If "Bandit Crackdown" wins, then we will have an opportunity to see how "Green" units (don't) work 😉

Army of Rags is most probably "almost solely" made of them.
Supposing Blackout doesn't change too much, here's their roster:
2,000 mercenary light infantry (poorly armed and armored, many have spears or swords but some are forced to use knives and clubs)
Those aren't too much trouble except for their number. Heavy infantry should be able to hold just fine, and a few cavalry charges in the back or flanks will most likely route them. Our Aqshy elementals will hurt them.

1,000 mercenaries with various ranged weapons (the weapons vary from slings, javelins, bows, crossbows and poorly functioning firearms)
Those are more troublesome. Even a javelin or slingshot can hurt badly, and with 1000 of them they can hardly miss.

500 mercenary heavy infantry (decent armor and weapons, ranging in quality from brettonnian men-at-arms to imperial infantry)
Those are bad, but not too much. Even if they're heavy infantry, their disparate equipment makes them vulnerable.

400 mercenary light cavalry (poor armor but decent weapons, riding donkeys and draft horses)
That's way more problematic. It gives them good scouting so surprising the army will be difficult, and the ability to wage a nasty guérilla against us. We should maybe go with our own light cavalry (if we have any on our side) to throw magic at them, especially our Ghur elementals.

100 assorted war beasts (mostly warhounds and tamed wolves, but there is also some bears and other large predators).
The bears are bad news, but except if they're armoured arrows should do the trick.

The Rusted Knight (Knight mounted on Pegasus using the Lore of Beasts) (Spellbook: Farsight, Prey's Vigilance, The Boar's Hide, Calm the Wild Beast, Master's Voice, Wildercall, The Beast Broken, The Beast Made Well, Cowering Beasts, The Ox Stands, The Beast Unleashed, Beast Master, Crow's Feast, Wildform)
That one is the biggest problem. His Pegasus allows him to be very hard to catch and to boost his forces everywhere.

Shooting at him with arrows or bullets is the best solution to try neutralising him, and here our Azyr elementals will shine. Summoning a few of them to attack him would be a big problem for him.

On the plus side we might be able to loot the gear of the better equipped among them, so there's our new Green recruits' equipment right there.
Or sell it for money if it's not good enough for us.

Kislev's Stance On Magic Users
Under the laws of the Tzardom of Kislev, it is illegal for men to wield magic.

It didn't used to be italicized like that, because there was no need to. But about three hundred years ago this guy named Finubar began his tour around the Old World, and suddenly there was a lot of money hanging on the specific legal interpretation of whether the law referred to "males" or "male humans". The Tzar at the time, after careful consideration and debate (And Finubar dropping a shipload of Cathayan silks and Indese spices on his lap and saying there's more where that came from, y'know, for any port willing to do business) came down in favour of the latter interpretation.

As for why Kislev bans male spellcasters, Kislev has a long-standing cultural tradition of considering magic to be a feminine art. They believe that magic corrupts those who are ambitious, warlike, or greedy, and since those are all masculine traits, male spellcasters are dangerous. There is also an Ice Witch prophecy regarding a male Ice Witch tainting the flow of Ice Magic through Kislev, but I do want to note that this attitude and opinion is not limited to the Ice Witches. There are also no male Hag Witches, and they've held that tradition since before there have been Ice Witches, let alone any prophecies involving them.

They weren't super happy about male elves being allowed to cast magic, but trade with Ulthuan is incredibly lucrative, and it's hard to argue against it when the Phoenix King's ambassador is all too happy to supply estimations of just how many additional rotas Kislev has raised with that money whenever someone starts making noise about it. Over time, things have mostly settled down since no great catastrophe befell, and people have mostly figured that elves are different enough from men that they operate on their own rules, though it's still advised that male elves traveling in Kislev avoid openly casting spells if they don't need to.

And yes, it is illegal for men to wield any kind of magic, not just Ice Magic. If you can demonstrate you aren't actively wielding magic, just have the capacity to use it, you get Pacified rather than executed, but that's about it.

Is pacified an english euphemism for euthanasia ?

ALso what about magic object like an enchanted tool/weapon/armor/other,a potion or something with a godly benediction ?

Crap. Hektor will definitely get hunted and will have to flee Kislev. We won't see him there.

In Warhammer it's a ritual that cuts from a person's soul the part which allows them to use magic. At least for full wizards it's described as worse than death. For people who never really casted I don't know the exact effect but it's unlikely to feel good.

Yikes. Even the Druchii are more civilised than that. At least they forbid male casters only because of some dumb prophecy interpreted by their madman of a king, not sexism.

And Finubar dropping a shipload of Cathayan silks and Indese spices on his lap and saying there's more where that came from, y'know, for any port willing to do business
Yeah, Finubar may not be a wizard but he sure has mastered the Lore of Throwing Tons of Gold at People.

Good to know and yeah, I at least don't intend for us to move at this point. Still, I'm surprised that between our recent job for a major merchant prince and us having acquired the services of the famous Asur Lothern Sea Guard marines that there aren't the option to escort some trade ships heading into major ports in the Old World like Languile, and Marienburg.
Sure, I can add options to that effect.

Though @Blackout if we do take the bandit mission, what are our looting rights? Pegasus aside taking the gear from some of the better equipped bandits gives us something we could equip any green recruits we might get in a later recruiting round, while the draft horses their cavalry use could act as beasts of burden to carry supplies for us.
No hard rules other than that the Ice Court has first refusal on anything even slightly magical. Beyond that it's more or less "Whatever you can claim and enforce." Which mostly works out to First Come First Served, but it's not unknown for bigger mercenary companies to try to bully smaller ones out of their loot, and if you try to keep something like the enemy's paychest for yourself you'll probably get jumped.

I am surprised they appeared here in Kislev, since going to Kislev as a male wizard is a very risky move. I would have expected we would meet them in the Empire if it happened at all.
One might speculate that he was running out of places to sell his services at.

As noted in the update, in the southern Old World the Cult of Myrmidia acts as a "Mercenaries Guild", arbitrating disagreements and blacklisting companies that repeatedly cause trouble.

By the way, should we find some Ithilmar, can we rectify this and restore the armour to its previous state?
Yes.

Speaking of male magic users in Kislev, @Blackout what about the Dark Flame? Their main selling point is their male Aqshy battle wizard. Do the fact that he uses fire magic reassure the Ice Court that he isn't at risk of corrupting Ice Magic, or will he get killed on sight the moment he casts Fireball?
They would not be able to operate openly in Kislev.

Yeah, kinda. But I want to know if the cool character I created can ever appear in the story as something else than an antagonist.
I mean, according to the tally a mission outside of Kislev is currently winning the vote.

And what about the Silver Prophet? Did they have to prove they weren't a man, or is the fact they use only summoned djinns enough to allow them to practice magic?
You haven't asked. It seems like it'd be a sensitive subject.

@Blackout

Did there will be other DoWs in "Bandit Crackdown" or "just us" (and Ice Witches's forces)
There will be other mercenaries as well.

@Blackout can Fanriel make some sort of educated guess as to how long the campaign in the Middle Mountains is likely to last given its current state?
She does not have nearly enough information to tell.

However, the contract is for three months. After that you can renew it for another three months or leave.

Isn't being Pacified objectively a fate worse than death?
Depends on who you ask. Often its the offender's family that wants them Pacified rather than dead.

Is pacified an english euphemism for euthanasia ?
Pacification is a ritual that permanently burns out your ability to use magic.

ALso what abot magic object like an enchanted tool/weapon/armor/other,a potion or something with a godly benediction ?
Magical items are fine.

Please do. It makes sense those would be options so long as we're near a major port like Erengard. They might even be a bit more lucrative then the land caravan missions given the reputation of the Lothern Sea Guard as marines and how in general maritime trade is more lucrative in this time due to the greater efficiency of carting many tons of goods by sea then by road, and it'd be nice to know where we stand in that regard in case we do ever decide to head out.

Middle Mountains might be long in-quest, but it's also the perfect starting campaign to reinforce to the Sea Guard that yeah, we be defending civilization and battling foul creatures, you're being productive by fighting alongside us. Sure, there are no bad choices among the presented options, but this one is particularly satisfying in that regard.

Yeah, but according to Blackout it's also sexism.
Realm of the Ice Queen has this to say:
The ice witches guard many prophecies and legends. One claims a male witch will one day taint the pristine flows of Ice Magic, changing it forever. So strong is the ice witches' fear of a male witch that ever since the days of Tzarina Shoika, men have been banned from becoming spellcasters in Kislev. This decree has been justified with claims that men are unsuitable for magic and will surely fall to corruption, and these beliefs are now strongly held by all levels of society.
Which would indicate that the prophecy is the reason for the kislevites disdaining male spellcasters, and which is why a lot of the fandom seems to think so. However, the book also has this to say:
To further ensure they do not succumb to the temptations of Chaos, the witches have taken another extreme measure. They believe the Winds of Magic corrupt those who are ambitious, warlike, or greedy, and the witches claim these traits are primarily masculine. So in Kislev, magic is solely practised by women and is seen as a feminine art. Male spellcasters in Kislev are figures of hatred and ridicule, for no sane man would risk his soul by meddling with womanly matters.
The prophecy cannot be the sole reason for the attitude towards male spellcasters, because this section is referring to both ice and hag witches, and hag witches have been female-exclusive since before there have been Ice Witches.

The prophecy is the reason the Ice Witches pushed for the total ban of male spellcasters, but it is not the reason for the culture and opinions towards them, the Ice Witches do not have the kind of pull to shape the entire Kislevite society including Ungols, based on one prophecy. If anything the prophecy is the result, rather than the cause of said culture.

Question out of Curiosity

Can you provide examples of other (submitted) DoWs that might be blacklisted too?
I don't really have the time to comb through them right now.

Pick any of the vampires, greenskins, druchii, chaos-worshippers or so on.

I do hope that if we end up taking the Bandit Crackdown then that we don't take long in our next downtime so we have a chance to still go to the Middle Mountains. It would be a shame to miss out on the chance to meet up with the Middenlanders wizards and Eonir ones at the same time.

Don't forget that the sea is Aisling's domain, which is dangerous for us.
