Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

And now I'm caught up on the main body of the quest to the most recent post.

Organizing the Order of the Cauldron has an appeal to it. The main action, outside of reacting to others, that Molly has taken is to help the little people from being ground up by either their own cursed nature or the overwhelming harshness that the supernatural world has going for it. It'd be great to lay some groundwork for the Order and the Jade Dogs to step up in founding the Paranet as a full-on thing. We'd have to dedicate some actions to it in the future, but we can lay out a vision to the people we're already connected to now.

Help organize some light in the world for those people afraid of the dark.

I'm also still very attracted to the idea of creating a city-god of Chicago.

More like undercave really there are a lot of ghouls not affiliated with us in chicago. I figure once we get wishes we can make the unlimited respawning pizzas and such to actually allow an army of ghouls live after a few dozen wishes over times of respawning pizza boxes and other stuff.
Honestly, Chicago has restaurants and ghouls deserve paychecks, benefits, vacation days, just... normal stuff. I want our guys to have gated communities where they don't need to hide the fact that half of them are monsters or whatever but also, you know, just go to a family restaurant or order pizza or whatever with their disposable incomes. If they can't fake being human or aren't comfortable with it other options might be necessary though.

If doordash was a thing it would be getting some good business. In general, my answer to things is usually going to default to 'this is why money exists' and not 'lets perform reality warping'.

I mean the wishes are kinda needed seeing they need to eat what was it 50 pounds of meat a day? Like its just not something that can be easily accommodated without powers. Asides its a fix towards one situation heck its useful in general to have a constantly replenishing food source. Not that I really disagree with you. But, the wishes for constant food is a god send for ghouls. Its not like its not helpful. Asides I want a small army of ghouls if we can that requires at least a dozen or two constantly magically replenishing foods.

Molly was thinking about how getting an apartment is what an 18 year old wanting space from her family is supposed to do. Maybe scale that up to a higher level by getting an apartment complex for us and ours. It would require a focus of our money, but it should be doable.

I mean long term we may be able to turn the undertown into well something worthy of being called a town.

Edit: By the way when we get a hell do we want to get our minions when they die to go there? Cause uh for ghouls at least I'm kinda worried they instantly go to their creator or one of the hells. Like I imagine for ghouls that have a soul as mixed blooded that there's some choice involved but the choice may be as fucked up as eating a human once means you go to said hell. Like as much as I'm sure the sorta human ghouls would have a choice I'm also fairly sure it would not be a sane or reasonable choice.

I would rather not have them waiting in the wings ready to pounce well we do other stuff.

I'm game for either option. I would like to clear some of our debt to Odin, both to further interact with Gard and more of the Monoc crew, and to contribute to a good rep of paying off our debts in a timely manner. Getting the Skinwalkers taken care of just makes good sense. They're a dangerous enemy with an even more dangerous leader, and the longer they're left unchecked, the more shenanigans they can get up to in our backyard.

[X] Speak to the Order of the Cauldron about getting organized
-[X] The Order should see about connecting more with the other groups and talents out there. The very idea of the Order is about people coming together to help look out for one another, and they've recently had to huddle together with the Jade Dogs to stay safe. Numbers and knowledge are what keep people safe.

--[X] Security. The latest events show that security through obscurity isn't going to work, and while you and Lydia can be almost everywhere, it's better to be organized to better handle crises.
--[X] Benefits. There are opportunities in magic that can be used for mutual benefit without breaking the Laws. Like making sure the weather is nice for a wedding, or setting up the best coffee shop in the city, or a lot of other stuff. By organizing better, it becomes easier to cooperate and help each other.
--[X] Politics. Like it or not, they are associated with you now, and that makes them a political force that can't just be completely dismissed.

Time to show Odin that though we cannot create techno-sorcerous wonders yet, we can spruce up his rides with some paint, elbow grease, and the Infernal essence of all the world's impurity.

If that's the case I think your arguments could use some refinement. They could easily be taken as us being responsible for this, despite the fact that this situation would have happened without us. People are already likely to play that game, we shouldn't feed it.

If we propose action it should be specific, related, and something we know they aren't already doing.

Like the benefits stuff; they do that where they can, they just usually can't.

This would be a good time to talk about more safe houses for example, or on a crafting drive to facilitate self defense. Things we can volunteer resources to change the equation on.

We could also try some integration with the Jade Dogs. They were useful here and an armed ghoul would deter a lot of low level trouble in a way many talents can't.

Setting up a network for them to call in muscle when needed without going through Molly first could be useful.

A spicier change would be to push for more open marking/marketing. Argue that the Ordo's membership would be safer if members carried badges or whatever, and used them to threaten people with Molly's reputation. Take the implication out and specifically promise to play enforcement.

Which is sort of like your political point, but anything we do should have specifics baked in.
You are right, but I'm honestly not sure how to write those. Which is why I limited my "arguments" to a list of reasons why they should reorganize (with our input and participation, to be handled next month, after they talk between each other).

Though the image of a chain of family diners that could accommodate that sort of hunger makes me want it even more. Private dining areas on request so eyebrows aren't raised over an entire cow worth of perfectly grilled and seasoned steak being served for a party of ten. If you are ignoring offal and bones, which I don't want a ghoul to be desperate enough to need consume, each ghoul would eat about a tenth of a cow every day. Its not an obscene amount of money for a would-be megacorp but, yeah, magical shenanigans would simplify logistics and make the whole thing stealthier.

That said, at some point we'll want decent quality dining facilities for a broad swath of different feeding needs and habits. Its all that much more reason to just start buying up small and medium sized businesses in the Chicago area and putting them in-the-know.
Molly was thinking about how getting an apartment is what an 18 year old wanting space from her family is supposed to do. Maybe scale that up to a higher level by getting an apartment complex for us and ours. It would require a focus of our money, but it should be doable.
Ultimately I see us legitimately owning Chicago or enough of it that the distinction is meaningless. Way, way down the road. But having facilities for people of varying ilk that is going to be important. Some we are attached to can't go off the grid, some just wouldn't want to because they want to stay closer to humanity.

As to if the rumors hurt him? Yes, they very much did. He found out after the fact that multiple people with relevant, timely, information for cases he was working that had every ability to share with him didn't because of them. To the extent that people were seriously injured or outright died as a result.

This case was even one of them. The Ordo avoided Harry while they were being hunted because they thought a Warden was doing it, and they thought he might be the guy for the job because he was probably a hitman.

Do you remember any cases where the rumored association with Marcone was the explicit reason? With the Ordo for example, I think the Warden part was the real reason, which was not something he could get rid of. Same as Molly's "looks like an archdevil on vacation" aura.

I also remember a counter example, where Dresden got a mundane hitman to talk and share intel in Changes by using Marcone's name.

I think if someone won't talk to us, just because they won't approve of the White Court and Lara, then they are also the type to not talk to us because of the "vacationing archdevil" stuff anyway.

But anyway, it's a moot point, because "talking to people, making deals with powers, trading with big groups, information trade and etc" are all things I can approve of as a reaction, because it's what we should be doing anyway.

The warden story getting bought was in part related to the prior assumption he killed people for money, pretty sure comes up when he finally talks to the Ordo leaders. It also comes up with the police.

Remember the whole thing with Greene we saw earlier in the quest? In canon he also bought the rumors that Harry was involved with organized crime.

Your counter example isn't a counter of any kind. Him getting some benefit out of it later isn't the same as being a net benefit, and it certainly wasn't something Dresden chose. Treating this sort of thing like something that just mysteriously happens on its own inaccurate and unhelpful.

As to the differences in our behavior, there are some and I did outline them in my previous posts.
