Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

soooo not to rush is vote gonna end soon? Also this isn't because what I voted for is winning I was asking if it was when it was losing too. Just its been over 13 hours.
Hopefully DP is sleeping right now, so the vote is likely to be open for at least another 6 or 7 hours.

Is counterspelling even really an option for them?
DF magic users seem to default to dispelling things by shooting the caster.
We see some curse breaking, but that never happens in combat conditions that I'm aware of.
They do.
The magic swords that the Wardens carry cut through magic and magic items, disrupting magic. And there are items and magic pacts that convey magic resistance or immunity.

If you read White Night, you'll see the duel where Ramorez and Dresden killed two White Court vamps, Ramirez used his sword to disrupt the bands on one of the Whamps arms.
The Wardens do that type of combat time counterspelling all the time.

Its just not really relevant in combat time unless you are very, very good or have an artifact to offload some of the heavy lifting to.

Molly is probably going to be very interested in combat counterspelling, since most of her offensive options dont require magic, just charms. So denying her enemies of magic....
Shouldn't we get mind hand for flight?
Isnt it better or...?
We can simply buy Flight with By Rage Recast, and we intend to at the next XP spending interval.
Mind-Hand Manipulation is more expensive(8Xp vs 6XP) and requires a roll to get enough successes for flight, and while its relatively easy, better to take the lowhanging fruit.

I wouldn't count it as practical, or even feasible, if the most common mechanism seen among the most powerful and skilled mortal combat casters on the planet is to use enchanted objects that only one master enchanter could make.

Still, the ruling is the ruling, so we need to be prepared for it.

Only one person is capable of making those swords, and by the point in the story where the quest is currently taking place I do not think she even can anymore.

Wizards favor artisan work and secrets. And antimagic is a danger to wizards.
And there really werent so many combat wizards that mass production was a concern; a force of less than 500 wizards among a group with 300 year plus natural lifespans means you have a turnover of maybe 10 or 20 new guys a year.

No point spamming the things, or doing research on improving it unless a war with evil wizards breaks out.
Oops.

She can't.
Not since October last year when the Capriocorpus stole her body.
New body, reduced facility for magic.

Gonna take time to recover. Plus there's a Black Council member fucking with her head.
Unless she takes a deal from us.

I meant in the sense that if the best way any of them had to counterspell was to use her stuff, and when they couldn't get any more no one had a ready replacement, indicated that it's very difficult to pull off on the fly in any real capacity.

But I can see why removing it and rebalancing their skill set would be too much of a pain to bother with if being able to dispell things is a core assumption of the magic mechanics in use here.

If you take Green Nimbus Flare as your shintai signature charm, you can make the bodies of everyone in the area you've killed explode into radioactive green flames that burn everyone within five yards of the body for soul-searing aggravated damage. Conveniently, these flames do no damage to the Infernal, so you can use them to burn yourself clean of any grime.

Not gonna lie, that's a hell of a flex.

Alternatively, the World-Grinding Devastation charm summons demon maggots to basically fill the area and devour everything you don't want them to devour. This would probably make them great cleaners, and could substitute for a shower for everyone they are instructed not to eat. Also they'd make great exterminators if you had a pest problem. Cockroaches got nothing on demon maggots.

hmmm I feel this would lead to some aftereffects we don't want like burning buildings. wait everyone or everything does it only harm living(undead) beings?

Everyone and everything not immune to radioactive soulfire and standing too close to an exploding body.

If you want target discrimination, go for the demon maggots. They're actually insanely good for that, although they automatically spare people groveling at the Infernal even if you don't instruct them to. On the other hand, groveling has consequences.

what are said consequences? also maggots don't seem to help with our own grime or well blood on walls and such.

The earlier discussion about soaking damage gave me a question: Does All-Devouring Depths: The Choking Sea functionally make the character immune to projectile weaponry? Firing any form of projectile weapon through >10 yards of water seems doomed to failure.

I haven't actually played Exalted and I know that this charm probably wasn't intended for that use, but the engineer in me demands that I ask.

...The maggots eat the grime off the walls or the grime covering you? Then at the end of the scene they return to the Hell of Burrowing Maggots. Basically everything within (Essence x 30 yards) is covered in Demon Maggots that do a lethal damage per turn to anyone you don't tell them not to eat - this lasts for an entire scene. It seems perfectly reasonable to stunt them eating bodies or eating you clean like those little cleaner fish in the ocean though. They follow your direction on what to eat and what not basically.
