that still doesn't mean its a good idea to add medicine to the ration, medicine is far more complex than food, and consequently far harder to universalise.
So not only does this (probably) overstress our existing healthcare infrastructure, id even argue it's likely to make access to medication worse seeing as people now have to rely on multiple levels of bureaucracy to get it; healthcare and appropriate ration.
(Seeing as i dont think the plan is to just give it out to anyone without some proof of need)

I like it. We begin electrifying the country in full force, developing our allies, improving health and education. It's great.

--[X] Establish numerous dedicated engineering colleges and institutes to slowly build up the expertise necessary for continued expansion of the economy. The curriculum will include mandatory classes on military engineering.
--[X] Send German Landwehr advisors to Italy and Japan to help them establish militaries of the same quality as Germany. Japan's advisors go on the condition that they accept the friendship treaty.

Because:
1. we dont have an infinite suppy, especially locally, and it would be very awkward if someone dies because some dickhead took his meds to get high/smuggle out/whatever.
2. Because often the only difference between medicine and poison is dosage, and its often better to avoid it at all if one is healthy (especially in this era).
3. ties into 2 to avoid an opioid crisis.
4. Because you probably go to the doctor anyway if youre sick, and thus get their approved meds, why wouldn't you?
5. Because creating the appropriately large stockpiles for this would be an incredible waste unless you want our people to be constantly drugged up their gills.
6. Because youll put every pharmacy in the country out of business

This is an incredibly bad idea.

Edit: i do think medicine should be free, i just think this ration business is a horrible idea.
Like just guarantee a Krankenkasse (healthcare provider?) taking over all cost, that way its free but 1 government stooge fucking up just means a payment is a bit late instead of a person going without medication.

I'm hearing a lot of paternalistic distrust of the people's ability to direct their own medication. Opiod crises don't arise because people just like drugs that much, they arise out of regimes of backbreaking labor and/or mental stress (which our existing policies of limiting the working day to 40 hours and compensating all labor time including domestic labor time alleviate) and out of the profit motive leading to overprescription (which decommodifying pharmaceuticals eliminates).

now you're just using 'Paternalistic' as a dog-whistle. Quite frankly, there WILL be people who abuse their meds. Not everyone is going to have the proper impulse control to use medication, in particular younger individuals. Or are you that willing to consign our teenagers and young adults to that kind of addiction?
