Grand Army of the Republic: A Star Wars Plan Quest

Because as far as I am concerned, the rest of the Kamino system is uninhabited and I feel it doesn't make sense for Kamino to have other inhabitable worlds in the same system.
Feels a bit weird to omit for what doesn't seem like too fleshed out of a reason, but fair enough, never been the type to argue over QM fiat. It's also barely even brought up when I was checking it out - a barebones description of a terrestrial planet within the same system and zero information elsewise doesn't make for much to go off of.

It's a bit late now but the lack of alternative options certainly hurts, ugh. It feels like we're mostly relying on crits to unlock branching paths for choices we can make; I imagine it makes it more manageable for a QM though.

Though it also means they may be more suspicious about the gift-wrapped army when it gets revealed. Which might be good for everyone not-sith. 🤷‍♂️
Since for better or worse, the army buildup played a major role in everyone else building up, including the CIS the clones would presumably be fighting.

Those bits that aren't just 'numbers go up' are the best part of this fic and too far between.

I get the point of the quest was to be number heavy, it's a management sim style question after all, and I'm interested to see how this would have changed things, but that doesn't mean I don't still wish we got more asides to give characterisation and expand a bit. The wrap ups of each choice and its outcome just don't match up for me.

It's not a trap for the Jedi if that what you meant.

It's a trap for the sith that the sith thought it was a trap for the Jedi.

That is mainly because this quest is a side project for me and my first foray into the planquest style of questing. I never intended to get too much into the narrative and characterisation of this quest.

Original Goals (Q1 25 BBY to Q4 23 BBY)
Construct 5 Dreadnoughts. (+15 SS)
Complete Cloning Operations (Phase 12) by Q4 25 BBY (+5 SS)
Complete Cloning Operations (Phase 13) by Q4 24 BBY (+5 SS)
Complete Cloning Operations (Phase 14) by Q4 23 BBY (+5 SS)

Infrastructure (8 Dice): +20

[] Expand into Tipoca City (Phase 9)
Tipoca City is the capital city of Kamino and where your initial cloning operations are located. You will need more room for your operations to expand and to do so, you need to clear up space in Tipoca City to be used for your purposes.
(36/900, 15 Resources per Die) (++++ Facilities)

[] Expand into Timira City (Phase 5)
Timira City is a secondary major settlement located in the northern regions of the planet. You have expanded your operations to Timira City, but there is still plenty of space that you can make use of over there.
(2/500, 15 Resources per Die) (+++ Facilities)

[] Expand into Tidema City (Phase 6)
Tidema City is a secondary major settlement located in the southern regions of the planet. You have expanded your operations to Tidema City, but there is still plenty of space that you can make use of over there.
(4/600, 15 Resources per Die) (++ Facilities)

[] Expand into Tibara City (Phase 6)
Tibara City is a secondary major settlement located in the eastern regions of the planet. You have expanded your operations to Tibara City, but there is still plenty of space that you can make use of over there.
(90/600, 15 Resources per Die) (++ Facilities)

[] Expand into Titala City (Phase 5)
Titala City is a secondary major settlement located in the western regions of the planet. You have expanded your operations to Titala City, but there is still plenty of space that you can make use of over there.
(280/500, 15 Resources per Die) (+++ Facilities)

[] Construct Indoor Farms (Phase 6)
With all of these clones that you will be making, you are going to need to feed them all. While purchasing all of it from the nearby Abrion sector can be done if it proves necessary, you can hide just how many people who need to feed by constructing some farms on Kamino.
(59/600, 15 Resources per Die) (---- Facilities, +++++ Logistics)

[] Local Shield Generators (Phase 2)
As you continue to build up Kamino, you may want to look into protecting your investments. Shield generators would be expensive, but setting up one in each major city would be a good way to minimise any damage done by an attack, be it a raid or a full-scale invasion.
(1/300, 50 Resources per Die) (-- Facilities)

[] Planetary Defence Network (Phase 2)
As you continue to build up Kamino, you may want to look into protecting your investments. Setting up a series of defensive outposts and turbolaser turrets will greatly help fend off any invaders and latter stages could include weapon emplacements capable of engaging warships in orbit.
(36/200, 30 Resources per Die) (-- Facilities)

[] Off-World Expansion (Phase 5)
While Kamino has proven sufficient so far, you are rapidly approaching the limits of the watery world's ability to support a project of this size. As you have no intention of slowing down, you will need to expand your operations to other planets though this will make secrecy harder to maintain.
(160/300, 25 Resources per Die, +1 E per Die) (++++ Facilities)

Industry (10 Dice): +30

Training (7 Dice): +30

[] Expand Commando Training (Phase 14)
With the completion of the commando courses, you will have a small batch of clone commandos once the trainees are old enough. They are a marginal amount compared to the rest of the army however and further expansions are required to increase the number of clone commandos that will be trained. Fortunately, Kal Skirita's new methods should make the training process quicker and more efficient.
(16/100, 25 Resources per Die) (+ Commandos per turn, -Trainers)

[] Clone Trainers (Phase 23)
As the clone cadets begin to come of age and finish their training, it is possible to start them to work assisting your Mandalorian trainers. While it would take some time to give them the proper instruction on how to train others, it could be done and help supplement your reserves of available teachers and trainers. After some serious failures and inefficiencies with the previous method, you have gone from training an entire batch of clones at once to training the adult clones with the most attitude for the task.
(13/100, 15 Resources per Die) (++ Trainers)

Research (7 Die): +20

[] Burying Secrets
The clone army is supposed to be a secret which means this whole affair is supposed to be secret. When too many things begin to start pointing in your direction, you need to bury them before people come poking out. Of particular note, the Jedi Order has been actively investigating what they can of your operations.

Another new turn and not much else. You know the drill by now.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

The agents of the Sith attempt to divert the Jedi investigators by planting evidence that COunt Dooku and his Separatist Movement may be responsible for buying all of the military hardware. Unfortunately for you, the Jetiise are having none of it and you don't know how, but they see through the fake evidence for what it is. It doesn't help them much in finding you, but it does mean wasted effort on your part.
Jango: "I'm begining to think that these Sith are just a bunch of Dark Jetii with delusions of grandeur, cause I really can't fathom them staying a secret for a thousand years."
Seriously, for a faction whose entire point staying under the radar the Baneite Sith of this quest are consistently terrible at actually foiling Jedi investigations.

The Jedi have no clue that it is the Sith they are investigating. They can find the Sith proxies and the activities of the Sith, but they have no idea just who they are investigating.

In other words. The Sith are good at hiding their existance, but it seems the moment their organizations face jdi scrutiny, they simply fall aprt, only succeding in hiding their masters...
Really not what one would expect from what is practically an ancient conspiracy dedicated to taking down the republic.😅

I mean, maybe the Jedi who are on this case are just that good at investigating. It's not necessary just because the Sith (or their Agents) fuck up.

Not really. The Sith are in their endgame and are undertaking a massive operation that cannot be fully hidden from the rest of the galaxy. They don't need to fully hide their operation, they just need to hide it long enough for their plans to be carried out.

We should consider working on these soonish. Be a shame if the quest ended and our lack of proper orbital defenses caused a major setback. Also I think it's okay to augment our infastructure with free dice. We are far enough ahead for me to consider it okay.

Considering what we need for the last phase of Clone Production (64), I feel that we might have no choice but just give up on the last phase and load up orbital defences.

I think you underestimate just how many facilities we need to actually accomplish our objectives.

Facilities: Overwhelming Surpluses (+30)

[] Expand Clone Production (Phase 13)
You have completed the initial batch of clones, but the army is still going to need plenty more soldiers. Now you need to work on expanding the current cloning operations to allow for more clones to be produced at once.
(318/475, 15 Resources per Die) (-64 Facilities, -64 Logistics, -32 Trainers, +2,048 Clones)

We need another 34 Facilities to accomplish the next tier, which means we need to complete Offworld Expansion another 5 times.

Unless the amount of Facilities we get starts increasing alongside the progress needed rather than just the progress, I don't think we can actually accomplish everything we need to do even if we completely ignore the possibility of being discovered.

We should be able to squeak through on a turn of Facility deficit, so I guess we'll be finding out what happens if we fail a Plan in a year unless we start to get new Facility gain options.

You can also go into the negative stats on Facilities. That is also an option.

I am initially for completing this current phase of Clone Production, focusing on delivering the Dreadnoughts and ignoring the final phase. We should have never accepted the final phase, we didn't have to and it was unnecessarily greedy.

Also, we need to build defences, fully agree on this, we just don't have the facilities to do so for this year. It sucks... but... the other radical move is to ignore this current phase altogether, hope that delivering the Dreadnoughts ahead of schedule will tank the blow narratively, and just build the defences up too so we can Kriff the Sith. Basically pump FD to Dreadnoughts, divert our 30 facilities to badly needed Orbital defences and ignore the last two Clone Production phases citing exposure concerns. We are at a crossroads here.

The alternate plan, if we want to miss out on the last two Clone expansion plan goals and hide behind our giant Clone Army.

You frown at the news. You know that Count Dooku is Darth Tyrannus and Chancellor Palpatine is Darth Sidious, but you aren't sure what their game is. Especially since they have you building this secret clone army for the Jetiise to lead into battle.

You know enough pieces of the puzzle to know that there is more going on, but not enough to figure out what is actually going on. And you don't like that.

Oshha I know you don't want to use OOC knowledge for the, but Jango is a Mando and Mandolore, with a Education in military history. There is no way he wouldn't see the 'play both sides against the middle' plan the Sith have at this point. I'd honestly assume he'd figure it out sooner but could see him being too busy to sit down and think about it.

At this point with what he knows this should be obvious it isn't even a complex plan.

Jango knows that Tyrannus and Sidious are going to be secretly controlling both sides, but he doesn't know why they are doing that. He doesn't know to what end they are going to be manipulating both sides to.

What are the Sith always obsessed about? 'Destory the Jedi', he knows the Jedi are going to be forced to lead the charge. He knows the Jedi are going to be set up to be killed in mass by their own troops. Then all that is left are the Sith leading each sideno matter who wins the sith win. At this point it isn't hyper space science for Jango.

Also the moon Korasa already has an outpost on it. Any chance we can expand our facilities from that? Build up the last of the phase 5 cities for planetary defense.

Whch will kill the jedi, but then what?
Which is kind of the crux. The Sith effectively control both sides, leaving the question of what they deem worth the devastation to assets of the groups they control... 🤷‍♂️
We know OOC that Palps planned to destroy Dooku, and Dooku hoped to take out Palps and Palps intended to establish absolute personal control, but Jango I guess hasn't quite realized that.

We can't do that, if we divert any dice to on-world infrastructure, we will not have the facilities to fund the next phase of Clone expansions on time. This is a near-certainty. The yields of Phase 5 are so low, we might be better off simply transiting to taking our 30 facilities and building defences right now , if we are going to even bother building up Phase 5 cities, because building up Phase 5 cities is telling the Sith we aren't going to try to hit the next phase of Clone expansions by year end.

We need 1340 Progress for enough off-world expansions to end the year at -2 facilities (that's up to Phase 8 Off-world expansion).

Our chances of hitting 1340 progress on a d100+20 per infra dice are as follows:

On 16 Dice (8 Infra dice over 2 turns) : 3.33%
On 19 Dice ( 8 Infra Dice/2dice + 3FD/1turn) : 50%
On 22 Dice: (8Infra Dice+3FD/2turns) 94.6%

We have no margin for adding 220 more progress . Phase 5 Titala brings for a mere 4 facilities, and remember it's also competing for scarce dice with building orbital defences and shield generators.

You know what. Screw the last two goals.

This plan definitely has us missing out on our two Clone expansion plan goals, in exchange for fortifying up, rushing the Dreadnoughts fast as an Olive branch, and keeping exposure at -3/turn before Jedi interference. Otherwise, it's identical to Bot's plan in every way except the FD is transferred to Aurek.

Bot's plan will lead us to meet the next Clone Expansion Goals at a likely -2 facilities deficit baring good dice rolls if all 9 Free dice is put into off-world expansion for the rest of the year, but unless off-world facilities yields climb, we are not in a good position to meet the last goal 6 turns from now. It also means we end the turn at +5 Exposure too before Jedi investigations, because each dies into off-world facilities adds +1 Exposure.

So we are at a cross roads here, but a more moderate solution is to follow Bot's plan to the end of the year, then ignore the final Clone plan goal.

Edit: For the interest of the tally, here's the other plan proposed later, to hit the next plan goal now and deal with the consequences of the Facilities Crunch. It is up to the will of the thread to decide which to choose.

You think you are underestimating how useful hindsight is. We know what the Sith are planning, but Jango only knows that they are Sith, they are secretly controlling both sides and that they are building a secret clone army to be led by the Jedi and turn turned on the Jedi via mind-control chips. He can guess that the Sith want galactic domination as usual, but he has no idea what form that will take.

Also the moon Korasa already has an outpost on it. Any chance we can expand our facilities from that? Build up the last of the phase 5 cities for planetary defense.
No. It is uninhabitable and the outpost got abandoned centuries ago.
