Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

[X] Seek a mutual apology. And better work practices, even if it delays construction and makes the hall a bit less grand. (Improves Mutual opinion between civilians. 20% Chance that project will come short of goals, reducing benefits. Loss of face if incomplete)

As others have said, I'd rather risk a loss of face than anything going wrong with the actual negotiations.

"Do you truly think the actual truth of the matter is so unimportant?"

He frowned at her. Ahead the partly constructed meeting hall loomed, the frame was mostly up, a large long hall with spacious windows and a triangular roof, worked with tiles carved with alternating cultural symbols.

"It is, like your context, good to know but beside the point. Though swords have not yet been drawn this is a conflict. I admit, I find you strange, Lady Ling. If you wish to avoid conflict so, why are you so determined to present a yielding face to the world, guaranteeing that it comes sooner?"

[X] Seek a mutual apology. Pull additional translators and workers for better rotation of shifts and hopefully keep the stress down. (20% chance of additional negative event during summit. Project definitely completes on time.)

That's the old vote text; please update (Small -> 20%) for simplicity of tallying. (I'm not voting for that option though)

Worth the risk, and who needs face anyway :V

After looking at both of the options, I think option 2 is best.

[ ] Seek a mutual apology. And a return to the plan of alternating meeting places, this project was too ambitious. (No further benefits from project, loss of face for yourself and Renxiang, no further chances of negative events)

Looking at things, option 1 is objectively the worst option, as we'll publicly go back on our word and dhow that small incidents can easily derail our plans. Not a good look for something that's supposed to launch our political careers.

[ ] Seek a mutual apology. Pull additional translators and workers for better rotation of shifts and hopefully keep the stress down. (20% chance of additional negative event during summit. Project definitely completes on time.)

Option 3 looks "better" on the surface, but it really isn't. Firstly, it ultimately ignores the cause of the current incident, which is the stress on the workers, hoping that throwing more people at the problem would keep incidents down.

It completes the project on time, sure, but it also has a chance to bring a negative event during the actual summit turn. After all our hard work, I would find it really frustrating if a negative event like this occurs, especially since this one was nearly enough to derail one of our main plans to show unity.

Plus, we are already speculating that the summit would be attacked or somewhat sabotaged. That's already one negative event right there. I'd rather it stays as a hypothetical no 1 which can bring thr Empire and the WS together against a shared enemy, rather than one that breaks trust more.

Option 2, however, builds on a lot of the things we've done. Firstly, it builds on what Ling Qi has been doing during this arc. When faced with the problem, Ling Qi sought to understand it fully before arriving at the conclusion that both sides were at fault, and the stress made things tense and led to this.

The best solution is to improve work practices, so that the tension doesn't happen again. Plus, it fulfills one of our goals for picking the shared summit location! It improves worker relations, which shows that the Empire and the White Sky can work well together to create something beautiful.

Plus, it builds on our role as Renxiang's left hand. We're it only her diplomat and general problem solver, but also her guide. We're supposed to be the mouth of the people, who tell her when her plans and laws are too tight and unrealistic for the people beneath.

This is one of those moments, and unfortunately, it has many real world parallels. Are we caring bosses, who will ensure that our employees get better treatment and workload, at the cost of revenue and deadlines? Or are we the bosses who throw more manpower at a problem with a clear solution, hoping it would get better (or least keep people occupied and distracted until the deadline is due)?

I hope we become the former, and actually work on this. Yes, there is a chance of a loss of face that the site will be incomplete, but rushing a symbol of unity to completion without any actual unity or bonding is worse, imo.

Plus, if anything, it still works as a sign of unity, imo. We still create a shared structure which shows the Empire and the WS can build something together, even if it's incomplete. We may lose some face, but it can probably be attributed to newbies being too ambitious without considering time constraints, rather than a prospective loss if face if a negative event between the Empire and the White Sky happens during the actual summit.

And, most importantly, imo. We caused this problem, and I would rather own up to the people who we're hurting rather than try and ignore it.

Uhh Cao Chun isn't gonna care about this guy's lack of objectivity. They share the same views, thats why Jin Tae was picked.
No they don't? Cao Chun cares about some purity of the Empire that he believes actually exists, and probably will until his Way breaks like Xin's husband's did. Jin Tae has shown no care for anything but appearances.
About the vote, I'm kinda leaning towards this one. But I'm not really convinced. "Negative event" is to unconcise to properly evaluate risks. It still sounds as something we want to avoid, tough.
It'll probably be rolled.

The upsides are things that i want, the downsides are things i think we can live with.

But the master is professional enough to put his biases aside in an investigation till he gets the clearer picture, and is willing to change his opinions atleast slightly when offered compelling arguments like during our first meeting with him. His apprentice... isn't.
The Jin was perfectly professional, when he needed to be. He presented a united front to the outsiders and kept all concerns to private conversation with us. And frankly, if he's needling us to figure out our motivations and philosophy, he's probably doing it because his master told him to.
