likely going to become desperate for assistance as the clan invasion continues having opened relations with them will likely allow us to negotiate to assist them and smack the clans around.

However I am open to changing the action if you have a different action to fill it and a good reason why that action is more important.

@F0lkL0re why are you doing a infiltration attempt for NAIS? The Feds are doing a intelligence sweep this turn so it's likely that any infiltration attempt will be harder or potentially immediately reversed if successful I would suggest waiting until next turn before doing any intelligence actions for the Feds.

Maybe build more warships or expand the Detroit mech factory.
Helping the URC planetary militia's costs 2 AP and rewards us 1 URC AP per turn extra, could be worth grabbing early.
Heck even a Pet synthesis factory would be great.
Hmm I will consider upgrading the Detroit mech factory as were likely going to need more mechs for the clan invasion.

I do wonder why people want to set up Pet synthesis factories. In my opinion it's a unnecessary risk as we have no real issues with Petrusite right now. If we construct one now and the other great houses learn of it, it is going to become the intimidate target for espionage in order to learn how to make Petrusite synthetically. I hold the opinion we should only start constructing pet factories once other nations have learned to do it aswell.

Edit: Also that URC AP is not something were getting it's more saying if we do this action 1 URC AP will be counted towards completing the action.

While we're not short on petrusite for what we're doing with it, we might be able to engage in additional expenditures with a synthetic source.

Maybe something that doesnt stretch our already overcapped warship limit, doesnt break our bank account and is something we actually need to do right away?

So no more warships, focus on outback admin, aid and basic necessity and not military right off the bat, and something we need to do before clans arrive in full.

Considering we're still only using 680k of our million units of petrusite, and most of that is warships which, as I said, is already at the limit, no, we do not need more petrusite in the short term, much less waste it on much more difficult synthesis processes when planetary sources are still present.

Intel, outback, stuff for allies like promises or deals or development on the planets we already have, focus on the food on your plate, people, not the buffet across the room. Colonization is just a big no at this point in time, or questing for more resources when you still have planets you havent tapped.

Jesus, maybe even offer to help Aurigans with any untapped resources if you guys are so desperate. That'll earn us influence and cash at least.

Edit: MAWLRs to finish the goal, detroit shipyard, and mech fac sure. Anchorage to help with the overcap on the navy. Maybe mil station but we're not really gonna enter war for a while (clan invasion will be far away, something for an expeditionary force to deal with). And shipyard jobs will probs be more beneficial for detroit.

Pirates are basically extinct in ordispace anyways. :V

In my view it's to much of a security risk right now when we really don't need it. Especially because were likely going to decommission a lot of the old parts our fleet relatively which will decrease the drain on petrusite.

It's just a potential at this point, a fantasy, really, but there's an iiiiiittty bitty chance we become friends with Rasalhague, and once Wobbies start doing... wobby stuff, we got someone in the neighborhood we can ask 'wassup waz goin on' to.
