Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Craft excellency first, the

MHM doesn't give a bonus, it replaces the pool.

The potential exploit is to, say, roll 20 dice on Int + Occult for MHM and then get 15 successes. You that number of dice instead of your normal Int + Craft pool, but it's still a Craft roll even if you've changed the number of dice in the pool so you can still use your Craft Excellency, and add another Int + Craft dice to those 15.

With CCC and other difficulty reducers you can reliably add several dice, more if you have less than Craft 5.

Why are you saying it replaces anything? It gives you an additional way to manipulate your environment - via telekinesis. That manipulation doesn't rob you of your ability to manipulate the environment in other ways, i.e. normally. It adds to it, similar to how working with an assistant would work. Replacing doesn't make sense.

It has been ruled that this works in a different way, anyway.

TTC is great, but it's not unlimited. As I understand it, and let @DragonParadox correct me, it can give us tools with the functionality of the best cutting bleeding edge technology that is in principle possible for mundane humanity, and accelerate its functionality ten times over. But no more. So if we are completely incapable of gravity manipulation (and we are), then we can't make gravity manipulating tools.

Five times over for simple craft, ten times for something more complex that falls under technology and technically even computers skill, even though you guys do not have a computers skill. the difference is basically; 'the Wicked City is that much better at this than mundane humanity'.

I'm pretty sure the tool we used as part of the Arawn ritual, and possibly something to do with gossamer where highly magical, not mundane at all.

That's what the charm does; it says it replaces the dice pool you use with the number of successes when activating MHM.

No it doesn't. Like, straight up, this is the charm description:
After a moment spent in concentration,
the Infernal spends 1 Essence and rolls her Intelligence
+ Occult against difficulty 6. This Charm remains
active for the rest of the scene, and allows her
to telekinetically lift and move objects within her line
of sight. If she tries to wrest an object away from another
character, or perform fine manipulations, her
successes form her dice pool to do so. Otherwise, her
successes on the activation roll determine her strength
in lifting and moving objects:
The pool is for using telekinesis for fine manipulation and wresting things from others. It doesn't replace anything. It's for using MHM. We can still do things normally.

@DragonParadox for the future - how would By Rage Recast: Extra Limbs (telekinesis) interact with crafting?

The section 'If she tries to wrest an object away from another character, or perform fine manipulations, her successes form her dice pool to do so.'

Craft would be a fine manipulation, so the successes are the pool used, rather than the pool that would normally be used for such an action.

So, what are Lydia's intimacies? They're not on the sheet, and kind of relevant to Righteous Lion Defense, since that's the whole point and effect of the charm. @DragonParadox ?

You are pretty sure one of them is towards her father, but other than that Molly is not sure. Not like you can ask outright for things this deep

Hmm...

Extra Limbs
The Shintai possesses more than the normal complement of arms and legs, or perhaps sports a prehensile tail or trunk, or perhaps can manipulate its immediate surroundings with telekinesis. When the Infernal takes multiple actions, each subsequent action raises its difficulty as normal but doesn't suffer a penalty to its dice pool.

I don;t think it applies when you have reasonable amount of time to work in peace. So if you are using crafting to break into a lock at the same time as shooting a gun at someone that would be very relevant, but normal crafting which is one roll for the whole five day action I do not think is applicable.

I think it's pretty clear that it means "fine manipulation using the telekinesis".

  • [X] Plan Obligations and practicing for family
-[X] Attend school you have friends at school and you would like the memories of senior year and graduation even if they won't be teaching you anything worthwhile (If neither School nor getting your GED is chosen Molly will systematically skip class)
-[X] Restoring the Last Station: Restoration efforts have been going well and according to Adam some more of the people down in the tunnels have shown interest in their newfound wealth and comfort (6/10) [+extra AP from potion]
    --[X] Use bonus AP
-[X] Chariots for the One Eye: As part of her deal to ally against the Will of Kakuri you promised Odin vehicles hit for his warriors, time to show your chops.
-[X] The Bridges of the Spirit, continue your training with Brother Divsimar not in the ways of the spirit but the mind, the Bridge of Dreams
-[X] A friend in need. You promised Rosie that you would help and so you will, with problems material and ethereal
--[X] Talking to the family, you do not like Mrs Wilsom and the feeling is mutual, but as your experience at church yesterday showed you do not have to like someone to turn on the supernatural charm. Maybe you could work something out, or at least explain some of what her daughter is going through
-[X] The Seeker Sought given that you can teleport now maybe you can find a Medicine Man of the blood to deal with the Naagloshii. Given what you know of Broken Seeker and his... people now perhaps they would be more inclined to help you deal with them. Even if you do not find any takers you can deal with him.
[X] Plan: Infernal on the Warpath
-[X] The Worst Wingwoman: Apparently Sandra had set you up to break the Laws of Magic as part of a plot against Harry and probably dad as well come to that. It's about time you find her and have a talk to her about that
-[X] Chariots for the One Eye: As part of her deal to ally against the Will of Kakuri you promised Odin vehicles fit for his warriors, time to show your chops.
-[X] The Bridges of the Spirit, continue your training with Brother Divsimar not in the ways of the spirit but the mind, the Bridge of Dreams

-[x] Tools Redeemed: Thinking back on that paraphernalia you looted from the Fomori tantalizing insights come to mind... and more immediately relevant it will mean you can finally stop mooching of Harry's equipment. (Gain Alchemy Laboratory Halved XP price for reaching Alchemy 4)
-[X] A friend in need. You promised Rosie that you would help and so you will, with problems material and ethereal

-[x] Blackest Name: In the final ritual to help Arawn you invoked something old and hungry, something that seemed to resonate with the purpose of the ritual, its name writ in a long forgotten tongue. Thanks to Bob you now know it involves the would-be-Draculas of the supernatural world, the Black Court. Maybe Lydia can help
-[X] Restoring the Last Station: Restoration efforts have been going well and according to Adam some more of the people down in the tunnels have shown interest in their newfound wealth and comfort (6/10) [+extra AP from potion]
-[x] Cauldron Bubble, your new friends in the Ordo Lebetis could use more help, maybe not as... enthusiastic as the last time, but they are small fish in a very big and scary pond
--[x] See what's up with Helen, there is something eating away at Helen you are sure of it, something dark and strange, dark and strange is your specialty
-[X] Chariots for the One Eye: As part of her deal to ally against the Will of Kakuri you promised Odin vehicles hit for his warriors, time to show your chops.
-[x] Just relax: It's your birthday this month, surely that's a good reason to relax a little. Do you want to have a party?

Yog, I like your plan for the most part. One thing I'm looking at is Sandra though. Are any of the things we're doing able to be put off one month to get started on her? From my (limited) understanding agents of Nemesis are about as bad as it gets as far as threats go to the world. If we can pluck that bud early it could save whomever or wherever she's influencing a lot of capital T trouble.

I have three justificiations for this decision. I won't call them reasons, because tracking her is a valid choice and on the utilitarian side of things (i.e. if we were playing Winter) most likel outweighs stuff like school and Rosie:
1) Mab is an enemy of Outsiders, and so is Maeve, and both would very much enjoy some revenge and shared violence right now. I am fairly sure that Winter is already tracking the woman down. While they might not succeed, it's unlikely that she'll be able to cause much trouble while avoiding the hunt.

Now, joining in on the hunt would probably be a good way to pal around with Maeve. That's definitely an option. But on the "how much damage can delaying one month cause", Mab is a mitigating factor

2) The longer it takes us to track her, the more things she'll do between the moment we last saw her, and the moment we catch her. And the more things she has a chance to do, the more information we'll get once we catch her via Crown. If she's not dead already.

3) On the meta level, she vanished in canon and was never heard from again. So, I think one month is safe enough.

It is very compelling to run after her for revenge and answers, yes. But we have stuff to do, and "living well" is a good revenge strategy.

One thing that is worth keeping in mind about Winter is that these are literal immortals, they are not like old wizards who still have the sensitivities of mortals, they are patient in the way the rocks and glaciers are. There is no doubt in Molly's mind that Maeve and probably Mab as well are looking for Sandra and that she will most likely really hate it when then find it. But is it going to be this month, this year, this decade? That is harder to tell.

Oh, sure. The point is - she can't act very openly and avoid capture at the same time, so that puts some limit on what she can do.

I'd really suggest to look at the loot before it grows old.
Hate it when that happens.

Still have the moment in mind when we checked up on old loot in ASWAH and found out that it was something that would have been useful back when we got it, but that we had grown out of by now.

@Yog how about spending an AP for making a device to activate CCC all the time, that -3DC is a big deal.
1) Not sure it's worth an AP - that sounds like a couple hours of work at most.
2) This idea is very contentious, with several players being strongly opposed to it for reasons I can understand
3) We can trigger CCC in controlled conditions (ie for crafting) already. Trigger it in combat is a valid scenario, and something I advocate for, but I'm not sure we need it right now.
4) This turn we can't afford AP. Next turn we'll hopefully have both martial arts and Odin repayment lifted, maybe (if we roll exceptionally well) even Last Station. That gives us 3 to 4 open AP. We could go wild then.

Believe me, I understand you.

Loling at Hope. And Amanda.
We do need to spend time with the family. December maybe?

Poor Charity must feel that Molly is just spontaneously developing additional superpowers every couple weeks.
And even Michael might get a little frazzled.
Let's go ahead and win the lottery to get that out of the way. $64 million, plus whatever multiplier we get from the Powerplay option, takes care of our finances for a long time to come. It opens up all sorts of options in the future, from purchasing property to minion training and acquisition. Money is a superpower.
The announced jackpot is always a lot more than what a winner actually receives.
A 64 million jackpot means a payout of 50% if you take the cash payout option, then around a third of the remainder goes to taxes.
By the time you do all your expenses and taxes, you're down to 20 million or less, and you havent even set up a family trust fund yet.

We shouldnt blow our one allowed lottery win on something so small.
The juice is not worth the squeeze.

The next actual substantial payouts are in January, when there's a 213/254 million Powerball jackpot in the third week, which will give us ~70-80 million after taking cash and paying taxes.
Or if we have patience, there's a 390 million MegaMillions jackpot in the first week of March.
