Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

is there any guide about this? Cause I imagine someone in our hell whose dedicated themselves for two thousand years to martial arts or academics or medicine might be bullshit?

Then why are you voting for a deal and not no deal?
The part of your post I was agreeing with was that the rumor is of little to no real value, certainly not enough to be worth our high tier crafting materials, not that he has nothing to offer.

We don't actually have a guarantee that our hell will give us easy access to all mundane materials for one, and quality alchemical training is definitely worth it given how flexible the path is.

The flat crafting boost is less valuable. I mostly approval voted it because I'd prefer almost any plan to one that spends our materials on a rumor.

I mean it mostly depends on choices I assume. I'm sure they'll have plenty of materials pretty much regardless though also rare and unique ones. We can also fill out our hells lore before we make it as long as its not too outrageous.

DP told us, if we want circlemates, we should look into Exalted or Exaltations, rather than just hope they come to us.

Following this rumor is a chance to do so.

so no comments on my questions? Cause if anyone knows I really am curious how common beyond 5 dot skilled people are in a hell with hundreds of millions?

How many people their are Olympic medalist's in a given category. Note that is people that are currently at that level. Not counting former medalist that do to age or injury cannot reach that height anymore. That is what 5 dots means, their are maybe 100 people in the easiest to train, and develop ablities in the world. Which is not a lot when the world has billions of people. 5 dots is not just a matter of being great, it requires constant effort and develop just to stay at that level, missing even a single week can set you back months of effort.

our hell has non humans and magic users dude. Also the average person is immortal as in some of them can be well over a thousand years old. So yes some of them are going to be comparable to supernatural creatures even as humans and this isn't even counting the totally non human sapients of our hell. If white court vamps can do it so can our hells denizens.

Edit: Also the number of people above 5 dots in a skill is way way higher in dresden files. Not that 5 dots is easy.

In this case I am firmly in the no deal camp. He isn't offering us anything.
Untraceable material supply route is useful, even when we get our kingdom, if we are planning to do exalted wondercraft, and if we are planning to make large scale projects. I assume that we'll be able to transfer materials from our kingdom in a backpack or something, but if we need a truckload of enriched urainum to forge a Heart of the City, or several cubic meters of Copper-65 isotope to make a cabling with in our mansion that would also metaphysically transfer entropy and act as a nervous system for a 5 dot cyberdevil, I expect that this would stay more useful.

Elves become obsolete in two situations:
1) We do our craft inside our kingdom. I expect that we'll do that a lot, because we'll have a lot of logistical support there, and because we could craft in our shintai there (It has indefinite duration in there, and it gives +4 dex which is useful for crafting).
2) We learn how to summon craftsmen from inside our kingdom. That would probably be either a high tier Ephemera path, or a heretical charm, likely our first.

So, on the balance, I think we should get the elves, and for training, we could further negotiate with them in the future. We probably have stuff they would want.

I wasn't aware we were given details on who and what our Kingdom will have in it.

We are the one that choose what and who is in it, and the current agreement is to at least get advanced technology for it.

The most likely candidate for what our hell will be right now is Yog's *fivefold court of fate*, you can get more details in the Apocrypha.

I was rereading the thread and I found this. @Nyarky can you please tell me where this quest is?

Here, do note this quest uses a lot of fanmade material to make infernals transformation into devil tigers more gradual than just buying a charm and suddenly you're a primordial, they have an inner world and some charms comes with the creation of their own subsouls.

@DragonParadox would we be able to use Odin's servants (either valkyries, or elves if we get them in our service via this trade, or some other trusted and close servant) to ask a crown question about his knowledge of exaltations / his knowledge of exaltation locations?

You could but it would work like when you asked what the Yama Kings knew, not guaranteed since you are asking the exaltation questions about itself

I thought one of the main reason that didn't work was because we used Big Book of Yomi Wan as the focus, i.e. something we made ourselves? At least that was the reason given at the time in-story:
What is what
Seed is Black

It feels like having your brain dipped in ice water, thoughts stuttering endlessly upon themselves. as they try to find purchase on something in the book, on the mind behind the book, finding only your own thoughts, on Emma-O and his knowledge, but Emma-O did not write the book, you did and so like looking down a hall of endless mirrors you see only yourself in mirrors black, down down into empty meaning.

Object or Concept
Real is Abstract and
Abstract is Real

"Damn, OK, bad idea, I get it..." you shake your head as though you had just come out of a shower. Dad looks at you funny so you explain. "Trying to use a book I wrote about Yomi Wan to figure out what the Yama Kings know about my power is crossing the conceptual wires, like my power looking at itself only worse because instead of a flat error message it starts to work then trips itself up."
And out of story you said we could look for another way to get into Emma-O's head:
OOC: The Black Seed Question was a marginal one so I rolled willpower to see if you Molly be able to force the crown to work as she wished. It did not work so you are going to have to find another way to get into the head of Emma-O.
So, I assumed that we could use one of Odin's servants as a way to get into his head and learn what he knows. Or has this since been amended to a more general ban / issue on topics related to exaltations? So, for example, burning Lydia's anima as a focus to learn about exalted animas would not work / require additional preparations.

It is harder for Molly to learn about things which relate to her own being, the closer something is to asking 'what am I' the harder it gets. It is not impossible, but she would get better results asking that of Odin standing before you than one of his servants and even then it is more likely to be words than detailed images. I would roll for how much you get since this is a very weighty topic.

It's not like I'd want to release all the Exaltations on the world.
But having a real party of 4 or so people would be practical, both in mechanical and narrative senses.
I don't think we can start advancing that plot without getting sucked into it wholesale, and the power escalation curve of it would still warp thing.

Eventually we'll reach a point where it's a nice natural progression, but as long as we have lots of other plot space to work with I think we're sacrificing more than we're gaining chasing these leads.

Honestly I think our builds a mess even if we got quadruple the amount of exp every arc than we do right now it's still a problem. With sorcery, attributes, charms, merits, is sorcery and stuff like the alchemy path even the same category? I'm not completely sure myself. Going into all of it as far as I'm concerned was a mistake and we should have picked our niche regardless of whether we don't have the circle mates needed or not. Too late for that though.

It's just, we are meeting nice people who would make fine companions, but then they can't mechanically matter and be full partymembers, because a little Talent like Olivia or a young Vampire like Isabela just can't and won't keep up.

There is a desire to have more people around us on our level, who are neither too weak to matter, nor too experienced and old to be that kind of companion (for example Michael or Harry, who both won't grow much in the relevant timeframes of this quest).

The problem is that trying to force people to "mechanically matter" when by that you mean being an exalted tier combatant inevitably means that things will start on the escalation treadmill to keep up.

If we want that level of power to stay meaningful instead of becoming the minimum buy in that forces the setting out of the game then we should work with what's available.

Our biggest boss enemies are exalt scale, but right now that sort of power isn't exactly dime a dozen. There's a huge amount of space in which the people around us can do things that matter if we're not setting our standards at "punch down on reality".

It also doesn't help that we're hanging in the kid leagues right now. A proper wizard tier talent found networking with the council and some other similar supernaturals would work fine once we stop deliberately hanging out with the dregs of the supernatural world.

Ultimately your desire to bring those people in would end up locking even more people out as it ups the pressure on the plot.
