Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Why are you assuming he's a mook?
Why would one of the Big hitters go help a youngster with his first hunt?? Even if he wansnt a normal youngster, they wouldnt have selected someone like her as his first victim. This is clearly a plot with the only purpose to eliminate some evidencie Green had, which means this is mooks job. No old one would risk to get caught in this place and spill the beans, so if I was the evil leader of an evil organisation I would send some mooks around in the area with another job like "help mook 2 with his first hunt" and wait until they killed her.

Why not?
Winter's number two woman thought it a good idea to help a sixteen year old apprentice rebelling against his master's attempt to enslave him. Queen Mab has been hanging around a baby wizard for around five years now.

Its the Dresdenverse. There's always something hinky going on, and a lot of big hitters have longstanding schemes.
Until we have an idea of who this is, we have no idea of his power level or motives.
Could be a mook. Could be someone flying under the radar.

Its worth remembering that the setting is a Dresdenverse/World of Darkness cross.
I dont think its safe to assume that everything we see will be from the Dresdenverse cosmology.
Even the Dresdenverse had at least four types of vampires we havent seen yet.

[X] Leap in to kill the vampires, try to save their victim
-[X] Go for the old one first, the younger might be salvagable. Activate Steel Skin. Be ready to use IPM the second the Whampires try anything funny with their mind-tricks.
-[X] (Stunt) You do not hesitate a moment, even as you feel your skin harden and take a brazen sheen you are already breaking through the window, the edges of shattered glass scraping harmlessly against your skin. Your sword is in your hand without thought or effort and you see the first hint of terror slowly form on the old monster's face as you close in for the first blow.

I don't like this last chance votes at all. If accepted that just leads to more victims in the future. These vampires need to leave the house as our minions or dead.

Not knowing his power is no reason to automatically assume we have a lord of the outer night doing the job of a mook in front of us, it's clearly a disposal of someone coupled with an initiation, the old guy is way more likely to be a mook than anything else, and definitely not anyone really important even if he's not a lowly mook.

I'm not even particularly comfortable with making them minions. Would much rather just kill them, but I do believe they need to live at least long enough to answer some pointed questions.

With that in mind, I'm gonna change my vote.

  1. You can fly through yeah
  2. He's a white court vampire, though he does not look... entirely well hence the description of him not being just ugly but ill
Huh, if he's looking ill, I wonder if it could be because he came here expecting a lonely widow full of despair who could easily be pushed to suicide but instead found her full of hope for a better future? Maybe he took the brunt of the feedback to shield the fledgling?

The older one probably, but the younger one seems to just be learning the ropes. My likely and fairly good result is that the young one accepts and we kill the older one.

But if they both accept I am alright with having an old vampire under our thumb. We can tell have Thomas manage them. Also they don't get the option to turn down having cyberdevils watching them.

Could also be they forced the threshold, which, or, if Greene was actually aware of the supernatural, some minor ward he could have set up.

-[X] STUNT: "Step away from her, open the door, so I don't need to bother breaking it, and stay very still and quiet, vampire. I will have questions for you, after I am done with her. Depending on your answers, you may be allowed to live" you say, your voice projecting beyond normality, as a sudden blast of winter's chill permeates the house.
Too much stick. This seems likely to make them flee in a panic which isn't actually what we want.

For me the steps seem to be
1. We intimidate them into opening the door.
2. We draw attention to the fact that their hunger stopped bothering them as they served us.
3. We make them minions with their firsts tasks being to help save their former victim and deal with Green's killer.

If they resist any of these steps then we kill them.

No matter how good our intimidation attempt is I'm worried that the older vampire will pay willpower to ignore it and then just run away. And if this is a hit, may decide to finish the hit before they run.

Lets not to give away how dangerous we are until we are in a position to prevent them from finishing off their target. Ie, open up with a punch to the face. We can talk after they have been restrained.

Legit question. Does Molly really have any non-lethal or "incapacitate" only battle skills? I'm under the impression the flaming nuclear hellsword isn't really equipped to not smite a biyatch.

There are intermediate steps between shit tier mook and final boss.

Literally the next mainline Dresden book had the heirs to two White Court houses doing precisely this sort of thing.
The previous book, the one where Molly Exalted and the quest started, had the nephew of the Pale King doing this sort of work, only specifically to Dresden. Assumptions can be deadly.

Thank you.
This still looks hinky as shit.

Draft vote in thirty minutes. I need to look at our options.

We don't have to light our sword on hellfire and Vampires (even Whites) are relativly tough.

So we just use violence that should be lethal and call it a capture, like we did for the nazi-werwolves.

Killing them is tricky as we will need to dispose of their bodies (I am fairly sure whamps don't turn to ash when killed). TTC cremation should work, but it's still something to take into account.

You might be right. There are flaws with your reasoning, however: Mercy in Servitude is only effective if they don't like their hunger. Given how the teen looked, this might not be the case. Not all whamps want to get rid of their hungers. We don't have a way to ensure their loyalty at all at the moment, except by super intimidating them.

So, I figure we put the fear of us I to them, and any minionhood motions can be done when we are interrogating them.

Rereading in order to write a vote,:
"What are you doing there girly?" his voice, in contrast to his appearance is soft, almost sickeningly kind. "Best be off we won't be needing another one today. Go on then..."
I was wondering how he could be sure that Molly wouldnt call the police, or scream and alert the neighborhood.
Then I saw this:
OOC: Will post the rolls in a bit, but a lot of them were auto-successes between the -3 DC to perception and the -1 to all rolls from BSM. Also you won initiative on the only vampire who is aware of you, the girl is out of it.
Distinct chance he's already used a mind whammy to encourage us to leave, and we just didnt notice because it slid off without making any impact.

A lot would depend on if this is a hit, or if this is just some whamp dad initiating his daughter or something. Hmm... @DragonParadox do the vampires have any familial resemblance?

I just had a horrible idea about how dude got in here.

@DragonParadox
QUESTION
Is Old Vampire wearing a white shirt?
What color is his suit? How modern does it look?
Can we see a cellphone, or a cellphone bulge? What of a gun bulge? We're rolling a Perception buff, after all.

They do seem to have a similar face structure

He is wearing a white shirt, tan suit that looks old-fashioned but not archaic, no cell phone that you can see but yet to something that looks like a gun bulge.

White shirt with tie.
Tan/brown suit, old fashioned/conservative but not archaic.
Gun bulge, meaning concealed carry. In the home of a federal agent.

There's a non-zero chance he's also a federal law enforcement colleague, which would explain why he got invited past her threshold with a concealed gun, and how he knew she would be home at this time in order to bring a related fledgeling.
Probably FBI as well. Maybe ATF. Maybe Marshal's Service. Outside chance he's CPD, Chicago police, who used to work with Greene.

Not exactly unprecedented.
The short story Jury Duty had a very young Raith working in the Chicago DA's office.
That complicates matters.

EDIT
Going to note that cop is an excellent vocation for a fear or despair vampire.

Fake being under. Leave. Call Murphy with the guy's description?
The woman dies then. That's not an optimal solution.

We could still trivially murder them and cremate their bodies using TTC. We might not want to, though. Depends on why they are here. Because we don't know it's a hit, It could plausibly be Greene's coworker noticing her depression, and using it to initiate his daughter / niece / cousin / whatever. It could also be a hit, and the elder vampire is the one who sent Greene against Dresden.

[X] Try to command the vampires to stop and open the door for you
-[X] intimidation excellency
-[X] Tool transcending Constructs to administer aid.

I added a line about the gun to the vote.
