[X] Rin

I am not passing up Rin again dammit! We need more Saberface but just as importantly she's Ayako's friend and telling her about what happened to Ayako and asking that she help look out for her after her scare is important!

Raiga pauses, turning his milky eyes back towards me. "That was not a request."
Then she looked back towards me, her face was scared.

A couple of unintended instances of first person.

I have no fucking idea what's going on anymore and I love it.

I'm assuming this is the FGO protagonist and thus the most clusterfucky option.

Nah, that's just genderbent Shirou and, or — maybe not at all — Shirou and Rin's future daughter.

I said we had a half-success before. Ayako is alive.

But the social link is broken.

Given SV, there's no real chance at reconciliation.

If Shirou talks to Rin I think there might be a chance. She and Ayako are real friends and if Shirou explains what happened, Rin could help comfort Ayako.

Granted she'll probably swear at Shirou and be adamantly against Ayako having a relationship with him in light of what happened, but Rin is always shouting at Shirou and Ayako's well being comes first.

May as well keep digging ourselves deeper.

I'm curious how about how the other options would've gone, considering what happened

That malformed logic is exactly why the relationship is doomed. Rin isn't going to just magically brainwash Ayako into being fine with a serial killer killing her in her sleep with a sword the size of her torso. Especially since Shirou's wrapped in a bunch of other crazy people with superpowers that can just effortlessly heal or knock her out.

The problem is Ayako doesn't understand this new Shirou Emiya, isn't someone mentally prepared to "walk with death", and is rightfully concerned about all the people around her crush that can manipulate her body in the blink of an eye. The only way to fix the "reverse" would be to resolve her problems at her speed and see if Ayako still wants the 'real' Shirou. Slowly bring Ayako into the Moonlit world. Tell her what this whole Magecraft and Grail War are about. Have her do controlled interactions with our Casters in a place she feels safe. Keep Mordred far away from her. But even if that was on the table, and given the accelerated timeline of a HGW that's unlikely, it'd have to be blatantly offered and continually taken for people to execute on it, thus making Ayako compete with every single other option on offer.

The SV playerbase isn't up to the challenge of solving a multi-step relationship puzzle that doesn't have all the hints turned on and a walkthrough in a new tab.

I never said she would, but Ayako could do with a friend that knows what the hell she just went through enough to be there for her even if she doesn't admit to being a part of the moonlit world. It'd get her stable enough to a point where she could interact with Shirou comfortably.

Or are you saying its a better idea to let Ayako stew on her own, with no one to talk to or rely on? Because that's the situation she's in right now. Shirou's the only one she knows that is a part of this thing and he's associated with Mordred so she can't exactly spend time with him to cool off her head and she doesn't know Rin is a mage and isn't going to talk with her on her own volition.

Talking to Rin provides a means of supporting Ayako from a distance and keep her from gaining some kind of neurosis, which is important because this is exactly the kind of inciting incident in the Nasuverse to set a person down a dark path.

We NEED advice from an experienced master not to mention she can help us with our lack of direction in fixing this. Remember she knows where the Greater Grail is AND IS THE MOST LIKLY TO TELL US!

Look, the most involvement in the Grail War Ayako's going to have after this is when Lancer or The Mud kills her along with a bunch of other people for fuel. Rin's not going to be the 'help' you seem to think she is, Rin's the classical Magus who will absolutely do whatever it takes to keep the Moonlit World a secret and keeps stalker-grade mental records on people because some Masters are randomly selected and any of her classmates are potential enemies. She'll notice Ayako's acting very differently in a heartbeat and ask without us needing to do anything. As for keeping that secret, Rin'll just wipe Ayako's memory and she'll have no memory of ever being involved with us.

There is no back button on bad decisions, just be glad Ayako'll get a chance to live some more.

Well, I guess we used the command spell. Probably for the best though. I've spent so long playing F/GO that I've forgotten how bad Madness Enhancement can affect a servant. As it stands, it seems to me that Mordred at this point is like Lancelot in Zero, completely incoherent and can only be pointed in a general direction, or Spartacus in Apocrypha whose is as liable to kill their own master as they are to kill anyone else in the grail war. Unless Mordred's Spirit Origin can be modified, there is no chance in hell that her and Shirou can understand each other, or helpful in any way other than as an unstable bomb.

[X] [Illya]

My reasoning for this choice is that I think Shirou needs to develop a bigger rapport with Illya. He spent a small amount of time with her, but that time was well-spent bonding, or at least getting on her good side. Morally, I think it would be good for Shirou to grow closer to Illya, give her some happiness in her life since it's up in the air at the moment if she is going to live past the next decade (a lot can happen in a grail war, so her ultimate fate is dubious right now). Practically, Rider (or Medusa, if we don't care about using aliases) is a great servant to team up with due to her mobility and ability at close-ranged combat, which both Medea and Circe lack. Rider's master being Illya shows that Rider is not impeded compared to when she is paired with Shinji, and Illya is knowledgeable about the servants, the grail war, the 3 families that created it, the holy grail, etc. Things which Shirou definitely needs, even if some of this info is no longer relevant due to whatever chaos is happening in the war right now.

She does?

Madness enhancement is very bad, FGO is very bad at showing this.

Right, because in this quest subtitled "Clusterfuck" her plotline will be resolved so very succinctly and without drama.

Trust the process amigo, don't be so doom and gloom.

She also has more experience with relationships.

That said however.

[X] [Illya]

This is the only time I'll see a Fate story where Shirou suddenly has to explain this sassy lost child to his classmates.

I mean what are the chances that this is just prologue Gudako with no experiences and is supported only by Mash that has been shunted into whatever Clusterfuck is from the Fuyuki Singularity in a reversal of how Shirou ended up in it momentarily.

By the way BB's still in Rin's phone yeah? Are we not going to worry about that?

As much fun as I personally would have from meeting Rin right now, we require a certain expertise she lacks.

BB is in control of Rins phone, but I doubt it's the only device she is inhabiting.
