"But make no mistake, the White Wolves fight for Ulric and none other. The moment I see you lead us falsely, I will not hesitate to take back command."
Oh my, you're so cute!

A tidal wave of power washes over the street, hitting you like a sledgehammer into the gut. All around you you see the Swordmasters falter and stumble while the humans remain unaffected, but none suffer as badly as you, falling onto your hands and knees, the Cerulean Shield flickering into nothingness while the Lightfang slips from your fingers. Blood, hot, liquid blood pours out from behind your eyes and rises up your throat like bile, choking, burning, stinging you like acid.
And somehow that's not magic🙄

Blessing of the Heavens Unlocked: Mage-Soul
The Cadai bestowed upon elvenkind the gift of magic, and none may take it from them save by their leave.
-Your magic cannot be stripped from you or suppressed, whether by lead, obsidian, spell, curse or otherwise. Your magic can still be counterspelled, dispelled or resisted as normal, and you still have to be able to speak and move in order to cast spells, this merely means you cannot be prevented from channelling magic by any means.
-This also renders you immune to "spell-eater" abilities that would burn out or force you to forget a spell.
-Magic raised by 1.
Hell yes!! That was awesome! Suck it, you barbarian!

More seriously, that's a neat trait. Sure, it won't be useful most of the time, but it means that in case of capture the enemy will likely underestimate us. And of course we will be better at fighting Chordates.

And in a hypothetical fight with Mathilde Webber, we would be able to use magic against her without her OP belt getting too in the way.

You have not been abandoned by the gods, any more than you have abandoned them.

You are worthy.
That's pretty heartwarming. Let's hope Fanriel's moral will improve, and that it's what convince her she can find redemption.

"Not in Ulric's name," you state slowly. "I told you in Erengrad, Commander. I serve Asuryan, Hoeth and Lileath."

"I'll be sure to keep that in mind," he nods, with an edge of respect to his voice that was not there before
Yeah, you better learn your place, mortal.

Yeah, you better understand your place,
"I have fought the northmen aplenty," Urskoy grunts. "Never have I known one of their Vikti to travel with such a retinue."

[12+30(Fanriel Learning)=42/100]

"They are not usually so numerous. Or so… touched," you say, glancing at the angular rune carved across the chests of each of the berserkers. "Too many god-marked warriors in one place leads to strife, so most will go either north or south."
Well, what a good Loremaster we are :V Maybe it's a very early sign from the Everchosen's arrival?

[] Fanriel will use Smoke and Mirrors to teleport past the Livgard, and hunt the Shamans by herself.
I might favor the teleport? Its risky, but generally take out casters IMMEDIATELY is the best bet, especially if they are in the middle of a ritual they may be able to complete if we dont act NOW.
So, specifically 'Fuck You Khorne'? Yeah, that tracks.

And I think my vote goes to the teleport plan...we need to stop the ritual ASAP.
Personally I'll vote for the teleport. It is indeed risky, but we're an exceptional fighter. We indeed need to stop that ritual asap, because it will probably be very destructive. The good news is that mages busy casting an obviously powerful ritual are pretty distracted to things happening around them. They will likely be vulnerable before the ritual's completion.

Can we combo Smoke and Mirrors with Shroud of Invisibility for a teleport backstab? Or at least teleport and try to sneak up and murder one of the priests while they're distracted? Maybe combine that with the charge of the Ulricans. Preferably the Tzeentchian because Nurglites don't die when they're killed.

Edit: Would also be pretty epic to summon a shadowsteed and teleport in for some mounted combat. The Ulricans are inspiring me that way, what can I say.

YOU HAVE FAILED ME, WEAKLING!
Specifically, it's the fact that the Bloodfather took a backward step.

Khorne abhors cowardice even more than he does witches.

The Khornate elites are dead. The enemies you are up against are Tzeentchian and Nurglite, with Slaanesh unaccounted for.

@Blackout do we have time to summon elementals?
Yes.

Can we combo Smoke and Mirrors with Shroud of Invisibility for a teleport backstab?
Yes, though Shroud of Invisibility does not make you invisible to Magesight, you'll just appear as a blob of Ulgu.

"It is my dearest hope that the destruction of the fleet is worth the expenditure of two of my Djinn," they say, somehow managing to affect a sour note while the tone of their voice scarcely shifts.
Here's hoping. Though a little concerning that there a chance the elementals returning to the Warp can cause a tear in reality.
Even so, for a moment the Mistweaver's focus is elsewhere, and reality shifts around you as you behold that which he has not permitted you to see. The watchtowers on either side of the harbour turn into smoking ruins, while a trio of elven warships appear out of nowhere, moored some distance away from the harbour. Elven warriors in the blue-white garb of the Lothern Sea Guard leap from perilous rock to rock up the shoreline, navigating terrain that would have ground a human landing to a crawl with ease.

"Well, I suppose that answers the question of where Wavestrider was," you mutter. "Come, while our kin have their attention. We have our mission."
Good to see the Sea Elves are here and ready to kick ass. Let's see how much more they can help.

So, you are forced to restrain yourself to a pace your legs can barely stand, feeling more like you are on a relaxed stroll through the streets of Lothern with your friends than marching through enemy territory.

You hate it. You hate it.
Yowsa, this mission isn't really helping Fanriel's opinion of humans now, innit?

But yes, I too know the pain of walking faster than everyone else who feels like slugs in comparison.
Don't be ridiculous," Orlaith retorts. "That is nothing more than a Wyvern."

"That's really not all that much more comforting, you know," Cothaerion quips, his tone joking but with a sharp edge to it.

Another bloodcurdling roar echoes through the mist, mixing with the echoes of the first one, causing the humans to flinch in fear.

"Make that Wyverns," Vaelon notes, his voice taut with tension. "At least two, maybe three."

Ohhhh fuck! 2-3 Wyverns?!!? We did not roll well for this at all, did we? Here's hoping the Sea Guard can help deal with that hot nonsense.
"A Bloodfather," you mutter, and human and elf alike recoil in recognition. A shaman-priest of Khorne, the Chaos God of Blood, Skulls, Hatred, Wrath and War.

And he is looking right at you.
Huh, so I guess these are Khornates

(Reads on) Oh nevermind, it's Chaos Undivided so we have to deal with all 4 flavors of bullshit.

For a moment you see, you feel the world as the humans do.

And it revolts you.

The world is dull and lifeless, devoid of colour and energy. Gone is the passion of Aqshy, the simple yet vibrant power of Ghur, the forceful vitality of Ghyran, the quiet, sad yet beautiful peace of Shyish, the alluring mystery of Ulgu, the cold reason of Chamon, the contemplative serenity of Hysh, and the whimsical creativity of Azyr.
"Huh, so this is what it is like to see through the eyes of the normals. How fucking disgusting."

Well this isn't good, not only are we cut off from the winds, we're too nauseated and busy choking on our own blood to fight, whatever shall we do?
[100+25(Fanriel Piety)+10(Student of the Dreams)-40(Witchbane Curse)=95/100 Natural 100 Critical Success]

"NO."
Oh, we'll crit succeed on telling Khorne to fuck off with his bullshit, that's what we'll do.
What does this insipid little wretch, this thing, this human understand of magic? Little more than an animal, scurrying amidst the squalor of it's own pathetic existence, serving a hypocritical god that demands others obey a code he does not follow himself.

But you, you were made to wield magic.

"Jokes on you peasant, I have the Power of God, Anime and Racism on my side!"

And with a great, thunderous boom, the skull in the Bloodfather's hands explodes into a million splinters, gouging deep wounds across his skin.

The Norscans pause and falter in their tracks as the manifestation of the Blood-God is shattered, their momentum arrested for but an instant. The Bloodfather looks at you with an expression of stupefied terror, taking an involuntary step backward.

And in that instant, the glowing blood-runes strewn across his skin dull and flicker out, the baleful light of Chaos fading into nothing as the Blood-God withdraws his blessings.

"NO!" he bellows, a note of despair entering into his voice. "My lord, I did not-"
Ha! Suck it bitch! That's twice in a row we sent the Hound to pound town.

Holy shit, this is pretty darn neat. Just the value in not being able to be utterly shutdown is pretty great so if anyone wants to stop us from working our magic, they'll need to do so in reaction to it or restrain us.

You look at your hands, opening and closing your fists,

You have not been abandoned by the gods, any more than you have abandoned them.

You are worthy.

Aww, this is nice to see. An affirmation to Fanriel that while her people may have forsaken her, the Gods haven't yet.
In one motion, it plunges into the unfortunate human's bare chest, right under the heart, and a scream of pure agony echoes across the air, as prismatic flames begin to lick outward from the cut. In a matter of seconds the man is consumed in his entirety, not even ashes remaining behind.
Uhh, I'm just gonna hope that wasn't the target we were meant to rescue going up in smoke.

As for what we do, we got about 400 God-marked goons up there on a hill and 2 shamans. Honestly, while we could choose to teleport up there and try to quickly cut down the Shamans, the troops would benefit from our command bonus and we are specced to counterspell these bastards. Decisions, decisions…

Well, that was certainly eventful. Nice trait for Fanriel, though she might need a little longer before warming up to humans at this point.

Yeah, probably in favour of the teleport too, even though those swingy dice are making me pretty nervous.

Cool battle. Although I can't help noticing that Fanriel has a disdain for humans that resembles a Thalmor in Skyrim.
Anyway, the shamans are gathering dark energy, probably for a demon summoning.

The teleporting plan has my heart, but Nurgle's followers never go down easy, and a Tzeentchian is no better. Still, interrupting the ritual ASAP will only help.
Against Tzeench, closing the range is the best choice. Against Nurgle, the absolute worst.
Either we use crossbows to keep them busy, or we go there but not alone.

Well, it looks like Tarondor and the Eatainian captain have their work cut out for them.

I will list several alternative possibilities for discussion, then we can do a write-in:
  • Half the men-at-arms should fight in melee, and the other half use their crossbows to keep the shamans suppressed, forcing them to go behind a menhir and not use the altar
  • Fanriel will summon 1/2/3 elementals, to hit the Livgard with Area-of-effect attacks and help the Knights + Swordmasters in their advance.
  • Fanriel should throw elementals at the shamans... who will bounce them off and use them to sacrifice all the prisoners at once, summoning the demon immediately... scratch that.
  • The knights and men-at-arms will be the anvil, approaching from the front. Fanriel and the swordmasters will be the dagger, the task force to go around under Ulgu and reach the shamans with their agility. But this leaves the humans without any superior and perfect Elven support, they could end up massacred. Hmm...
Conclusions:
Maybe joining the Knights is a good idea; Urskoy is a formidable champion after all, he just needs a little bit of magic and Elven support. The Last Alliance from Middle Earth FTW.
Alternatively, we cloak ourselves and, say, 2-3-4 swordmasters under Ulgu? No elementals, energy saved for countering emergencies.

How well does Hush work at shutting down enemy spellcasters in WHF? Even if they can cast through it, it still might be useful to activate it before teleporting in, just to prevent the shamans from calling for help...

Shroud of Invisibility is self-only.

Hush does not stop people from casting spells. For that, you'd want the Silence spell from the Arcane Lore, or some other method of physically gagging them.

How well did the Pale Spirits do? Rollwise?
Fog of war is in effect, you don't know.

The only thing you know is that they've failed at stopping the Norscans from unleashing the wyverns, but that could mean they were delayed getting to the Pit, or that they are dead.

Our crit was awesome, but on re-reading, i wish it was less racist.
I'm choosing to look at it as set up for charachter development.

Lots and lots of development.
Much work to be done.
[Can we Summon elementals]?
Yes.
Ghur are noted to have pack tactics - does that extend to not getting in the way of 'allied' forces?
---
Am very cider'd now, byt can we work summoning an Ulgu elemental into our teleporting?

Yes, that is the main specialty of the Lesser Ghur Elementals.

You can, if you don't mind finding out what Lesser Ulgu Elementals do mid-battle, as Fanriel only had time to experiment with Ghyran, Ghur and Azyr.

[X] Summon as many Lesser Ghur Elementals as you can without it becoming tiresome, order them to protect the lightfangs, Cast Ygethmor's Fiery Blizzard at the Livgard, and then join the knights and attempt to punch through to the Shamans, leaving the Men-at-arms and Swordmasters to deal with the Livgard.

Point made.

Fanriel: "Hey kids! Wanna see a dead body?"

Shamans: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Loremasters in theory:

[] Loremaster of Hoeth
The Loremasters pursue perfection by neglecting no aspect of knowledge. They are masters of every field, from history to swordsmanship to art to magic. While some would say that this leaves them spread thin, the Loremasters contend that theirs is the natural path for beings as long-lived as the elves, versatile and able to adapt to any situation.

Loremasters in practice:

[7+30(Fanriel Learning)=37/100]

But through your Magesight you see a burst of Dhar rise from the flames as the man's soul is consumed, joining the haze of corruption roiling around the Gudshöjd.

"A blood ritual," Urskoy grunts, his jaw clenched with anger. "I would wager my hammer that this was their plan all along, but our little incursion moved up their time table."
