Springtime of Nations II: A European Republic Quest

Quite frankly I'll oppose any mesure that'd destroy the idea of the German State, because in the end I want Germany to be a country by the end of this quest, not some amalgam that just so happens to live in Central Europe. Internationalism is fine, But I'll always pursue the liberation and creation of distinct states outside of Germany, Rather than trying to bring their people to live here. Improve conditions outside of our country so that they don't NEED to leave their dear homeland. Hopefully by the end of it, we'd reach something close to a Socialist EU, only spanning much farther than Europe. Good luck to those who want to try destroying the idea of the nation state because it's impossible.

I'd say we did a pretty good job in the original thread, but then short now nostalgia got this one opened and somehow we still have a government.

The national state was created within the lifetime of the people in-quest, does not exist in vast parts of the world (in Russia, in America, in China, in Turkey, in Iran, etc.), and has little reason to exist outside the specific historic circumstances of a rising bourgeoisie that demands, for the purpose of creating of a big market, that small states cohere under uniform laws. The national program as applied to already-existing big multinational countries (division of small nationalities and their domination by other already-existing big powers) is already a disaster in the Balkans and the Lowlands.

And again, good luck on that, but you can't kill an idea. Many people have tried, and failed hard. I don't wish to follow that path to failure this quest.

edit: you might be able to suppress patriotic sentiment in Germany, but WE ARE NOT OMNIPOTENT. People need to get that through their heads that not everything we try to do will be a success, or that the population will like it, or that everyone else outside of Germany would follow our way of doing things and try to kill the nation-state, unless you were to force it upon them like a damn imperialist. Also, just because the idea of the nation state is young, doesn't mean that it isn't STRONG. The age of an idea does not represent it's strength.

speaking about nationalism what about our national language, i think a creation of a universal language (instead of regional or national ones) ala Esperanto would be optimal, especially when we're undergoing ethnogenesis it'd make adopting it far easier. a universal proletariat needs a universal language not bogged down by petty regional identities, for everyone is a proletariat first and foremost.

It's worth remembering that we're somewhat of a multi class movement too, in that we ally workers and landowning yeomen. But it's true that we had to have a second round with the national bourgeoisie so that's not very conclusive.

I have some hope that relying on our help for success will be helpful in pushing movements towards putting the working class and peasantry in charge even if they also wield nationalism, because unlike with a bourgeois patron, the national bourgeoisie isn't favoured in dealing with us (the opposite really) but we'll see if that's sufficient.

There's no reason to assume minorities will be conveniently geographically grouped so I have no reason to believe local government will be especially helpful in handling needs for language and culture institutions catering to them. And we don't really want to encourage clustering as the only way to get those perks. If they still decide on it, good, but they shouldn't get cut off if they want to move out.

@Kolya @Sara @Whenyouseeyou @Fakkk I'm not sure why, but your votes are not consolidated in the tally with the plans you're voting for. Perhaps you folks could try to copy and paste the "main" plans that aren't tallied separately?

That aside, could voters of plans which have votes below the 10 percent threshold (7 votes atm) switch to one of "ISWC Internationalism" or "The moderate case for war"? I think we need to maximize the amount of agendas that would be enacted next turn, since it's unlikely for the leading plans to amass enough votes to get more of their lower-priority planks.
