Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Damn.
Something very logical in hindsight, but not something I actually thought of.
Well, I am, for one, definitely for making an example out of it about how go after Molly's minions is a bad idea.
This said, it will have bad repercussions either way.

We could also get a Charm to blow up all guns in a large area around us.
A bit weird thing here. You are correct, it should be possible and easy. However, for some weird reason the possibility is pretty overlooked.
Mages would (of course) do it, but for others - it's not discussed directly, as far as I remember. Though, anything that created fire at distance should do it. like "create element" directly at gun.

Why?
That seems to me like it would be the primary use of Erupting Fury Rebuke.

For Mages it's less clear,
They do have to aim their enemy-targetting spells usually and there are rules for aiming at small targets like the foe's gun or head. It increases the difficuly of the attack.

Not if you have space, you can auto target at higher levels. Like 3 dots.

Do to how combat works a group of max stat mortals can be a major threat to pretty much anything.
On top of what DP said, there's also buy in issue.

A mortal with max stamina, max dex, max strength, max sword has spent a significant amount of their resources on getting good. They're closer to a comic book super solider than anything else.

All the blood, sweat, tears, and probably copious steroid abuse buys them something like 10 combat dice. A respectable amount to be sure, but it's basically a foot in the door.

Elder vampires and the like will probably have stuff that will give them higher initiative, better soak, and a bag full of tricks on top of being in the same damage range.

Obviously the human can try more stuff too, but they've got a heavy investment in place already that makes branching out hard.

They could take a lot of the creatures out there, but there's a cutoff where just having big stats isn't enough.
depends what you mean. but in WoD... just no. Vamps of all kind are more vulnerable to blades then bullets and for example werewolves all can access Lvl 2 'spell' that would jam all guns AOE. The exceptions are rare, like Technocracy or Wicked City and even they still use melee.
It's worth remembering that we aren't playing WoD, or even ExWoD exactly; It's DF using ExWoD mechanics.

In the DF there is a point where guns and muggles aren't really that important anymore, but there's a bias in the things allowed to wander the mortal world towards things that are at least annoyed by them.

There's a reason that even the strongest combat wizards on the planet tend to carry around a gun and use it on gribblies that piss them off.

Big guns and decent training wouldn't be enough for this, but I'd give some well armed and armored ghouls a good shot at putting down garden variety Akuma, white and reds up to their first century, Malks, and stuff like that.
How would Gard take a last minute recruitment phonecall?
Because I think Molly is IC justified in pulling on every string she currently has access to.
Bad plan; we don't want to negotiate with anyone even loosely affiliated with Odin while desperate.

He's nice to Harry in the books, but it's worth remembering that Odin is very dangerous and isn't shy about pursuing his own interests.

This is the guy who managed to survive with a reputation for being nice and generous in Winter, if under another name.

That's basically showing up to a prison full of violent criminals wearing a jumpsuit labeled "Princess Blowjob" and ending up forcing people to put some respect on it when they call you by your title.

He isn't the devil, but even the world's saltiest pigeon himself would read anything that guy wrote at least twice before signing it.

It's not that guns are not relevant in WoD.
A Werewolf with the right Gifts can be quite terrifying with an Assault Rifle, especially if it is also a Fetish, or so I have been told (haven't tried to figure out relevant combos myself since it's not relevant to this quest). And that is despite being natural killer-machines with a strong melee-combat form.

It's just that Vampires in particular of all the supernatural creatures are unbothered by guns, due to their corpse-like nature.
They soak bullets as bashing damage and they halve the total damage (before or after soaking, I forgot), unless someone takes a considerable increase in difficulty to aim for the head.
If you want to kill vamps even a little bit efficiently with guns you need special ammunition, or special magic, like our Transcendent Anathema trick.

Mages, Werewolves, Fey and others do have to worry about guns though.

That makes sense, I'm just pointing out that 2/4 DF vampire species can be be put down by guns until they're pretty old. The black court is the most resistant, but switching to incendiary ammunition is enough to make them dangerous to the young ones again anyway.

I wouldn't expect this sort of thing to work very well on the greater Akuma or any sort of vampire with more than a century or so behind them, but building special big game shotguns for them should make them significantly more dangerous against things below that cutoff.

It basically comes down to Ye Olde D&D distinction: Does this beasty have an internally recognizable anatomy, is it vulnerable to precision damage? Will it be more upset if I make a small hole in its head as opposed to its left leg? If the answer to those questions is no, as is the case with Yin unbalanced Wan Kuei, Black Court Vampires and zombies for instance shooting them with guns is not going to do much to them.

That's pretty much how I'd model them too.
Whites are almost human, including the vulnerability for those without good Fortitude.
Reds are tougher, but putting holes in their stomach seems to do major damage.
Blacks are as tough against bullets as WoD-Vamps (including the relative weakness to fire).
Jades are Wan Kuei, so also very tough against guns (and a Yin-Imbalanced one is also resistant to Fire).

Unless they're magic bullets like with our Transcendant Anathema, but that only helps us personally, not our minions, until we get the ability to make magical ammunition.

In the case of say a Black Court Vampire TA would not manifest as them suddenly caring about the small hole in their forehead and more about whatever part of their anatomy you shot now being on fire with all consuming hateflame. (Mechanically it's not lethal, its aggravated).

and a Yin-Imbalanced one is also resistant to Fire).
Is that going to influence the effectiveness of Dresden's trick with the ley lines? Fire seems like a good bet, but if the greater Akuma's resistant then it could be less of a problem.

Speaking of that though, it's worth considering going after the greater Akuma sooner rather than later form more than minion reasons. We don't want him to notice and fix Dresden's alteration to their ritual.

Dresden's trick was not specifically it is the opposite of what he saw as best he could. Dresden sees tainted Yin as kind of like the Dead Sea 'it is technically water and it has a lot of stuff in it that would not be poisonous if it were less extreme, but that is not the case here'. So his solution is to bring on fire, warmth, life to evaporate the stagnant power. It is not just fire.

We're not that desperate, and Molly is a fair bargainer.
I dont think there's harm in asking.

Shouldnt need shotguns.
The British were using .303 cal incendiary ammunition in their fighter machineguns back in WW2, and the US copied it for .30 and .50 cal machineguns. Payload was nitrocellulose.

For reference, left to right is British .303, Japanese 6.5mm Arisaka, and US .30-06 Springfield

Rush order mercenaries seems like it'd be costly itself, and if they feel like pulling anything we're less likely to catch it.

We could probably work something out, but the trouble is time. I'm thinking we're better off hitting the greater Akuma as hard as we can as early as we can so that he has minimal time to modify his plan.

Its not unknown.

The short story Heorot was Gard calling Harry as backup on essentially zero notice to save a virgin kidnapped by a grendelkin for sexual assault, procreation and eating, in that order. It hasnt happened yet; Timeline says it would canonically happen in 2 years, a month before the events of Small Favor.

I think its foolhardy to attempt to beat the daddy akuma back to its lair; dragon lines around here mean it almost certainly gets there before us. And I want to make sure that we arent in a situation where Eiko can approach us from behind.

Shame about Adem dying. At least in the sense that any of our minions died, but honestly he was the one most likely to cause us trouble in the future. At least besides Isabella.

-[X]STUNT: You're the last to emerge from Lydia's Cayenne SUV, waiting until the very last moment to slide out of the can of bleach in the cupholder. As you take a moment to orient yourself in the early morning twilight, Lydia is feeding the parking meter, then stepping past Brother Devsimar to leave it clearly visible on the inside of her windshield. Your father gestures with his chin "Jaslin is five minutes that way." Silently, you begin to walk. They follow.

RATIONALE
This deals with Eiko; we dont need reinforcements for the akuma showing up from behind us when we're committed.
We almost certainly have the skills to subvert her, so we should try.
At worst, we deal with her away from the daddy akuma.

Bring Lydia to see Eiko. Authority of the Psychopomp is -2 against both ghosts and physical undead, and is a passive.
Brother Devsimar because he has local knowledge and experience against
Michael because he's Molly's moral anchor and where necessary .

Also, they are all guys with protection against the shikome trick that bleeds temporary Willpower.
Which is why I'd prefer to leave Harry behind.

Harry + Mouse + Murphy + Thomas at Carpenter household with Charity, getting fitted out. With Black Rider.
Nothing for Mouse, but we know there is armor that fits all three of them because they wore it to Arctis Tor.
Lydia has Kattrin's jacket + whatever armor she wears under it; she shouldnt need anything else.

No idea if Brother Devsimar, or shih in general, are averse to wearing armor.
If he isnt, get him something.

@DragonParadox

Going to note that since Lydia has had Command The Dead since our last XP spend?
I am going to stunt that she has two or three pre-animated wooden golem in the trunk of her SUV, in nondescript looking carryons.
She spent 1 Essence apiece at the beginning of the month, and they work for the rest of the month.

Sure, just don't expect them to be anything fancy, she has no crafting skill so these are just mass produced puppets she ordered online.

I guess you can order mannequins online with no trouble and on relativly short notice.

It won't scare the vampires, but if her car ever gets stopped by the police and she has two full-sized mannequins in the trunk that may or may not be moving when nobody looks, then there are gonna be some stories to tell.
