But I thought Xiulan was the one who started off purposely designed to have most of the stereotypical villainess tropes? She was the only girl in the main cast who already had an arranged engagement and everything.

Ling Qi bumbling into something too intimate because she thought she could optimize time is just too in character to pass up.

So actually the villainess is Sun Liling and the heroine is Cai Renxiang and the big denouncement scene happened back in Forge. Ling Qi's just a minor flunky, sorry.

Meizhen and Liling would like a word, because they were definitely villain adjacent from the get-go, though for Liling it was mostly a result of flubbed rolls and surprising success for Meizhen that caused her to be viewed by us as villainous.

Nah, they both definitely have villainous aesthetics, but people were specifically referring to the otome-villainess style for the memes, which is its own particular thing. And for that, Meizhen wasn't an active enough bully/instigator, while Liling purposely went for a crude tomboy persona rather than a haughty Young Mistress (even if there were hints that she would've liked to do otherwise). The Icy Beauty and the Delinquent Girl respectively, in contrast to Xiulan, who definitely fit those villainess tropes better (and would be even closer without her friendship with Ling Qi).

It's a better transition to House of Ling, and I want Qigge to meet all fo Ling Qi's potential suitors and give her thoughts on the best one.

surprised this one is winning tbh... We could show Meng Dan the sights of Snowblossom and brag about how Zhengui is a good boy when we go through and pick him up...

I see this as LQ dipping her toes in the dating waters in general, for the first time since her tribulation. I don't care about shipping wars as much as our MC overcoming her trauma. Unlike most stories, it's taken a realistic amount of time for her to get to this point...so of course for us, it feels like its taken forever.
Last time she was on any sort of date, she was in complete denial about many things. So much has changed! She's grown so much!

However, if there's one thing this series has a problem with, it's transitions between scenes. It becomes even more apparent in RR rewrites but the story needs more transitions between updates. Which is why taking tea in the coach ride is perfect. It should be...cozy. *cue Sixiang eyebrow waggle*
