[X] THE AWAKENED ONE RETURNS...

I heavily recommend this one. I've got this feeling that we are picking the first demonic incursion.

I don't want war demons from blood and gore, I don't want our power and foes to be tied to the lunar cycle, but that last one sounds suitably eldritch.

[X] Null Physical

Now that I think about it more this might be an underrated pick. More than just stopping instant OTK it also add resistance to status effects which aren't only just paralyze or, burns but also Charm and Confusion.

This might help strengthen our mental state if we take it.
Sure, but remember, we are a close combat fighter.

Null physical on us is a huge troll, because it means we literally can't be hit with anything truly effective in our chosen range.

Yes, instadeath is scary, but if this is anything like persona games there will be protective spells, and besides, they are rare and have low odds.

Status effects are annoying but not world ending.

Meanwhile anything can throw a punch. Or can't in our case. :p

[X] Null Physical
[X] THE MOON IS CALLING...

I like the implications of the moon more.
Because, whatever it is there, is probably going to be neutral in the law and chaos scale.

Woke up to a whole discussion going on. You guys are putting a lot of thought into this!
It's mainly because previous updates were basically a would have been a cutscene, which don't have much on the "choice" part even if they were pretty entertaining.

[] Null Physical

Unless they're intended to be a bit mysterious and misleading, what are the meanings of each? By context reading the replies I'm getting Null Physical is immunity to physical attacks (does the element of the physical attack matter? are there elemental physical attacks?)

I just realized Mami is going to be so confused in the morning.

(does the element of the physical attack matter? are there elemental physical attacks?)
In the video games, if an attack has an element, then they count as that element. I don't remember any skills that deals more than one damage type. So a hypothetical 'Ice Blade' would deal ice damage.

Physical is a damage type.

The default "Attack" action almost always does Physical damage (or some finer-divided damage type based on equipment if the game recognizes such things e.g. Persona 3 distinguishes Strike, Slash, and Pierce, Persona 4 just has Physical, and Persona 5 distinguishes Physical vs. Gun), and skills that do Physical damage are usually cast from hit points instead of mana. As the poster above says, a spell that throws shards of ice at you would do Cold damage, not Physical.

Null Physical means attacks with Physical damage have no effect at all... unless the attacker has the Pierce passive skill, which lets them ignore Resist Phys (half damage), Null Phys (no effect of any kind from Physical damage), and Absorb Phys (regain health from Physical damage and ignore any attached debuff). Repel Phys (throw Physical damage back at the attacker), however, defeats Pierce.

And I guess Repel Fire is the sme for the fire element attacks? .... searchs away, there has to be somee wiki.... ok, that mekes sense.

(searches again)

Hellish Mask is immunity to status aliments... that sounds as either too useful or almost useless.

[X] Hellish Mask

Next, is there any meaning on the Modifiers? Looking around "The Moon is calling" brings how there's some moon phase system, "The Awakened One returns" brings some passive skills, and "Blood and Gore" doesn't get me anything. Anyone has some better idea of what those can be?

And I guess Repel Fire is the sme for the fire element attacks?
Wanna know the funny thing about the Repel x type damage affinities*? The enemies that you don't want to hit with that element are usually on the list of enemies that use it.

*Demons have inbuilt weaknesses/immunities/resistances/ect. Gear can confer them to the Mc as well.

Guns count as Ranged Damage. I've made a distinction between Melee and Ranged "elements".
So the Null is for melee?

If it's any consolation, she probably won't. You're on her friend list after saving Madoka and Sayaka, after all.
And impressive feat, considering she hasn't updated it in years.

Another question, will the Phys Null protect us from damage if we are the projectile? Like say being yeeted through a building? Or falling at terminal velocity? Asking these because if its not cleared, someone is gonna try to rules lawyer it.

Actually, wanna know what would be cool? Getting Hugin and Munin as demon. That has to exist right?

Imagine if the first demon Mami ever sees us with is just those two Ravens, and suddenly she's eying her screwdriver for actual powers and checking wether we have any fancy disguises up our sleves. :p

(For those that don't know, Odin is actually big on disguising himself and on being a bit of a trickster. He's also big on ruleslawyering. Guy invented runic writing through sacrificing himself to himself in quite a bit of a stunt. Granted I'm only drawing on Snorris accounting but it's not like we have a pile of sources.)
