Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[] Dream of shadows and cities, stacked like children's blocks (Grinning Feats, seeking the past. Sixiang evolves their movement trait)

This, absolutely this. I'm not particularly concerned about the bonuses to Sixiang, I could take it or leave it, and I'm not particularly concerned about the Grinning Feats (we'll have plenty of time for those). I want to delve into the past, I want to get into the wonders of the bygone days and I want to learn how this world as is came to be. History all the way!

Really liking the imagery here though. Like, I just felt the bizarre reality warping nature of the Dream when we saw the Sect in the dewdrop.

And the baby moon fairies were adorable, and the little touches like the incense lighting up because that's what incense does were great.

Perfect atmosphere.

Doubt it is LQs past and present being what we are voting for here btw. Both because there is no need for it and it does not really fit the feel and imagery going on here.

And we already did it in another Moon vision. Rethreading old stuff would be weird.

Shadows and cities sort of reminds of the way cities grow and are razed, new building in place of the old, again and again, leaving only echoes in their wake. Touching on Renewal in the way cities are ever changing, and what we can learn of Causality from the past. The secrets of the sect and Sect Head sounds fine, but learning about cities and society in the Emerald Seas sounds cooler still. The Grinning Moon avatar once told us the Wind Thief might have marveled at cities as Ling Qi knows them, perhaps that's related to that vast, graceful thing moving through the memories of cities?

It's been a while since Grinning got the top billing in one of these segments, I'm all for learning more about her ways.

I'm interested in the past too, but I think it is important to remember that Ling Qi must *act* in the present. I don't want to fall into the trap of the Hui, in looking far away from what is available to the common populace for truth- I want to keep in touch with our common roots, and that means understanding what is actually going on in the present for then. We've tucked our family under our wing and they serve a bit as a link to commonality, but they are rising with us now, not just living as mortals.

So.

[ ] Dream of mountains in dewdrops and the rumbling of old thunder (Dreaming Feats, seeking the present. Sixiang evolves their perception trait)

Where are you getting the idea that the dream of mountains and old thunder will be connected to the common populace?

Because being able to travel to the shadows cast into the dream by past events, and learn about history from that seems rather fun.

Also rather useful for gathering clues if Ling Qi ever finds herself in a murder mystery. :V

LQ has barely interacted with urban areas since she became a cultivator. I'm curious what she'll make of it.

Grinning sounds like going back to Tonghou again. "A shadowed city" is how it was presented last time. It was the Grinning option last time, too.

Dreaming, on the other hand, sounds like the Sect. Mountains and an elderly storm.

[ ] Dream of mountains in dewdrops and the rumbling of old thunder (Dreaming Feats, seeking the present. Sixiang evolves their perception trait)

I'd rather not do the same thing twice.

I'd rather not do the same thing twice.
This is why it is not Tonghou tho. Because narratively, going back to Tonghou makes zero sense.

Looking at the option also and the description in the update it is a city or cities built atop of each other. Like how old civilizations and cities build atop of the old. That is not Tonghou, that is history itself. If it is about the general area or the ES itself we do not know yet.

It took an avatar of the Grinning Moon, the Dreaming Moon, and the Hidden Moon to transport us all the way to Tonghou last time. Given that Sixiang is nowhere near as powerful, and they are not present here, I find it hard to believe that the pieces of cities, stacked like children's blocks and hidden in shadow, is Tonghou. It just wouldn't make sense.

While the Liminal realm is much more flexible than the material realm, distance still matters. It is much more likely that the Dew Drops show us stuff in the Present of the Sect while the cities show things that happened in the past around the area, likely before the Sect was even here. After all, if the Bloody Moon's Nightmare was correct, this area had some development and city-building from before the Mason's war.

So the vote to go to Tonghou was

[] The crumbling city of Tonghou, turned inward, shrinking by the decade, lit by the light of a grinning crescent.

Here the vote is

[] Dream of shadows and cities, stacked like children's blocks (Grinning Feats, seeking the past. Sixiang evolves their movement trait)

There are clear differences. First, Tonghou was not described as a shadowed city, but a crumbling one. Second, the current vote uses the word cities. We are likely to dream of more than one, or a jumbled collection, of cities. With the clear differences in vote structure I don't find any reason to think the cities below Ling Qi are Tonghou.

Hey Yrs, could you explain the Movement thing for Sixiang a bit? Specifically, will this help them materialize more/better?

I doin't have a huge preference currently, maybe leaning a little towards Dreaming with the dew drops, maintains and thunder. The imagery just speaks a little more to me.

Honestly both sound wonderful.

Was this is dreaming or in real world with the avatars cloaking us from mortal or low level cultivator view? If we were in dreaming and still needing this type of backing then yeah, it is all going to be local.

I've read plenty of stories and fables where little things like time and space are fluid in the Dream World (or pick a fancy name depending on culture and genre) so would it be impossible for us to be traveling all over thought dreams because the dreams are related even if the physical locations are very far apart?
